“Enough, all of you are to stay away from him.”

Those were the words Remiel said, before Gany ran off. He didn't understand what was going on between Remiel and Sazz, or why Remiel believed Sazz was such a danger to everyone. What he did understand was that he wanted to hang out with Sazz and get in touch with him, and now he didn't know if he could. All because Remiel stepped way out of line and issued that command.

He spent a little bit of time in his room being despondent and sorry for himself before he realized he had a way to solve this problem. It would just be a little awkward to explain.

He washed off his face and left his room to search Monday's apartment. "Monday?" He would need his help, too. "Monday, can I have your help with something?"

Voices, one male and the other a high pitched squaw, could be heard from the kitchen as Monday puttered around the apartment, chatting with Garry while he placed his dirty dinner dishes away in the dishwasher.

"Ganymede..." Garry squawked happily, hearing his "brother" approach before he even called out or entered the kitchen.

"Gany, Gany... Gany..." he chanted as he hopped down from his perch and flew over to where the young Neko was.

Placing the last fork in the dishwasher, Monday chuckled, used to Garry's antics and clear affection and enthusiasm towards Ganymede.

"Hey the-..." he started but stopped mid-sentence when he immediately noticed, as Gany entered the room, that he seemed upset.

"What's up? Is everything okay?" Monday asked as clicked shut the dishwasher.

Usually, Garry cheered Ganymede up a little bit. He was a charming little bird. But Ganymede was too distressed right now.

He took a deep breath. "Well, I have a problem. You know how easy it is for people to... talk me into things," he said. "Someone was telling a bunch of us at the community center that I have to stay away from Wednesday's boyfriend Sazz because they think he's dangerous. But I was thinking about joining Sazz's club for magic users at the school."

He swallowed. "And now I don't think I can." He felt terrible. He hated that something so small could give him so much trouble. It felt so pathetic.

If garry perched near him, the catboy would gently pet the little bird with a couple of his fingers,

Garry immediately sensed that Gany was not alright and flew up onto the table next to him and made a beeline for the catboy.

"Come," Monday said, his tone calm despite the concerned look on his face as he pulled back a chair for Gany.

"Have a seat," he said as he gestured to the chair while sitting himself in the other in front of him.

Once Gany had made himself comfortable ... with Garry hovering next to him, Monday continued.

"First off, have you actually tried to sign up to the magic club?" he asked Gany, his tone gentle as he tried to find out all the facts.

Ganymede obeyed each of the things Monday told him to do.

Normally, this wouldn't be a problem. Monday didn't abuse Ganymede's weakness. Today, he was painfully aware of how each command hit his brain. Come. Have a seat. He squirmed a little in his seat when he got there.

"I haven't tried to sign up yet," Ganymede said. "I only learned about the club today, from Sazz. And I thought I could make new friends there, if I joined."

Monday nodded in understanding. Gany's compulsion was quite similar to Monday's and the other witches' curses.

"Well, first things first," Monday said as he glanced thoughtfully at Garry who had waddled up to Gany and was now accepting his scritches placidly.

"Let's see if both you and I together can find a way around this before we try anything to undo it, okay?" he said reassuringly, measuring his words as he best could. Monday wanted to basically find a way around the compulsion so that Gany - if he was ever again compelled, might be able to find a way around its consequences.

Ganymede gave Monday a bemused look. What was this about not wanting to 'undo it?'

"Okay..." he said. "I actually had an idea already, though. Which is, you can just tell me Sazz isn't evil and it's okay for me to be around him. Or one of my friends who know about this problem can talk to me about stuff like that." He paused. "Unless that's what you mean by undoing it."

"Sort of," Monday said with a nod. "And I do mean to undo it... it's just, he paused, hesitating as he ran a hand through his hair.

"It's what you said... you wanted to join Sazz's club to meet other magic users, " Monday said, stressing the last part.

"I was wondering, if ... " he wasn't sure he could fully articulate the logic behind his thought process. "If the compulsion worked, if the reason for going there is not to see Sazz but ... to meet others?" he mused.

Ganymede thought about that - tried to make it work in his head. But to no avail.

"What happened was, an angel named Remiel got upset about Sazz because he used to be a demon. He had this outburst where he commanded us to stay away from Sazz, and he went on this rant about how he thought Sazz was trying to trick us or hurt us somehow. And I don't believe a word of it. It's all preposterous. But... that part of me does believe it, even though it's not true, and it made me go away because Sazz was around."

He took a breath and gave Garry some more scritches. "Now, I feel like I'd have to leave if Sazz showed up at the club meeting, because I have to stay away from him."

Gany didn't think it would matter why he went somewhere. He would have to leave if Sazz was around. And he hated it, and he hated how effortlessly Remiel had put him in this bind.

Monday frowned at the angel comment. Religion and witches had had a rocky history over the centuries and Monday was not a fan of angels or anything that self-branded themselves as the authority of what was evil and what wasn't.

"That was wrong to do and extremely uncalled for. I hope somebody explained to him that he can't go around maligning people like that," Monday said, obviously irked by such arrogance and lowkey angry that Gany had to experience that.

"What would you prefer me to do? Undo what was said, or something else?" he asked, letting Gany decide what he wanted him to tell him.
