Shinji had finally made it to the roof after talking to his new acquaintance Hal for quite a while. Now it was completely night time with the clear skies up ahead showing off the beautiful stars. "I never get sick of looking into the sky like this." Shinji said aloud to himself. For about 12 minutes, Shinji stared into the night sky as if he was in a hypnosis or something. He blinked but never looked away once. Not for a bird, a bat, or the wind. Nothing could break his concentration on the beauty above his head. This was the one thing that he could always focus on.

Shaking his head and lightly slapping himself on the cheeks, he woke himself up from his steady star gazing. He knew that he would have to do this rather quickly with little interruptions so that he would have enough time to sleep before getting up in the morning to me Hal here in this same location. Then it clicked to him. "I better not damage the roof. One, this place needs to stay neat for tomorrow morning. Second, This is not my property so that would be a little rude to do. In fact, that's vandalism." he thought to himself.

"Okay, let's get to it then." Shinji shouted. In this training session, Shinji would try to realize the power that he had as well as trying to make a positive negative effect on the Earth itself so that he could push himself away from the ground causing him to hover. Shinji knew how far fetched this idea was but he was always one to get it a try. "First and foremost, I have to figure out the real destruction power that i can actually make with these abilities of mine. Just so I don't slip up and destroy something later on." he said as he charged up his electricity. Both palms spread open and filled with energy. Shinji looked at his hands and was dissatisfied. "This wont be enough to find jack squat. I gotta step it up. This is where Mr. Cunninham's training comes in handy." As he finished this little pep talk of sorts, he closed his eyes and caught steady, deep breaths. Clearing his mind and focusing on pushing out all the power he could. The electricity now finding a significant outlet from his hands and now through his forearms. His eyes now glowing from the over exertion of energy trying to find another release point. Shinji opened his eyes exhaling one last time. "This is it." He said as he looked at himself light up the top of the roof.

Beginning to stretch and get used to the ongoing outlet of electricity, Shinji had finally gotten to the point of his fully potential. Well for now, until he fully develops his abilities. "Alright, how do I 'zap' things." Shinji asked himself. "Maybe if I..." he said as he threw his right arm forward open palmed. As the motion of this carried on, Shinji would push out as much power as possible so that it would leave his hand. And so it did. But as a repercussion of this, Shinji was sent flying backwards from the force of the lightning fast bolt of electricity flying from his hand. Standing up while holding his head, Shinji looked at the edge of the roof. "Awe man" He muttered as he approached the slightly chipped piece brick. "Okay, its not that big so it should be fine, right?" he said to himself.

"Now that I know I can do that, its on to the next thing, Pulses" Shinji had always wanted to make a pulse out of his powers but was never able to since it was a high risk of someone seeing him use his 'special' abilities. But now that he was on an island filled with people like him, he should have no problem with doing this. Cuffing his hands together, Shinji pointed them above him to avoid any further mishaps. He pushed a little of the power he used before out but only in small jolts. In doing this, he was able to push out a little air. "That was too small." He started as he pointed his hands in the direction of the chipped brick. He had already forgotten that he wasn't supposed to point that way but by now it was too late. Shinji had tried again but used way too much energy. This time it took off a large piece of the brick. This frustrated him. He was more frustrated that he had done this again when he told himself not to. but he had to deal with it now. In his frustration, Shinji had forced both of his hands downward. Not thinking about exerting any energy, he had accidentally released a pulse from each hand, propelling him into the air and over the edge of the academy building. "Aaaagh" he yelled as he fell quickly to the ground. Was his foolish temper gonna kill him?

Still falling, Shinji couldn't think of anything to get himself out of this situation. he was too busy thinking about himself falling. But, as he reached the ground, he put both arms in from of him as if they would block the forced from the fall. But in doing this, he again let out a couple pulses that would unintentionally save his life. He was propelled back into the air but on angle that would smash him back into the building itself. "Aaah" said Shinji as his back smashed into the brick building. he wasn't pushed so high back into the air that he would have to fall again, but enough for him to slid down the building and face-plant on the ground. Feeling the pain and soreness of this, Shinji slowly stood. The glowing, blue electricity fading away. "I don't think, I will be trying that again anytime soon." Shinji said as he fell back onto his butt. Feeling even more intense pain, he laid himself down on the concrete in front of the academy entrance waiting for himself to heal before he even thinks about getting up. Not like he could move anyways. "I hope no one sees me like this..."

Avian had crept out of her dorm that night with a pair of binoculars, a camera, and her usual sun hat, although there was no sun. But what could she say, she wore it everywhere so why take it off for the moon? She was hoping to find a tropical screech owl and snap a couple of pictures to sketch and send to her parents back at home, let them know she was still excising her creative spirit. Like all owls, the screech owl was nocturnal so this would be her only chance to find it. Once she did find it, she knew she would have no trouble getting a good shot. Birds always flocked to her but she had to find the elusive night hunter first. After checking the courtyard, Avian patrolled along the rest of the school, her blue eyes constantly skyward as she looked. As she silently strolled along, she heard occasional sparking noises and saw flashes coming from the roof. At first she believed it to be distant lightning of an oncoming storm but soon realized it was something else. Not wanting to get caught in any potentially dangerous situations, she sped up her pace. She put her head down so as not to be tempted to look up at the roof again for risk of something scary being up there.
Maybe I should have stayed in my dorm...She thought.
Suddenly, the loudest spark she had heard yet burst from the roof and the next thing she knew, a boy had landed a couple of yards from her and ricocheted into the wall of the school! She jumped and gave a little yelp before covering her mouth and taking a few steps back. He sat there, slumped against the wall, making Avian wonder if he had in fact seen her yet. She would've normally turned right around and went home but she wasn't sure if he was hurt or not!
"A-are you o-ok?" she timidly asked.

As Shinji sat there moaning and groaning in pain, he thought to himself how long it would take before he was back on his feet. He could only hope that he wont be out all night. He had somewhere to go in the morning. His eyes were closed and his mouth was almost fully open. He couldn't move any of his body as the pain was too great for him to bare at the moment especially since he knew he had a little of time to just sit there and wait for his healing to kick in. He had a little bit of ringing in his ears though from all of it. What was he to do now?

Soon enough, as Shinji sat alone in the darkness of night, someone had approached him. no doubt they were attracted by the light show he put on. He was unaware of their presence for a moment until she was to say something. "A-are you o-ok?" She said. Shinji was startled since he had no idea of her being there. He jumped a little from where he was sitting making him feel the most intense pain of his life. "Ah Unf" was the only thing that could be heard from Shinji besides another bit of groaning. Slowly opening his eyes, he looked at the girl standing near him. "I'm fine, I guess. You scared the crap out of me though." he said said with a slight chuckle at the end. You could here the stressing in his voice as he shifted around to a better and more comfortable position. "If I may ask, what are you doing out here so late?" Shinji asked as he set himself up in a rather awkward but surprisingly comfortable position.

Avian winced a little as the boy shifted around in pain. She wanted to do something for him but he did say he was fine so she wasn't really sure. When he asked her what she was doing out so late, she remembered she shouldn't have been out in the first place. At first, Avian thought up a couple of lies but figuring she was a bad liar and the fact that he was breaking curfew rules too, she decided to tell the truth.
"I was looking for a tropical screech owl," Avian said plainly, clutching her camera to her chest, "They only come out at night,"
Eyeing the Mexican strangely, she couldn't help but wonder the same thing he had.
"What are you doing out here though?"

Shinji was starting to feel slightly better now but not enough to get up and move or anything. Even this tiny bit of relief to him was magical. His body felt like he had gotten hit by a bus, but he didn't want to show it in front of the stranger that had just approached him. He would rather not have anything out of the ordinary happen, especially because this girl seemed odd in a way. not bad but not good either, neutral if you will.

"A screech owl?" Shinji started. He cleared his throat and continued. "I have never heard of a screech owl before but hey, there are a lot of things I don't know." He said smiling a little. Soon enough the question that he was trying to avoid had come up. Soon enough he would have to explain how he got hurt so he figured he might as well say it all now instead of beating around the bush so to speak. "Well, I was training with my abilities a little on the roof and I had a small mishap. Nothing too big happened. pretty calm night for me." Shinji finished with a light sarcastic chuckle as he knew for a fact that it wasn't a calm night after what he just did. His own clumsiness was the cause of this so maybe he will get over it soon.

How has he not heard of a tropical screech owl!?Avian thought to herself.
She was about to launch into a whole otaku speech on tropical screech owls' population and how they affect the island when he answered her question from before.
Training? In the middle of the night? Isn't that what power classes are for?She thought, coming a little closer.
Yet Avian couldn't help but feel curious. What kind of mishap could send him flying off the roof and bouncing off the ground like a bouncy ball?
"What kind of mishap makes you fall off...the roof?" she asked, looking up at the roof again as if it had the answer.

Shinji was starting to feel better and better while sitting there. The girl he was nest to seemed to be having an inner thought that would surely be nothing short of something crazy. Within s moment if showing a little curiosity on her face she asked how Shinji had his little mishap and how he fell off the roof from it. Shinji smiled a little from slight embarrassment. Looking up at the girl, he began to explain. "Well I have the ability to make electrical currents and potentially create lightning. I wanted to know exactly what variations of this ability I could really do knowing full well that it could be dangerous..." Shinji paused as he stood up slowly using the building as an aid. As he stood, one could hear all the various bones cracking and rustling into their rightful place. To some one near him it would sound gross and creepy but to him it was like bliss compressor what he had just felt.

After taking a fee minutes to stretch and get his still aching body into position, Shinji continued his explanation. "Ahh, as I was saying. I tried to make a magnetic pulse from said ability and I succeeded. But apparently at a price." Shinji finished with admiral before he continued the conclusion of his explanation. "As a bit of frustration hit me after chipping the edge of the roof, I accidentally created a pulse that lifters me off the ground and off the roof. I had no idea that while falling, would make another pulse that would propel me backwards and into the academy building itself." He said as he concluded his story. The whole time, though, he was stretching his limbs trying to get himself comfortable again while a little minor healing was still in need of getting done.

Avian listened to his story, glancing at him with her one visible eye from underneath her unnecessary sunhat. His bones cracked when he stood up, making he think that he may need help. But she was too preoccupied listening to his story to care much.
Lightning huh? I wish I had cool powers like that... she pitied herself silently, as she often did. All I can do is attract chickadees.
When he finished, she cocked her head a little, other blue eye becoming visible. She suddenly looked much more fascinated by him when he mentioned the accident, almost as if she had found a new friend.
"You can't control your powers either?" she asked curiously.

Shinji continued stretching not thinking that there was such a thing as over stretching. Eventually he would twist something that wouldn't normally twist in the first place. But at the moment, he didn't care much. Now that he was about eye level with her, he was able to see only one of her eyes. Though it was a beautiful color of blue, he did still like to see her other eye. While looking at her, though, Shinji could see the booming amount of fascination that she now had for the subject of his or both of their abilities.

Thinking up the right words for him to reply to her question, Shinji continued to look at her. her other eye was now almost completely visible and it was undoubtedly as beautiful to him as the other. Blue was Shinji's favorite color for as long as he could remember. "Well, I can control it in its most basic form, say if it was in the palm of my hands. But I can't bend it's use to do certain things I guess. That's kind of what I have been working on." Shinji said as he stopped stretching for a moment. "By the way, my name is Shinji. What's yours?" He said as he outstretched his hand to shake hers. "Also, if you don't mind me asking, what is your ability?"

Well this was odd. Avian rarely ever got to this point with anyone! She'd normally give them a few sentences and continue on but she couldn't remember the last time someone offered their hand to shake. At first she stared at it with her one eye, the other now covered again, like it was a foreign animal! But cautiously and a little shakily, she slipped her hand into his and gave it a rather limp shake.
"Uh...I'm Avian," she introduced herself, hesitating for a moment on the next question, "I uh..."
...have the short end of the stick. She wanted to say, after all, it seemed she did have rather boring powers, or at least at the moment as she didn't know the full extent of them.
"I control...birds," she finished, averting her cerulean eyes in embarrassment.
