Paltiel Investments
Paltiel Investments is one of the oldest businesses on the island, although they've been in their headquarters for only forty years. Despite the name, Paltiel investments provides a number of services beyond just investments. The company originally sprang up as Paltiel and Sons Loans, providing low interest loans to newcomers to the islands so that they could start their businesses. While Paltiel Investments still provides that service, they've diversified, focusing primarily on investments, while also owning a good deal of land throughout the downtown core.The company is headquartered close to the dead center of downtown, in a modest looking three story brick building. There's been discussions about moving to a larger, more modern complex, but for the moment the company is staying where it is. It's currently led by Ignatius Paltiel, whose father was the previous CEO, but beyond a few extended family members in low positions, the almost three hundred employees are primarily from outside the Paltiel family.
