Peppermint

Lonan made a beeline from his last class to the grass outside. As soon as he was off the pavement he flopped over. This earned him several odd looks, but he didn't mind. Sitting still and quietly listening had thoroughly drained what little self control he had.

He started wiggling in the grass. He smiled as leaves crunched under him, and his hair was tossed by the wind. He could barely smell anything in this form, but at least the chill the wind brought still felt nice. As much as he loved wearing suits, they did get rather warm. His wiggling turned into rolling, and he shifted into a dog to avoid wrinkling his clothes any further.

Now that he could smell again, he took a deep breath, filling his nose with the usual scents of campus, and also... peppermint? His eyes lit up at the smell. Like most horses, he thought peppermints were delicious, and he could hardly remember the last time he ate one.

He quickly rolled to his feet, and followed the scent to a cute girl who seemed to be a fox, or maybe part fox. She didn't smell very much like a fox. She did smell like peppermint, however, and that was all that mattered right now.

"Hey!" he shouted, trying to get her attention. When that failed, he tried bouncing around in front of her, barking and wagging his tail. Still nothing. Was she ignoring him? Even if she was, he was going to get a peppermint. He would steal it from her pocket if he had to, but first he tried nudging her arm with his snout.

Lonan barked excitedly when the girl finally looked at him. He was one step closer to getting a peppermint. He wagged his tail as she pet him. Dog things seemed to work better than talking, so now he just had to convince her that he was cute, and- Oh.

She was already calling him adorable. Well, that was easy. It was also flattering, and made him genuinely happy. His tail wagged faster, and he leaned into her hands. He tilted his head until she was scratching in just the right spot. This was perfect. The only thing that would make it better was peppermints.

Like magic, the girl pulled out more candies just as he was thinking about them. She was such a smart fox-human-girl-thing.

Lonan's head darted forward, and he licked one of the candies out of her hand, scooping it up with his tongue. He then chewed on it, crushing both the mint and the plastic wrapper. He kept chewing until they separated. Once his peppermint crumbs were free, he spit the now-slimy plastic onto the grass.

Ahh, that was delicious.

He looked up at the girl again and whined. He wanted another peppermint. He wanted all of the peppermints. He sat down and lifted a paw to shake, hoping to entice her to unwrap the next one for him.
