A small bird perched itself on the low branch of a tree, and the ever curious alien was examining it intently. Completely motionless, Galexia watched as the bird quickly jerked its head to and fro, its beady black eyes taking in the environment. Galexia found that it was almost impossible to tell what a bird was actually looking at, and he couldn't help but think what was on its small mind. He didn't dwell on it too much, though, and continued to watch the bird look around and occasionally hop.

After nearly a minute, the bird began flapping its wings, and Galexia found the bird on his shoulder in a few seconds. He looked down at the animal, and, eager to get a closer look, moved a hand to reach it. Unfortunately, the bird flew away, and before Galexia could react, he had lost it. He turned around. The bird was nowhere to be seen.

Without any indication of where it had gone, he began walking, searching for any other animals, or maybe even the same one.

Galexia wasn't having any luck after walking for a few minutes. He only saw small glimpses of birds that took off seconds later. However, he remained undeterred in his efforts, and decided that this walk would be quite relaxing even if he didn't find what he was looking for.

Eventually, he came across something that caught his interest more than the birds. A horse, with what seemed to be a horn attached to its head, was lying on the ground, seemingly unconscious. What was more interesting was the fact that this strange horse seemed to be made of a gleaming, silver substance. Galexia found that he couldn't exactly focus on the creature beneath him--literally; it caused his vision to blur--so he simply stared at it, unsure of exactly what to do.

Dreamworld was dark or light or both or neither. It was a strange place, hard to make sense of even for someone who had been raised there. It wasn't exactly a physical plane either; he had form without substance and traveled with a thought, though time passed in his traveling. This place was not without its dangers. Aside from the other inhabitants, who were quite chaotic and generally more experienced than he was, having the advantage of being wholly dreamworld creatures, there was also the constantly shifting scenery, which only vaguely resembled its waking world counterpart.

It was difficult to navigate at the best of times, and on Manta Carlos it seemed even more illusory and dangerous than elsewhere. But Revel was determined to map out his new home both because it would make finding the sure-to-be-interesting dreams of the island's inhabitants easier to find (that could be a task even with markers) and because he liked to know the best places for escape routes.

The discorn had enough experience to know how to look at the objects in the landscape and figure out roughly what they were. So he could pick out enough trees to make him believe he had entered the woods. This may be a safe place to pass out in if he could not make it back to his house when he needed to leave dreamworld.

He had scouted out the woods a bit beforehand and it seemed to be mostly free from large predators, and he should test out his places before he needed to use them. He was aware it was a calculated risk, especially on this island, but he tried to diminish the risk by finding a relatively calm area surrounded by trees. Then he passed into the waking world.

Half an hour later he seemed to have made the right choice. He was free from injury at least, though he realized as his eyes adjusted to the waking world that he was not alone. Revel blinked at the strange black creature dotted with stars, and for a moment he thought he was still in dreamworld. But his surroundings were much too solid for that.

The discorn shifted to human form and got to his feet, looking curiously up at the strange creature. He could see from the images around its head that it did have emotions, but of course, they flickered too fast for him to attempt to make sense of them. And he really had no idea what it was he was looking at. But the creature didn't seem hostile or at least hadn't attacked him when he was vulnerable.

"Hello there. You're not from around here, are you?" he asked with a smirk.

As Galexia watched the creature intently, it began to stir. He stepped back a bit as it stared up at him. After a few seconds, the creature transformed into a humanoid figure, but Galexia knew full well at this point that whatever it was definitely wasn't human.

"Actually," he said, "my home is not too far from here. It is located underneath this forest. However, if you are asking if I am not from this planet, then you would be correct."

Galexia had yet to move from his position, but he was fine standing where he was. This creature seemed like an interesting one. He could confidently say that he ha never seen one like it, but there were some cases of similar creatures in his passed on memories.

"What are you?" Galexia asked, rather bluntly. "You seem to be human, but judging from the fact that you were just a horse with a horn protruding from your head, you cannot be human."
