After receiving a rather unexpected and very disturbing phone call from Roldan about Shale being taken to hospital, Celeste ran upstairs to find Azure, explained quickly what was happening and if he could look after Ebviony. Then, hurrying back downstairs, she grabbed her winter jacket, cell phone, and purse and flew out of the house, making it to the hospital in record time despite the somewhat icy streets.
Once the car was parked, she ran into the hospital, and straight to the reception area. There Celeste asked the nurse at the front desk if she could tell her anything about her son, Shale Forestier.
"Ms. Forestier?" a young doctor enquired almost seconds later, having overheard the petite white-haired woman asking after one of the victims of that afternoon's strange disaster while he was handing in a patient's chart to be filed away.
"I'm Doctor Granger," he said as he escorted her a bit to one side. "I attended to your son injuries when he brought in," he explained.
"Shale is in intensive care at the moment. He suffered some pretty extensive damage this afternoon. Your son has several burns that are healing well, as well as a few cuts and abrasions." he explained, giving the better news first. "However, his wings have been badly damaged, and will need a few months to heal properly."
As the doctor explained to Celeste the extent of Shale's injuries, she could feel herself growing more and more worried. She was a healer herself, and when professionals had a hard time healing things, she knew it was probably near as bad as it could get.
"Can I see him?" she asked the doctor, worry etching her features as she tried not to panic and to keep the panic out of her voice.
After a moment, Dr. Granger nodded. "Yes, he's on the next floor, Room 17C, but try not to agitate him, and if you can, try to keep it brief, at least for today," he suggested.
"Thank you, doctor," Celeste said, grateful that she could see her son.
Walking quickly down the hall, Celeste took the elevator up and followed the doctor's instructions, quickly finding Shale's room. Once outside 17C, Celeste entered quietly, afraid to wake Shale up if he was asleep, and afraid too, in a way, to see her son in such a state.
