CAFETERIA - COMMON LOUNGE - LIBRARY
The ground floor is the most popular area of the facility. Here, there are plenty of things to do.

The common lounge is a sort of living room, with wide couches, and plenty of tables and chairs, and a TV. This is where the patients socialize and talk. Some do hobbies here, like paint, draw and do puzzles, just to be around other people.

The library is in the room to the right of the Common Lounge. It isn't particularly extravagant. There are four bookshelves and two desks with four chairs surrounding each. Most of the books are used and donated. There are a few gems and a few classics, but most seem to be obscure for good reason.

The cafeteria is at the left of the Common Lounge. It's a large room with wide lunch tables. Food is served Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. It's typical hospital food. There's a small store in the cafeteria people can buy snacks and beverages from.

She felt…so alive.

Crysta had always had health problems. As the first Kintoc and human hybrid on Toc, she had been treated like all Kintoc in how her body was tampered with. The synthetic organs, the removal of parts of her brain, the artificial replacements—she lived through all those surgeries, but her body was always not quite right from it. She was in constant pain, and her organs often shut down and required her to reset them like a faulty computer. Her legs often gave out on her, making her unable to walk for long spans of time. And her mind—well, it was like any Kintoc: her ability to retain information was incredibly high, but her emotional capacity was drastically dampened.

But along came the Riddle Effect, and now Crysta found that she did not have to monitor her synthetic organs so closely. They seemed to be at no risk of failing on her, and needing to be restart. And her mind! Her mind seemed so…oh, she could not even find the words. Everything around her seemed more vibrant. Was this what it was like to experience emotions without them being watered down to almost nothing? Was this what it was like to be closer to her human side? Why was the Riddle Effect changing not just her body, but her mind? Crysta had so many question!

In that particular moment, she was looking at herself in the mirror. Her blonde hair was starting to grow back—just peach fuzz on her head now, but nonetheless it was finally coming back. But it was really her face that had her taken aback. She felt such a weight lifted from her when her chronic pain vanished, and she couldn’t stop smiling. It felt incredibly bizarre. Kintoc were not supposed to smile so much. If they did smile, they were supposed to cover their mouth with their hands until it passed—like a cough or a sneeze. If she were smiling so much like this back on Toc, it would have been assumed she had gone mad. But Crysta did not want to constantly cover her mouth, even if the habit still lingered in her subconscious.

She left her room then, and headed to the library. She needed to better understand what she was experiencing. These new emotions, these stronger feelings. She grabbed a mix of books: some psychology, and some poetic. The psychology was just a refresher—it was really the poetry that she wanted. She couldn’t understand or relate to poetry in her ordinary state. Her emotional state lacked the nuance and complexity to relate to emotionally-charged poems written by humans—but now, perhaps now she could finally understand.

Despite being half human, she had never felt so human in her life. Could this so-called 'illness' last forever?

Kaya was burning up, but she was fucking cold. Not only did she have Popsiccus Incendium virus she also had Kainflammatio Magicae both of which seemed to be compounding upon each other. So now she was pink instead of her glorious purple, She couldn't use the shadows to cloth herself anymore so now she was wearing her... to put it simply ODD choice in clothing before she had went all shadow. So she was wearing what she many described as 'Punk'. Even as she walked towards the common room, for she was sick (haha) of being in her room with four other people, she had a blanket wrapped around her. Once she was there she sat down on the couch and leaned into the back rest.

"I hate this magical virus... wouldn't be sick other wise." She whispered to herself. Her thoat sounding dry and sore even to her own ears. It hadn't gotten better after yelling at Lochlann on the beach and at first she thought her skin was now permanently pink from being in the sun long enough to turn her skin tomato red. But here she was fearing being touched by anyone, the light kept hurting if she opened her eyes for to long. This just fucking sucked on so many levels.

Mia sat alone in the cafeteria, staring at her phone. She looked like a mess: her hair thrown in a sloppy bun, her clothes disheveled from quickly throwing them on. She was normally smiling and approachable, but today only stressed lined her face.

Going into quarantine was a decision she had made on her own after she began to show signs of Kainflammatio Magicae—Logan and Dorian weren’t even aware. But between being sick and pregnant, she felt it was in her best interest to stay where she had easier access to doctors.

She had no idea if the virus could potentially affect the pregnancy, and frankly the doctors didn’t seem entirely certain either, but she didn’t want to take any chances. They said they would monitor her condition closely, and that was all Mia could ask for.

She texted Logan:

I’m in the quarantine area. I let them know I was pregnant so they are keeping a close eye on me. I figured it was better to be safe than sorry. Love you.

Then she switched to text Dorian. Her backlog was full of cute messages and heart emoji—before she had told him. Now it was just uncomfortable silence between them. Another reason she had gone into quarantine. Dorian was barely at home, and the silence was so heavy. He needed space. Time without her around, reminding him of the mistake she had made that was now changing his life.

She couldn’t seem to find the words she needed to say—even though they were literally the same ones she had just texted Logan. Instead, she switched back and texted Logan again:

Can you let Dorian know? Thanks

Coward.

Mia put her phone down, along with her fork. The cafeteria food was not sitting well. She rubbed a hand over her sensitive stomach while her other arm propped up her aching head.

A tablet sat on one of the cafeteria tables. The device had belonged to Nikki, and she had used it as a way to sneak into the quarantine so that she could keep Jacob company. Being that she was nothing more than a digital character, she was immune to the virus itself, and since she could download into the device and be carried around without anyone even knowing she was there. That was why when Jacob had informed her he was going into quarantine, she had made him come and pick her up.

He was here somewhere now with her. He had put her on the table and gone off, from what she assumed might have been to get something to eat. Needless to say, he had left her face up on the table, so looking through the Tablet's digital camera she was only able to see the ceiling above her. She sighed, the sound being able to be heard from her speakers as she tried to look around to no success.

To anyone walking by she would look like a character displayed on a screen, and not much more. She had tried in vain now to talk to a few people as they passed by, but so far not many people seemed interested. She really hoped either Jacob or someone else would come by and prop up her tablet so she could see around rather than just straight up.

He returned, soda in one hand, a bag of chips being held in his tail. To say that Jacob looked unwell was an understatement, he looked awful. Patches of his skin was red as if burnt, his eyes were red from lack of sleep, overall he looked a mess.

"Sorry about that," he said as he sat, his normally smooth British accent disturbed by his horse voice. "I hadn't eaten all day," he said giving a grin to show he was keeping his spirit up, "got a bit peckish."

He propped her up so he could look at her proper, "thanks for coming cutie." Some of the other patients were giving him strange looks, but he was talking to his kinda sorta girlfriend, he didn't care.

Tatsuo turned his head and coughed into his arm, the immediate area around him dimmed as if the light was being sucked away. Like everyone in quarantine he was sick, and the virus was affecting his powers, in this case it was partially activating his darkness summoning.

He tirned back to his friend, they had met not long ago, bonded over their shared love of music. "Sorry about that," he said grinning a bit, trying to keep his spirits up, "damn shadow powers on the fritz." The young man spoke in a light Japanese accent, he could speak without it, but saw no need to.

"No problem," Remi responded, slightly jealous that even still got to keep his powers. Hers was practically nonexistent, and only made her skin have a rock-like texture to it. Or at least the skin that was still shown. Because of one of her strains strains she now looked like an actual deer-owl furry, which pissed her off in so many ways she wouldn't be able to think straight enough to list them. Then again, maybe it was the horrible joint pains causing her to have trouble thinking, or her memory loss. At the very least the pills were dimming her struggles a bit everyday, and helped her shed some fur and feathers.

"How do your powers work anyways? I don't remember learning that shadows were an element." A Shadow oricenta sounded pretty cool though. With all the work her maman Béatrice was doing, maybe she could make that a thing. "Is light one too?"

Steven was hating everthing about this damn virus. Not only was his throat and head seeming like they wanted to kill him. He couldn't seem to regulate his tempreture in the slightest. He wasn't sure if it was the flu symptoms alone that was doing it, or the fact his effected powers had to do with fire and ice. Heat and cold. In Steven's mind that wasn't the worse of it though. Even as he sat in one of the chairs of the library, constantly switching between having his jacket on and taking it off. It was the fact he hadn't managed to finish a single page of the book he was reading in an attempt to kill time that he hated.

Everytime he started he ended up zoning out for some reason, having to restart because he lost his place. Starting to grow frustrated when he zoned out once more due to Crysta entering the room. The current lack of control over his powers reacted to the annoyance he was feeling. One of his fingers holding the book, burst into flames. Nothing much more then a candle flame but paper did need much in order to catch on fire. "Goddamnit!" Steven cursed slamming the book in panic and throwing it to the ground. Leaping from his seat to slam his foot down on it to put out the last of the fire rather then risk using his powers to put it out.

Left standing there, Steven start to look around the room to see if anyone had seen what happened, but once again spaced out looking up at one of the lights hanging from the cieling. Like someone basking in the summer sun.

She smiled as he propped up her tablet. luckily he had done so in a way that she could now use the front camera to see him, and the back one to see behind her. it gave her a much wider view of the room. "You really don't look good. It's a good thing we came here." She remarked as she sat down against her background image. "So... What kinda chips did you get?" She had never liked chips, but since entering the game she would have given anything to be able to eat again.

Using the rear camera she was able to see the rest of the room fairly easily. Not far off she could see Mia texting away on her phone, though the young woman seemed wrapped up in her device to notice them. She could also hear voices and minor disturbances around somewhere. She thought it sounded like someone throwing something, but she couldn't see who or where. it was probably nothing.

"So... what's our room number? And how are we going to handle sleeping arrangements?" Nikki asked, returning her focus to Jacob. "I mean, I ain't gonna sleep on the floor, and a gentlemen should offer up the bed... So... yeah?" She started to laugh a little now. Of course, she wasn't going to make him sleep on the floor. "You can prop me up on a bedside table or something. I got plenty of books downloaded. I could even read to you. My mom used to read to me when I was sick. It always helped me sleep."
