Sprinkles wasn't surprised Kiyomi talked about it. He wasn't even particularly annoyed by it. What set him off was how this whole coincidence happened. Now he was stuck here, trying to be polite, and holding back the sickness in his stomach.

"Sounds right! I see Kiyomi once in a while at the M3C. We're more acquaintances than anything."

"Oh, I see. My mistake then," Natasha said quite simply when he told her that her daughter and him were more acquaintances than friends.

"Kiyomi just spoke so well of you that I assumed you were friends," Natasha said very curious now about the vibes she was getting since he seemed like somebody Kiyomi might get along with normally.

"So... How have you been adjusting to life on Manta Carlos? It must be very different from where you are from, no?" Natasha asked as she wondered about the nek0 in front of her.

"I'm happy that I left a good impression on her." Kiyomi being a friend didn't sound impossible, just implausible. Their mental ages were too far apart, and her mannerisms embarrassed him.

Somehow, Sprinkles found himself happy to be asked about his life on Manta Carlos. Usually, he would be uncomfortable and unsure of how to respond. Giving away too much information was a surefire way to make a conversation awkward.

"I can't say it's been too different... other than the supernatural casually walking around, most people speaking English, the culture being very different, and how I'm now expected to go to school and then get a job. But those are small details," he joked. "But seriously, I've been adjusting very well. I struggled a lot during the first few weeks, then I learned how to understand the culture and properly participate in it."

Then the uncomfortable feelings began to hit. The loneliness of no longer having an actual family. The stress of having the responsibilities of an adult. The exhaustion that comes after every therapy session. It was all too much to think about sometimes.

Natasha was more focused on the odd combination of feelings paying with Sprinkle's emotions than his words. She thought she felt a type of melancholy or sadness, which in a way, were quite normal for a lot of newcomers to the island. But there was also something else she couldn't quite put her finger on yet.

"Yes, the island can be a bit overwhelming, especially for newcomers. The idea that demons actually exist, and are nice people, or that there are alternative dimensions or worlds, can be a lot to take in."

"I think you have time yet before you are told you need to find a job or else," Natasha added jokingly. "I'd just worry about your studies, accommodating yourself, making friends and stuff," she said, "The rest will usually just fall into place, or that has been my experience over the centuries."

"It's certainly a lot," Sprinkles agreed, "but I like to face my problems head-on! So far, I'm on the right track. I already have a job, I'm a speedy learner, and I have tons of friends. My plan is to get out of school as quickly as possible, then become a commentator or journalist for the arena."

His mood became confused again. Talking about plans he was so firm on excited it. It made him feel like he has his life together. On the other side, he knew he had limited time. He only had about five years left to complete all his goals and enjoy them. If he didn't achieve immortality, he was certainly screwed. There was no time to waste.

Natasha frowned slightly when he finished. Sprinkles positive and reassuring words and apparent optimism clashed greatly with what he was feeling which was quite worrying for the empathic daywalker naturopath. She was used to people saying one thing to hide what they might be feeling, but here she sensed real turmoil.

"Say, would you like to try a session of Reiki?" Natasha offered unexpectedly. It was something she had taken up recently and had just added to the long list of alternative healing methods she offered her clients.

Sprinkles had spoken about the positives in his life and got a frown in return. He forced himself to not frown as his confusion increased when Natasha offered a Reiki session. "That was random," he pointed out with a laugh.

He was more suspicious of how the treatment worked. He knew what Reiki was, but on this island, the process may work differently. "I'd like an explanation on how it works, first. Also, how much does it cost?"

"It was, wasn't it?" Natasha agreed with a chuckle, "I do apologize, we vampires tend to be a bit eccentric at times, following our flights of fancy as it were. I was just thinking your energy is out of tune with your words and probably thoughts," she told Sprinkles very matter-of-factly.

Not surprised by Sprinkles question, Natasha elegantly crossed her legs and rested her hands on her knee, sitting very upright now, "All creatures have a life force called Ki, and sometimes our subconscious thoughts or worries interrupt that force in certain negative ways. Reiki just helps re-establish the flow by adding positive energy to it," she explained, trying to keep it as simple as possible.

"It does not hurt, nor can it cause harm - at least most times it can't." she mused, "Here, because we have energy feeders and such, in theory, too much positive energy could hurt someone who thrives on negative vibes, but that is theoretic. I have never heard of such a situation occurring before," she told Sprinkles calmly.

When he asked about the price, Natasha shook her head, "Nothing, it's on the house. If you find it helps, great. If you find it doesn't then no loss on your part." she said with a little shrug.

"Besides, if it does work, you may come back later, and I prefer working with satisfied customers who want my help and not one-offs that may speak poorly of me to others."

Shit, was she an emotion reader? Panic flared inside of Sprinkles. That was the only thing that made sense. Sprinkles was aware that the persona he put on failed to match his emotions most of the time, and now was one of those times. Somehow, she managed to point that out, unless he was just that bad at acting today.

He let a frown appear on his face. "I don't know if I'm alright with that. If my energy is 'out of tune' with my words and thoughts, my therapist can help me work on that. I just have a lot on my mind, is all. It's to be expected with what a lot of us NEK0s had to go through. I do appreciate the offer, however."

"Not a problem," Natasha said unfazed, "But just so you are aware, all you do is lay on a table, fully clothed, while I place my hands on you. It's not invasive and does not interfere with anything. Most people just feel relaxed and less stressed afterward. Many of my clients often drift off during the session in fact," she said, giving him one more chance before she dropped the subject.
