Tired. That's all Ishvi felt after Rowan left him alone with his thoughts. He considered letting go of the small melanite statue in his hands, but feeling the pain of his burns full force would not stop the memories. And even numb he was not about to fall asleep. He wasn't sure what he hated more about this situation - lying helpless and bandaged up in the hospital, IV in his arm, or the fact that the nurses insisted he stay in nightmare form because his wing had been injured and his stress shifting was making it hard for the bandages to stay in place when he tried to stay out of it.
At least the way he was lying, head propped up to see the room's entrance, and the amount of bandages meant it was hard to tell what form he was in.
Ishvi sighed when he heard a knock, the nurse asking if he was up for a visitor. He thought it was Rowan coming back, and as grateful as he was for someone coming to see him, he was reluctant to face the boy again so soon after their previous conversation. But he realized Rowan must be lonely too, so he called out, "They can come in."
