Name: Ophion Lazar
Age: 1023(this is what he remenbers he's actually much older)
Birthday: April 16
Gender: male
Species: Deity
Category: Staff
Class: High school and College
Subject/Work: Art, Art History, Creative Writing, Healing Magic
Appearance Description: He's a thin man standing at 5'10” and almost always sports a fairly messy look. Very rarely do his clothes actually fit, usually being a few sizes too big. All in all he looks like he just woke up, or maybe he's high. His hair groups itself in strands that flow down to his butt. Has red serpentine eyes and elongated fangs, and a forked tongue.
His divine form is a huge ash colored serpent covered in spikes with a pair of stubby clawed arms. He stretches roughly 350 feet in length. His tail ends in spiny growths that rattle and effectively resembles a scepter.
Personality Description: Ophion is generally friendly to most, often dismissed as anything serious due to his general appearance. He tends to come off as aloof or oblivious, periodically losing a shoe or misplacing his wallet. He's almost never symetrical. In truth Ophion is actually surprisingly intelligent, having acquired several college degrees during his time on Manta Carlos. But such things should be expected from a god. He has a general thirst for knowledge and a strong desire for passing it on to others, so it's only natural he became a teacher.
He is however wrathful if provoked. Even if he doesn't show it he can hold a grudge. And if someone did manage to get on his bad side he's fittingly ruthless and vengeful. Some may even say uncharacteristically cruel. But again, he is also still a deity, what can one expect.
Species Abilities: Ophion is a deity and as one would expect is immortal. His inability to die works somewhat similar to that of a phoenix. Every one hundred years Ophion must assume his true form and shed his skin, as snakes do. Being prevented from doing so causes him great distress, and pain, as well as a loss of his powers until he does so. Between these points Ophion has seven times that he can effectively die and come back to life. It can take anywhere from a day to a week for him to revive depending on his body's condition. When he does come back he sheds his old skins, leaving a husk with all of the old injuries. If he exhausts his lives before then he will be forced to wait out the remainder of the cycle locked away in a personal limbo of sorts until he is reborn. He's claimed many domains, however his true domains are Endlessness and Cycles. If he is killed during the shedding period that may seem somewhat more permanent, as it disperses his energy. This has only happened once before and it took him five hundred years to return.
Divine Will: Ophion cannot be bent to another person's will. Things like telepathy, mind control, illusions, and hypnosis don't effect him in the slightest.
Communication with snakes and serpentine beings: This is exactly as it sounds. Ophion can naturally speak with beings who are snakes or snake like.
Enhanced physiology: Ophion's reflexes are akin to that of a snake's able to move quickly in very short bursts. His body seems to be designed for this as he's notably able to extend his limbs to twice their length and snapping back much like a rubber band would. His human form is also extremely flexible as a result of this, and able to contort itself in ways even the most flexible humans couldn't. Like other snakes he can taste the air and detect heat signatures from people.
Ophion in his human form is still as vulnerable as anyone would be to conventional weapons. He can still bleed out or die from decapitation or hit to any vital organ. Magical weapons also maintain whatever their intended effects may be so long as it's not meant to take control of him. Proportionally powerful weapons work against his divine form. He is tough, and dragon slaying equipment is best recommended for this. High grade weapons are also an excellent deterent. His immunity to telepathy can be a double edged sword as he'd be completely out of the loop if someone is sending a message out to maintain secrecy. Similarly for those who are only capable of communication through those means it would also mean they would have to find a more mundane way to carry on a conversation.
Ophion has a mild compulsion to eat himself, and therefore is often seen eating. He cannot harm a person who grabs the end of his tail or takes him by the snout. This can lead to awkward situations in his human form. In grabbing him this way compels him to impart wisdom and give you a blessing, often in the form of one of his personal remedies. This can and has been exploited in the past. Eating himself would lock him into a cycle that would leave him between life and death, preventing himself from shedding at the end of a cycle and locking him in a state of being neither dead nor alive. Only a full human can break this state and pull him apart.
Powers:
Blessed venom: The venom Ophion produces can either heal or harm individuals depending on his needs. It can be injected via his fangs or spit in a manner similar to a cobra. The venom when applied harmfully it causes tissue to necrotize and slowly spread slowly from the effected area. It can take up to a day to fully spread and outside of antivenom or healing magic the only way to stop it outside of cutting out the effected area.
The venom can be used to heal injuries in proportion to the injury. It can close wounds but it cannot regenerate organs. It requires a degree of precision when being employed so he normally carries it around in vials. It can be made to have other uses such as cleansing toxins and curing sicknesses however these variations take some time to make. They also taste extremely bitter like poison when ingested no matter what he does to give it flavor.
He cannot be healed with his own venom in any curative form.
Divine strength: Ophion's strength is only at the human peak of strength. The superhuman aspect comes with his grip. Ophion can crush anything he takes into his hands. He has to have the specific target in mind for it to work. From there he has to have at least five fingers on the object. Having all ten fingers on an object doubles the speed in which the object is crushed. A stone like granite that can fit in his hand can be crushed in seconds. Larger or more sturdy objects such as a pillar or steel girder that wouldn't normally break can take a couple minutes. Also note that it's only the area that extends to his grip, if he he can crush the section of a wall that his hand happens to be covering, effectively making a hole. In his divine form, coiling around someone has the same effect.
Biography: While he doesn't remember, Ophion came into existence around the same time as early mankind. For a long time he was worshiped as a healer and protector, also a teacher for the tribes that revered him. His popularity diminished over time, eventually he just became a wanderer doing what he always did. That is until he managed to anger a more territorial deity and get himself killed for around two hundred years. Which brings us to his current situation.
When he “came to” he found himself with no memories or possessions. He could barely remember his original name. He took up the name Ophion, and began working once again as a traveling doctor. As mankind advanced their knowledge he would go attend colleges and learn with them, amassing a good number of degrees in the process. He's lived out a fairly quiet existence and finally decided to settle on Manta Carlos to teach there.
