<div align=center>Perhaps Hadrian could find a book with gryphons in for Ania, did she read? He hoped so, Hadrian liked to read, though he found that most boys his age didn't. He thought it was strange, reality was no fun, it was much better to lose yourself in a world full of dragons and knights. Hadrian hadn't seen any knights around, but dragons... He hadn't seen those either, there were strange things on this island though, it was wrong to doubt the existence of dragons. He glanced down to Ania, and smiled as she spoke. "Cooler?" He asked, tittering softly and snaking an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close and holding her there for a moment. He glanced over to the baby, do they lay eggs? He thought, briefly. "Huh, I can think of someone who's cuter and prettier than any old... Bird cat." He prodded her gently in the forehead.

Hadrian decided he'd much rather have Ania at his side than any mythical beast, that sounded cliche in his head though, so he kept it to himself. He couldn't help wondering what they were now, slightly closer than we were half an hour ago. "I guess everything is a mother-creature in one way or another..." He answered softly, turning to the girl and tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. His eyes flickered over her face, admiring her for a moment or two. Hadrian leaned forward and pressed a small kiss to her forehead, "you wanna go get something to eat? I'll buy you something from the gift shop, if you like."</div>

Cuter and prettier? She had assumed that he knew he was attractive, but she didn't think he was all that egotistical. Oh, well she supposed he had the right to think himself cute. Pretty, too. Boys could definitely be pretty, though pretty wasn't a word she would have described him as. "Yes, you are quite pretty." She had to think about how everything could be a mother. If everything was a mother, no babies would ever be born. Some fathers weren't very motherly, either. But fathers had to care about something, right? They could mother over the thing they cared — her thoughts stood still when he reached out for her face. She felt fingers brush the side of her head, and she resisted the overpowering desire to shake her hair out so he would do it again.

"Eat...?" She had temporarily lost all thought processes, and had to fight to remember what he meant by that. "Oh! Eat, yes. Let's go get food somewhere." She hated asking people to buy her things, especially people she like liked. She couldn't really think of anything she wanted to buy, she supposed the zoo wouldn't let them take their pretty parrot. "Penguin! I want a penguin. Stuffed, though. I don't like real penguins anymore."

<div align=center>A bemused look crossed Hadrian's face, did she think he was talking about himself? "I was talking about you." He confirmed, lifting an eyebrow. Hadrian was vain, but not that vain. The boy laughed softly and shook his head, he realized he hadn't explained the second thing he'd said very well, he supposed he meant all animals can be motherly. Even crocodiles? He asked himself, especially crocodiles. They carried their babies around in their mouth, didn't they? Hadrian thought that was cute, aside from the fact that crocodiles where like smallish dinosaurs. He wasn't sure he'd like a crocodile for a mother, his father had owned a tank with a small Caiman in it, it had glared at him every time he'd walked past.

Hadrian didn't mind buying things for her, he was more so being nice than he was trying to show off how much money he had, he tended not to do that anyway, people always wanted to borrow from him, he never saw it again after that. He didn't mind buying Ania presents at all though, he didn't really want anything in return for it, either. "You can have whatever you like," he promised, "I believe I promised you a mountain of candy, too?"</div>

Enlightened, she suddenly felt rather silly for saying that he was pretty. Her hand pressed into her cheek, Ania shrugged a bit. She didn't think she was prettier than a magical catbird. If she was able to get whatever she liked all the time, she hoped she wouldn't turn into a spoiled creature. Though, for now she thought she could be happy with a penguin. "Matching penguins! You should get one too. Then we can both have one. They can be friends!" Or lovers. "They can live on the mountain of candy together! And make lots and lots of baby penguins. As friends, of course."

Food. She had the strangest desire to consume as many chicken nuggets as she could. Zoos usually had them on the kids menu, didn't they? "I want chicken nuggets. So badly." Chicken nuggets upon a mountain of sweets sounded like an excellent plan. She wouldn't mind sharing with her ... Lover? Boyfriend? Somewhat-close-boy-but-not-there-yet-friend ...? "Hey. What are you anyway? I mean like, since you really like me and I really like you. What is that?" Ania wasn't quite sure what to class him as. He didn't really fit completely into any labels she could think of.

<div align=center>Matching penguins sounded like a cute idea, Hadrian didn't really have any use for soft toys, but it could sit on his bedside table so long as Altair left it alone. "Penguins mate for life." He stated wistfully, he thought they did anyway. Emperor penguins certainly did. "They find each other after the girls leave for a long time, because they can remember each others calls." He thought that was cute, it was clever. Though he thought he'd be able to remember someone he loved's voice, even if he hadn't seen them for a long, long time. He didn't think being separated from the person you loved for so long sounded like very much fun though, you'd get lonely after so long.

Chicken nuggets? That made him laugh, it sounded like a good meal, though. He seldom ate chicken nuggets, since his oven went unused, but that didn't mean he didn't like them. People that didn't like chicken nuggets were probably crazy, or vegetarian. Her next question caught him off guard, since he didn't really know the answer to it. Nothing had been confirmed yet, they hadn't decided anything. "Uh... I... What do you want me to be?" He asked her, stopping, and looking down at her. He hadn't asked her to be his girlfriend, yet, so perhaps he should? He hadn't wanted to push her into anything, but if that was what she wanted, that was okay, right? "Cause I... Uh... Was wondering the same thing."</div>

Ania remembered reading something about penguins mating for life somewhere. They presented pebbles to the mate they desired, almost like a wedding ring. She felt a bit bad for penguins, since they had to go away for so long. At least they remembered each others voices, though! It would make things a whole lot messier if they kept forgetting.
What did she want him to be? That was a good question. She wasn't normally so forward with the relationship issue, but it had started to bother her now. It was slightly better than a store clerk mistaking them for a couple and insisting on how cute they were together, though. "Um. I dunno, I think I'd like you to be Hadrian. " She has taken quite a liking to Hadrians after all. "This is so awkward." She couldn't very well say 'yes, mate with me for life like the penguin do.' It felt desperate to say anything other than a humourous remark, too.

"I don't know what I want. I think I just want you?" The last part sounded awkward and somewhat cheesy, and she couldn't help but cringe a little. It was the truth, though, she didn't really know what she wanted other than just that. Hmm but she also really wanted chicken nuggets. Maybe this would be better discussed over chicken nuggets.

<div align=center>The situation wasn't as awkward as it could be, at least they both felt the sane way about each other. Rejection was the most terrifying thing in the world to Hadrian right now, or at least it had been fifteen minutes ago. Now, he wasn't as worried as he had been. He took a moment to speak again, "would you say no if I asked you to be my girlfriend?" He asked, quietly, lifting an eyebrow and absently weaving his fingers through hers, it was an affectionate notion. They hadn't really known each other for an incredibly long time, but maybe it was better that way. He liked her all the same. She was pretty and sweet and she made him smile. He was different around Ania, for the better.

He shrugged, "you don't have to decide now." Not if she didn't want to at least. The last thing he wanted to do was force her to do anything, he was treading carefully right now, just in case. "We can go as slow as you like," he smiles softly, reassuringly almost. "Or not. Whatever works for you." He would wait for her if he had to, he had decided he didn't really mind.</div>

Blinking slowly, Ania had not expected that question quite so soon. She was a little stunned at the sudden blow, and mildly flattered that he had developed those feelings for her so quickly. In the past, she had turned people down no matter how much she liked them. The fear of being hurt kept her from reaching out. Hadrian looked like a heartbreaker if she ever saw one. That kind wasn't sweet, though. Nor were they willing to wait on a decision. She felt a strange respect for this person, and all at once, she made her decision. She lifted their intertwined hands, examining their fingers. They fit awfully well together.
"I think I'd say yes. How could I resist that cute face?" The fear of the unknown was still there, but she had decided that it would perhaps be nicer if she didn't spend her life in overwhelming caution. In any case, he provided ample support against penguins.

She liked him, he was nicer than most boys her age. It wasn't difficult to notice that many male specimens only went after girls to get in their pants. If they were rejected, they moved on. Instant gratification was in the forefront of their small minds, and she was impressed with his statement to go slowly. She wasn't about to give her body away, but she felt that she could afford to invest her heart. "I've only ever had one .. boyfriend before. You'll have to teach me quite a bit, I'm afraid."

<div align=center>Hadrian might have looked like a heart-breaker, but that was far from the truth. He was sweet if he liked you, and he certainly liked Ania an awful lot. Hadrian probably would have waited weeks for Ania to make a decision, he wasn't the sort of person to put pressure on people and push them to do things. He was incredibly mellow unless you made him angry, and Ania was probably the absolute last person on earth right now who would be able to make him angry. He didn't think Ania could make anyone angry, she didn't really have the capability to be irritating. She was chirpy and optimistic, and it was nice. The girl gave out a vibe that made him smile.

One boyfriend? He thought that was incredible, she was so pretty that... Hadrian shook his head, asking about it wouldn't be the right move. He didn't like prying into people's pasts, no matter how much he liked them. Besides, he supposed he'd only ever had one or two real girlfriends. "Teach you?" He smiled a little, pulled her close and ruffled her hair. "I can do that." He could try at least, he wouldn't mind making an effort for her.</div>

It had been quite a while since she was able to call someone boyfriend. Just the word made her shiver. Boyfriend. A stupid smile appeared on her mouth, and she ducked her head under his arm. A little embarrassed at herself, Ania broke away uncertainly. She wanted to test this whole relationship thing out. What did people even do when they were together? More research would be necessary. What should they do now anyway. The animals were all starting to crawl back in their homes, and many were no longer visible. "Okay, food now? It doesn't look like the animals want to be stared at anymore ... "

Her gaze dropped back to the bears, and even they had mostly submerged themselves in their den. The plastic moulding that made up the rock caves was slick in the sun. It looked like it had been cured with something to make it look more realistic. "Hey. Do you think they have little stuffed bears in the shops, too?" Perhaps it was better that she didn't go to zoos all that often. She would end up adopting a stuffed animal of each thing she saw that day, her favourite species would change and mold faster than the stock exchange. "What do couples even do?"
