Caleb just needed to focus, to breathe. In. and out. He wasn’t panicking or freaking out, it’s just that if he forgot, his body wouldn’t do it on its own. What demanded more of his attention however were his current whereabouts. Beautiful scenery, a clear moonlit night. The only problem was that after he left the assigned lodgings he had ended up wondering around for like an hour and had no idea which way was back to his bedroom. Which really wasn’t a problem because traveling always made him rather restless. Besides, setting up his ventilator was such a pain.
There had been a couple of people he passed by with a smile and a polite greeting. But upon reflection he perhaps could have asked how to get back to the temporary residence he had been assigned. He stepped through an archway and the scene almost took his breath away, conversely reminding him to inhale. in. What type of school had an actual lake on the property? Did they do boating lessons during the summer? Was swimming in it allowed? If this was a magic island… was there a sea monster inside? Perhaps it was a better idea not to visit the maybe magical lake.
He slipped along one of the many paths that seemed to so casually navigate the grounds, catching occasional glimpses of the vast expanse of water as he wandered back towards the building he thought he was supposed to be staying in. out. He watched his breath linger in the air for a moment before tightening his scarf. He wasn’t in a particular rush and didn’t really know where he was going, so why not take his time and enjoy the new scenery? Apparently he wasn’t the only one. As he rounded a copse frost tipped evergreens he spotted a girl seated at an easel, she was a picturesque image herself. But Caleb kind of wanted to know what she thought was worth rendering in paint.
He traipsed up to her, leaving a path of broken grass that had previously been untouched and frosted over. Each step leaving a clear footprint. He and smiled as he pulled his scarf away from his mouth. in.“Hello! A beautiful night for painting isn’t it?”
