James smiled back at Dorn, turning his gaze to the ocean when the other boy looked away. His earlier apprehension had all but disappeared - it was such a nice day, and he had a friend at the Academy. He couldn't remember the last time someone had taken the time to talk to him. Well, for that matter, he couldn't remember the last time he'd wanted someone to.
He nodded, relieved. "Thanks. I was afraid I'd have to sleep in these tonight..." He said, gesturing to his clothes.
He grabbed his tie in one white hand, placing the other in Dorn's and standing up. Now that they were both standing, he had to tilt his head to see Dorn's face; which he did, nodding at the other boy's reassurances and twisting the tie between long nervous fingers. "I'm not sure about that... But thanks." He said sincerely, ducking his head.
"Let's just go and get it over with, huh?" He finally said, abruptly brushing the sand from off his clothes. "Like a band-aid. Except I've gotta live here." He grinned lopsidedly, hanging the tie around his neck. "How long of a walk is it?"
