Name: Olgrim Ulrich
Age: Has lost count, approximately 600~
Birthday: October 7th
Gender: Male
Species: Original - Undead: Soul Hulk
Category: Staff
Class: College
Subject: Advanced Necromancy with a specialization in fleshcrafting and soul magic. Sometimes substitutes at the high school.

Appearance Description: In a very general sense, the two best ways to describe Olgrim would be imposing and quite unsettling to look at. His skin is a pale blue-grey, and marred in practically all areas with gouges, scars, stitches, and other various 'blemishes'. Said skin is ice cold to the touch regardless of the heat of his surroundings. Olgrim stands at an astounding twelve feet and four inches, and the entirety of his form is wrapped in a thick layer of defined muscle, though it looks a bit 'stretched' in a way. Despite his height his general frame is very stocky and broad, with massive shoulders reaching a width of nearly five feet. His hands are gigantic even considering his size, with cracked black nails, and he's quite feasibly able to fit the heads or even entire torsos of most average humanoids in his palms. His legs and feet match these hulking proportions, and he requires (obviously custom made) shoes that measure four and a half feet long. His eyes are devoid of any iris, the dimly glowing orbs shifting in hue from white, to pale yellow, to a sickly blue depending on his mood. If by some means he is injured in a way that would normally spill blood, a foul smelling black fog will instead seep from the wound until it closes up again. Lastly, a ragged, scruffy black beard hangs from his chin to a moderate length.

His typical attire is less than appealing in the fashionable sense, but practical enough for its applications. A dark purple-blue hood hangs down to just above his eyes, covering a head which may or may not be bald. A sleeveless tunic and thick gloves cover his torso, as well as odd looking iron bracers. This same metal can be seen in both the shin plates over his trousers, and the bizarre, almost shield like mantle covering his shoulders and upper back. Needless to say his shoes are gargantuan, and seem to have long ago had their tread worn away into nothing. Around his neck hangs a thin rope holding a small, glowing vial of bright blue mist, and he's known to be fiercely, and in some extreme cases, violently protective of it.

Personality Description: Much like his skin, Olgrim's personality can be accurately described as cold. He seems jaded and bitter towards nearly everything, and most people who claim to have seen him crack a smile are simply making fabrications. Truthfully, joy or mirth are feelings that Olgrim tastes the barest hint of perhaps once every month or so, if that. The closest that he gets on a day-to-day basis is grudging amusement, though even calling it that suggests something more positive than the reality. He has a near constantly stern and strict approach to things, and this is doubly true for the unfortunate ones who are placed in his classes. The one exception in this context is that the reactions he gets from many high schoolers he's frightened while substituting has pulled a small chuckle out of him on occasion. He takes his work and research very seriously, and rarely meanders about the town without a clear purpose in mind.

Species Abilities: As could be expected both of an undead creature and a man of such colossal scale, Olgrim possesses truly frightening measures of both strength and durability. The combination of these two factors brings out these qualities several times over, as he's been seen on a few occasions lifting vehicles out of the way in the wake of accidents on the island. In truth, the upper limit of his brutish might has been recorded at nearly thirty-thousand pounds of lifting power, though it's theorized that with enough soul energy this could be eclipsed. Additionally, his endurance seems inexhaustible, and he proves to be astoundingly resilient to both physical damage as well as the large majority of necromantic magic. By expending the energy he gains by capturing the souls (either partially or wholly) of living creatures, he is able to regenerate from almost any wound as well as theoretically extend his existence indefinitely. The type of creature whose soul he captures seems to affect the potency of the energy he gains. In addition, Olgrim requires no sleep, oxygen, or 'food' other than the souls he collects.

As frightening as all of these abilities may be, they come to him at great cost, and the drawbacks of them are all too apparent to the astute observer. Firstly and most obviously, Olgrim is extremely susceptible to magic or weapons of a holy nature, with the mere presence of certain artifacts or spells more than enough to cause him considerable pain (in fact, this is the only phenomenon capable of causing him pain at all). Any damage caused by such means are nearly one-hundred times as difficult and energy-draining to mend, not to mention time consuming. Secondly, damage caused specifically by mithril has thus far proven to be permanent, or at least effectively permanent, his many scars attesting to this trait. Olgrim requires the souls of living creatures to sustain himself, absorbed through physical contant, and without absorbing at least five per month he will assuredly, and finally, 'die'. The souls of animals are acceptable, though they provide considerably less energy than any sapient being, as the spiritual strength of the creature is directly proportional to the energy gained. The most glaringly important weakness is that the protection of the amulet containing the souls he has collected must be absolute, as the destruction of it, much like a lich's phylactery, would cause instant and irreversible destruction.

Powers: Necromancy: Olgrim is an extremely capable necromancer, as he has had over six hundred years to practice this art. He is able to raise undead minions of many sorts, craft flesh golems and stitch together chimeras of various organisms, as well as directly drain the life force of other creatures to embolden either himself or his creations. The minions he is able to give 'life' require considerable preparation, with the most simple and mindless ghoul taking several days of work to the most complex of golems requiring a decade or more. The power and vitality of these foul creatures is of course relative to the invested in their creation, and they are equally vulnerable to the same sorts of damage as Olgrim himself is, if not more. Additionally, aside from some very rare cases, none of them are capable of regeneration like he is. The length of time they're animated (or summoned, in the case of spirits) also depends on time spent on preparation.

Soul Magic: In line with his natural, or rather unnatural ability to sustain himself through the souls of others, it simply fell in line with his best interests to hone soul focused magic of other natures. By tapping into the power of either the souls he has stored in his amulet or sapping said power directly from others in a small area (50 ft maximum), he can emply two techniques known as reading and shaping. He's capable of seeing, and to some extent 'reading' the soul signatures and auras of those around him, where their true inclinations are laid bare for him to see. This effect is an activated one, and its usage drains his energy fairly rapidly, so he typically relegates its use to situations in which an obscured truth is something that cannot be risked. Soul shaping is more complex, or at least more versatile. Olgrim can manipulate the soul energy he uses, manifesting as the shining blue fog seen in his amulet, into various forms, such as barriers, weapons, or areas of effect he refers to auras. These auras can be laid over existing objects or undead flesh, causing them to take on the same damaging qualities as the shaped objects. The damaging effects are not immediately visible in that no unusual external harm seems to occur, but in reality Olgrim's created weapons strike directly at the life force of those they come in contact with, absorbing soul energy directly into them. These weapons or auras last for a maximum of one hour, and though they do not require a constant upkeep of soul energy, the cost is considerably more than soul reading, with a large barrier or weapon taking nearly a quarter of his monthly soul allotment. Holy armor, enchantments, weapons, or other similar warding magic are enough to defend against his created soul armaments or auras of empowerment, at least temporarily. With enough sustained damage the two forces will either break through each other or render each other inert, depending on the relative strength of each force.

Biography: Born in Denmark in the early 15th century, to a name he no longer remembers, the abomination now known as Olgrim Ulrich once lived a relatively happy, if not difficult life in the service of a powerful and well-hated warlock. Since his early childhood he had been beholden to the man's every whim, living each day in fear of the consequence of failure. Though he was certainly terrified of his master, Olgrim made several close friends in the other servants of the tower, though over the years their numbers began to dwindle. By the time he had turned twenty-two, the tower's only inhabitants were his master, himself, and one other servant, a sweet girl named...well, it hardly matters now. One dreadful day, during his regular cleaning of his master's quarters, Olgrim stumbled upon his master's wand, the first time he had ever seen it unguarded. In a moment of negligence, or perhaps simple curiosity, Olgrim laid a single finger on the wand, and was struck dead on the spot.

The dreaded warlock of the tower, Germund Ulrich, had been watching him all along, the wand having been placed there as a test. Disappointed with his underling's lack of foresight and caution, but not willing to let the burly young man's corpse go to waste, he set to work on what would prove to be his last experiment. Over many months, and many gruesome rituals, the last of which having taken the servant girl's pure, innocent soul as a reagent, the man who once lived and breathed through the tower's halls was remade as the unholy beast he is today, with his one last friend's unjust death the final catalyst. Upon his reawakening, Olgrim was 'lovingly' given his current name, and in no more than ten seconds afterward, he laid eyes upon the still body of his only friend, perhaps even his love. Blinded by the hate, rage, and overwhelming fury he had for this man, this creature who had stolen all that was his own, Olgrim tore Germund to pieces with his bare hands before he even had a chance to scream.

Laying his friend's body to rest in the fresh snow outside, Olgrim spent the next several centuries locked away in the tower, the only place he had ever really known. In fear for what the outside world might do if they found him, Subsisting on wildlife alone , Olgrim spent his countless, sleepless, breathless days and nights poring through his former master's library, and his many hidden secrets that he had never known of in life. Though baffled by the manner in which it found him, his course was changed one day when a mysterious letter arrived at the tower's doorstep, even addressed with his secondhand name. Apparently aware of his nature and the magical prowess he had painstakingly developed over the countless years, it claimed to offer safe haven, away from the prying eyes of those who might do him harm. Ostensibly wary, but unwilling to spend an eternity reading over the same musty tomes and spell grimoires, Olgrim took passage to the island of Manta Carlos, and was eventually offered a teaching position at its college. He has lived there ever since, nearly in excess of one hundred years, and currently takes up residence in a small, unassuming cottage at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Whatever may lay in his path, Olgrim intends simply to do what he knows more than anything, and that is simply to survive.

Additional Information: Always carrying his gigantic, trusty stone shovel, and one or more ghouls or other minions are often following him.
