Quincy almost felt the silence that came after him admitting his lost memories wondering if that was too much information to spill. He bit his lip, about to try and steer away the conversation, but Jae spoke first and for that moment he turned to him with a little smile. "Well, there's gotta be some good things to remember," he said almost jokingly. The blonde looked towards Jae for a moment, who had his sights towards the island, which Quincy assumed he probably wanted to go back now. Quincy's expression fell, though he tried to hide it. He still really didn't feel like going back, but now it just felt like he was burdening Jae with his insistence to stay out at sea. So at the end of it he had to agree. "I... guess we can start heading back," Quincy said meekly, carefully turning himself so he was floating upright. "But yeah can we... go slow? Y'know cruise the waves" he asked, followed by another forced out chuckle.

"Yeah. We can do that. " Jae said, a small smile formed at the phrase "cruise the waves". He motioned for Quincy to grab hold of him again, and once the other was secured, Jae set a steady pace forward. At this speed they should reach the island in twenty or so minutes. Thankfully the water was calm, and Jae did not tire easily.

"Have you thought about what you want to do after school?" He asked, to keep conversation going. "I'm not really sure myself." Jae admitted. College was something he felt he would end up attending, but never knew what he would study. He went through school with the idea he would get as much of an education as he could.

Quincy seemed to still seeing Jae smile and if it weren't for the sound of the waves around them. The blonde looked averted his gaze from the merman as he clung to him, feeling a bit self conscious enough to surprise himself. What on earth was up with him? The waves seemed to calm him though, once they were on the move, enough that he didn't need to hide anything but a hint of hesitation in his voice when he finally spoke up. "After school? Ah... I haven't actually thought about it," he began, humming thoughtfully. "I mean, I'd still have college, but I still have more than a few years before that so I haven't really considered it yet." He chuckled, "I was told I should go for something I really like but that's a lil' hard too. What about you--what're your options?"

Go for something he liked. Jae felt that he was always expected to earn a college degree, ideally in something in business. Anything that could get him a respectable and high-paying job. However, Jae found he could care less about getting a job simply because it pays well. With his powers he would never be short on money, so maybe he should go for something he liked.

But what did he like? "I. . . I'm not sure." Jae said, "I like acting, but I don't know if I could make a career out of it." Didn't lots of people try to make it as actors? And very few ever made it big. "I suppose I still have time to think about it."

Quincy hummed along in agreement and understanding at Jae's first response. Quincy also hadn't much of a clue, but he never thought to hard simply because he always got the "you're still young" card. When that would reach its limit though, he'd never cared to wonder. So when Jae declared the same thought, he nodded along. "Well... I don't really know much about acting and career but I bet you'd be great at whatever you go for," Quincy said rather confidently. He seemed so sure, despite 'not knowing much', up until his words sunk in and a sense of bashfulness took over. "I-I mean well. I think you could take a shot at it -- like being an actor or something," he said followed by a stifled chuckle. Yikes, why was he getting all nervous like this?

Quincy sounded quite confident in him, despite how little they knew each other. Still, the compliment was nice and he felt hopeful. Though he only started acting a few months ago, he was quite skilled at it. Maybe he could be one of the few who made it. Jae smiled, even though Quincy couldn't see it. "Thank you. I think I will. Try it, it can't hurt to try?"

Jae felt the water around them and relaxed further as he felt nothing dangerous close-by. "Is there anything you like to do?" He asked. "Or a class you really like in school." Quincy was supportive of him and Jae wished to return the favor. They still had some time, as the island was only now coming into sight.

Quincy smiled back at this thanks, biting back a giggle bubbling in his throat for some reason. "Can't hurt to try," he echoed softly, as if to cover up his nervousness. The blonde hummed, his eyes trained on the water moving around them so he didn't need to thin too far into the whys of him being flustered. "Hm.. I was kind of getting into gardening, but I can't stand too long under the sun lamps," he said. He was interested in most living things really, but indoor plants were just so much easier to take care of somewhat. "I do like most my science classes! Though honestly I thought of trying theater a few months back but I chickened out," he chuckled meekly. He didn't want to mention it was because the lights spooked him one time and decided he didn't like the stage.

"Gardening sounds fun." Jae said, and thought about it some more. "Maybe you could take care of night plants? Like, um, I'm sure there are some plants here that only grow at night or need moonlight or something. Maybe underwater plants.

"The theater club is fun and we're very welcoming." Jae said and looked over his shoulder to shoot a smile to Quincy. "Even if it may not be something you want to do as a career it could be good experience? Though, I think there is a gardening club at school too."

Jae has seen several fliers about for the outdoorsy clubs.

"Underwater plants?" Quincy echoed, his tone expression showing as if he hadn't ever had the thought occur to him at all -- well the night plant has, but the underwater sounded like it was the best idea ever. Aquatic plant gardening? "That sounds like a great idea!" he said cheerfully. Though his train of thought seemed to get easily halted when Jae turns to him, giving him a smile. The surrounding was dark considering they were still far into the water but oh, having night vision was a blessing and a curse, depending on what one sees. Quincy unconsciously averted his gaze, "I-I've considered the gardening club, yeah,. But I always just kinda backed out at the last minute." he stammered out, managing a little chuckle after. He bit his tongue ever so slightly for stammering."Y-you think I should audition for the theater though?"

It felt good to make a suggestion that Quincy liked. "I bet you'll be good at it." Jae added, especially as Quincy didn't seem scared of the water in the slightest. "I think you should, but I'm pretty biased." Jae chuckled. "It's fun to see new faces joining up. With more people we can put on bigger productions." So he was very biased. "But you should do what you feel comfortable doing. You don't have to force yourself."

Either way, he found himself hoping Quincy picked a club that really interested him. American schools and the Academy didn't put the same pressure on students that his old schools in Korea did. Something Jae found strange at first, but then freeing. Students could be teenagers or kids and not fear about their future career.
