"Oh, that sounds delicious! Though, I probably won't be lucky this year in getting candy for Easter. I haven't heard a single word from my family since they dumped me off at this island." Nine said. But even though he was practically abandoned by his family, his mood was still surprisingly light, and he still seemed happy. His family had been boring after all, why even think of something already done. "Before, when I was at home though, my parents used to shower me with candy! They knew I loved sugar and I can't seem to gain weight, so its all a big win."

He grinned and laughed lightly. When she seemed to get sad, and Nine, who didn't understand sadness at all, didn't even notice. It usually seemed the only emotion he was able to understand was joy, happiness, and excitement.

"Say much? You can hear them talk?" He asked, very curious.

He looked at the girl when she was approaching. She was younger, but that never mattered. The crows seemed to be attached to her, which was odd, but he didn't question it.

"Hiya." He responded to the girls' small hi.

But then, before he knew it, that crow that had been sitting on the younger girls shoulder, flew off and landing on his mat of blond hair, and pecked at his tiara. Instantly his eyes went wide, and he flung his hands to his head, attempting to thwack the crow away with one, while his other hand, thin fingers snatched the tiara from his head, clenching it to his chest.

He ducked his head down, free arm covering it, not wanting the bird to jump on his head again.

"Annnnaaaa! Save me!" Nine whimpered. Usually birds didn't scare him, well, he didn't understand fear, but he still didn't exactly like them, just like he didn't like dogs. He was more of a cat person.

"Your family dumped you here? Padre doesn't even know where I am right now." Or at least to the best of her knowledge he didn't, she had run away after all. "Well, since we won't be getting candy from family, how about we just give some to each other? I'm sure I could get some money to get some somewhere."

Ana laughed a bit at his question. "I can understand everything but gibberish and techno-babble." She wasn't very good with technology beyond what was needed to know to color and go on the internet.

"Hey." She smiled at the girl. "Do you think you could...?" The crows she was just about to ask about flew away in a hurry and she relaxed again. "Thanks. I, uh, get overloaded a bit when there's too much talking. I mean, it's fine most of the time, and I can handle a forest okay. It was just kinda sudden I..." She didn't get to completely finish before a crow flew at Jiu de head. She watched, stunned, as he batted it aside and grabbed the tiara off his head. When he asked for her help she jolted out of her stupor and moved her body between him and the crow. "Note to self: brush up on crow, you're far too rusty." She thought for a couple seconds, trying to block the crow's advances, and made a portal behind them. She watched out of the corner of her eye as a matching portal sprang into life behind the crow-girl before grabbing her new friend and rushing them through.
"A little assistance please?" She asked, closing off the shimmering link between two spaces. "I can't remember my animals."

(Visual note: I imagine Ana's portals as a circle in space, showing where they link to but with a bubble-like effect over it. So the colors are distorted in places.)

Hisako!

Aiyanna was appalled, she hadn't truly met anyone in the school yet, and now that she did, weird stuff was happening.

Hisako the crow let out a startled caw as a portal appeared behind them and the older girl pushed the older boy through. When they were gone, she flapped her wings for a moment, then set herself down on the ground where the two of them were just seconds ago.

Where did two legs go?

Aiyanna was deeply unnerved. Sure, talking to crows, and all the other stuff she could do was perfectly normal, but making portals? Scary.

I don't know

Still unnerved, she turned around to go back inside, but the moment she turned around, her jaw dropped and her eyes went as round as coins.
