God he was bored! There didn't seem to be anything to do around here, and he still didn't have many friends. At his last school he hadn't had friends either, well, he did have a couple, but he was mostly made fun of there for his odd dressing habits and the fact that he paints his nails and is Never, Ever, seen without the tiara crown that even now sat upon his head.

Today the sixteen year old was laying on his stomach on the grass, elbows propping him up, his feet lightly kicked the ground. In front of him laying on the grassy ground, was a coloring book, that happened to be from Disney, a bunch of different pictures in it, more then half of them were already colored. Next to this coloring book was a box of crayons.

He pulled out a brown one and started to color the Beast on the left page, adding different shades. He seemed to be quite good at coloring, but he had always been good at artsy things, he even drew good, but that usually bored him too much unless he was drawing a butterfly, which he seemed to love.

Nine hummed a song as he colored, and one would notice that a white ear bud was stuck in one eat, and a iPod happened to be laying next to him.

Today was a warm day out, nice fall weather, but far over some trees, dark clouds brewed, threatening to blow towards the school, threatening to rain, but Nine didn't even notice, too wrapped up in his boredom and coloring book to pay any attention to something so trivial such as weather, sides, it looked like he had some time before the clouds came closer.

Sighing, he dropped the crayon, staring down at the coloring book, biting his tongue lightly, but quickly picked a different colored crayon up before the boredom could set in.

Ana was in the courtyard again. It was definatly her favorite place to be on the island. She shook her hands a bit to dry her nail polish. She had found an amazing color that she loved. It was a shade of green that she couldn't describe but she adored it. Today she had already finished her homework, so she had come out simply to enjoy what was left of warmth for the year. The sun was shining overhead, though a storm promised to blow in later. Even if she couldn't understand the animals talking about it she could still see the clouds.

Upon walking a little way into the grass, she noticed a boy laying there... coloring with crayons... with a tiara on his head. She walked up to him and bent down, letting her hair dangle and touch his as she looked closer at what he was doing. The coloring book was full of Disney characters. Interesting.

"That's, really good." It was true, it wasn't often that she saw someone who could shade that good with crayons, and never in person. "I'm impressed." She went down on her knees next to him. Looking at his face she noticed that his hair covered his eyes, how could he see what he was doing so well?, and butterflies here and there.

Nine heard someone coming, though it was hard listening to music in one ear, but he felt the person nearby, but he didn't stop coloring, and amazingly the boredom was suddenly gone. When the girl spoke, he smiled, and sat up, legs folded under him.

"Thanks! Few other people say I'm pretty good too." He said, smiling. He brushed some of his hair away from his eyes so he could look at the girl better. He glanced at the picture briefly. Though he was good with art and coloring, his parents hadn't always approved of it, maybe it was because he liked coloring and drawing Disney characters and butterflies.

"I'm Nine!" He said, beaming cheerfully.

When the boy looked up at Ana she beamed. "You're welcome. I never could get shading down traditionally." She got a quick look at his eyes when he swept his hair away but couldn't quite place the color, but it definatly had the feel of grey in it.

When he told her his name she blinked and rose her eyebrows. "Nine? You don't look nine. Unless..." She trailed off and thought a second. "Your name? Your name's Nine?" She smiled and almost ran a hand through her hair before remembering the almost dry polish. "My name's Ana, it's nice to meet you." She thought for a bit, feeling weird about calling someone a number, too much like things that she'd heard of and didn't want to think about. "It feels weird calling you Nine, do you mind if I use something different? Like a different language or something. It'll still mean the same thing, but won't feel so weird. Or do you like your name the way it is? Or, um, nnn..." This wasn't comfortable conversation, couldn't they go back to art? But she had to finish not that she started, despite the fact that her face was the color of a ripe tomato. "Um... Ooh, Chinese! In Mandarin Chinese nine is jiu! Does that work for you?" The word sounded simular to Joe, but with a strange accent to it, and there was a fall and rise in her voice when she said it.

"It takes a bit of work... since I'm usually bored it's something to do and eventually I got pretty good at it. Just have to work at it I suppose." He said, not really thinking about it. He had always liked art, and it was his driving boredom that got him to be good at art.

When she mistook his name for his age, he snickered, grinning. A lot of people did, but it never bothered him. "Yeah, my name is Nine." He said, laughing cheerfully. "Nice to meet you too, Ana!" Hopefully now he would be able to get a friend, he loves having friends, it keeps his boredom at bay, and friends like to play with him.

He listened to her talk about it weird calling him Nine, and it defiantly was odd, since no one knew why he was called Nine or why people forgot his real name, but that didn't even bug him, but he smiled when she went on about, like calling him Nine but just in a different language.

He tilted his head to the side, curiously.

"Jiu?" He questioned, before a smile broke over his face "Sure! I don't mind."

He leaned back, pulling his legs up to his chest, wrapping his arms around his legs. He then reached into his pocket and pulled out two lollipop suckers, and handed one to Ana. "Want one?"

"So, Ana, my new bestest friend, do you like to draw or paint, or anything?" He asked, smiling.

"Okay, Jiu it is then." It still felt a little odd, but it was better. Definitely better.

"For me, really? I love candy! And fudge. Is fudge considered candy?" Ana grabbed the stick with two fingers and carefully unwrapped it with her teeth. "I hate the drying time." She noted after getting it open. "I feel so helpless."

With wrapper bits in a loosely clenched fist and the sucker tucked in her cheek she leaned back a bit herself and re-arranged her legs into a more fun position, one that people kept telling her would ruin her knees, but fun nonetheless. "Well Jiu, wo de hao pengyou" She started, using the Chinese phrase for my good friend, "I like drawing cartoons. I'm not that good or anything, and I don't always finish, but it passes the time and I like it."

(I'm sorry it took so long, very sorry. I think the tone marks on that phrase are third, neutral, third, second, but I'm not positive. Ask Charles XD Now to get some fudge from my brother...)

Aiyanna walked into the court yard and stood there waiting. She wasn't there long before she heard the distant sounds of many crows approaching.

With a great amount of noise, the gathered onto the walls, trees, and pretty much everywhere they could get too.

Hisako, her own crow, sat imperiously on her shoulder.

What do you think Hisako?

Humans

Aiyanna noticed a couple of much older people sitting on the grass nearby.

Should I talk to them?

Aiyanna wasn't good with people, and these two were much older people. What was she to do?

"Mmm, yummers... I love fudge too! And its candy in my category! But it has to be chocolate or its no good to me." Nine said, wrinkling his nose and sticking his tongue out slightly, smiling. He snickered at what she said next and nodding his head slightly. He pulled the wrapper off his own lollipop, and sucked on it silently, enjoying the taste, while rocking back and forth, as if unable to sit still.

She spoke Chinese again and he didn't exactly understand it, he didn't really know any other language, but it was interesting to hear her speak it. She liked drawing cartoons she said, Nine liked to draw that too, though, he still preferred drawing butterflies and other little animals.

"You should show me some of your drawings sometime! And I can show you some of mine! Though, I mainly draw butterflies, like this one," he said, pointed with one finger at the butterfly on his face that had been drawn with a marker.

"Life gets sooooo boring, so I draw, its entertaining, and doesn't get that boring very fast." If he had found it boring in the past, then he wouldn't be drawing even now. He despised things that were boring. Like books, unless it was manga.

"Who's that...?" He looked over to another girl, who had a crow sitting on her shoulder. It was a bit odd, but look who was thinking that? He was a boy, who painted his nails, and wore a tiara on his head. He grinned, and then waved to the girl with the crow, to be friendly.

"Oh yeah, chocolate fudge is the best. Especially the big fudge eggs I used to get for Easter... all those years ago..." She drifted off, not really wanting to think about it. "Heh, yeah, those were always so good."

A few more seconds of silent thought were broken when he started talking about art again. "Okay, sure. I can get my stuff out when I'm dry. Which should be shortly." Her smile was almost real, just a little sadness left. She'd get over it quickly. Just a few more seconds.
Gone.
Happy again.
"Nothing wrong with butterflies. They just don't say much. Or at least, not out loud, most of it's visual with butterflies." She smiled a little brighter.

Ana looked over too. "I have no idea, but she brought a lot of noisy friends with." She looked from one group to another, catching snippets of a conversation here and there. This was going to take focus.

(Emo moment of the day brought to you by Roxas. LOL I can't wait 'till I get another fudge egg. I shall wait though, but only because I must.)

Aiyanna blushed slightly when the boy with the taira waved at her.

What should I do?

Talk?

The ten year old took a big breath and walked shyly over to the much older students of the school.

"H-hi..." She said quietly.

CAWWW CAWWWCAAWW

Aiyanna looked up at the huge numbers of crows that were everywhere.

I thank you for your concern, but you may go now.

With a sound equvaliant to a hurricane, some of them took off and flew to the southern parts of the island (where most of the nested). Aiyanna's crows took off as well, though they decided to stay in a nearby forest.

Shiny!

Hisako leapt off her shoulder and landed on the boys head, pecking energetically at the tiara.

Hisako!
