Hazel hummed to herself, working in the kitchen. It was a normal day, just baking a pie for no reason. Her final year was winding down of school, and it was getting fairly stressful. Plus with all the planning she needed to do with opening up her own shop had been rather rough on her. Social interaction has been low, save for Lorry and Haru.

But now was not the time to think about it. She was making strawberry pie, as she was just kind of hankering for some. There would definitely be enough for a bit, and maybe she would even invite someone else to have some. Not now though, for now, it was done. She was in a longer white shirt, reaching down to her knees. She took the pie out of the oven, setting it on the windowsill for it to cool off.

Seven

Seven was out much like he would usually be as he found the dorm rooms to be a bit stuffy at times especially when the people inside would start to stir. He had given his Dorm parent a notice that he was leaving for a large portion of the day after donning his clothes (a simple black shirt and white shorts), putting his padding on his hammer, and combing his hair. Ever since he had come to the island he had been in the habit of wandering from place to place on his own.

He went throughout the day going to many of the cool places he had found during the limited time he had been on the island. His young mind wandering while doing so. Eventually though, he found himself wandering into the Residential areas on the island. He hadn't eaten all day and started to feel hungry. That is when he smelled something nearby. He didn't particularly know what it was, but he knew that whatever it was smelled quite sweet.

He followed his nose and found himself wandering towards a random residential place. He didn't particularly know who's it was, but he saw what seemed to be a pastry on the windowsill. And, while he would not usually find himself doing so, he went up to the windowsill and peered through it.

He saw the lady on the other side and was quite surprised. She had white hair and seemed to be near his height. He put on a smile.

"Hello Miss! Nice to meet you. Sorry if this sounds a bit weird but can I maybe get a piece of that? I smelled it from a little bit away, and I just followed my nose and it brought me here"

His stomach grumbled almost as if to emphasize his desire to eat part of the pie.

Hazel perked up, noticing a young looking boy staring at the pie she just baked. Was he a kid in the neighborhood? Or a kid living in the dorms? Probably would be rude to ask a question like that. "If you want a piece of pie, you'll have to wait a bit."

She leaned on the windowsill, making sure not to touch the hot pan under the pie. "It's got too cool down for a little bit. However, if you are hungry, I can make you something else for breakfast." Usually parents would try to feed their kids, so he was probably in the dorms and just didn't have breakfast. "If yes, I'll get the door for ya." If yes, Upon opening the door, Seven would notice that the girl was missing half of her left leg.

Seven

Seven nodded enthusiastically when offered breakfast. The lady inside seemed nice enough, that being said, Seven did not have the common sense that most children of his age would have had. There was no one to tell him not to trust strangers. There was no one to discourage him from eating something given to him by an unknown source. There was no one to stop him from even interacting with those he shouldn't have. He did not have the common sense to not accept something offered to him from another person.

When he went to the front door he looked at the woman standing in front of him and noticed her left leg as she opened the door. He just stared at the leg, not out of any malice, but more out of a simple curiosity that plagued a child his age. His eyes went from the leg to her face and then back to the leg. He then beamed radiantly, his eyes seeming to sparkle with the innocence that only an untainted child could have, so much so in fact, that those who knew his life story would be left confounded on how a child like him could produce such a face.

"Miss thanks for offering to make me something to eat. And your leg looks awesome!"

Seven walked farther into the house his hammer noticeably dragging behind him.

Hazel was amused at the young boy's enthusiasm, but he was probably a bit too trusting. It probably wasn't her place to talk to him about that, but it might worth be mentioning anyway. However, there was a small chuckle from her as the boy looked at her missing leg. She wasn't surprised at the reaction, as a lot of people had that when they first found out.

"Of course. Although it's not really awesome as I don't have a leg there to look cool." She gestured for the boy to follow, leading him to her dining room by floating there. "Is there anything you can't eat? Would rather not poison you. Also, my name is Agatha Arlnest, but I go by my middle name, Hazel."

Seven was in awe when looking at the floating lady in front of him. He hadn't encountered a person like her before. The mere fact that a person could levitate like that was a novel sight to Seven so when she went farther into her abode he took a moment to process what he was seeing.

After being ushered to follow the lady that apparently wanted to be called hazel he scratched his chin with the hand that was not being used to drag his padded hammer behind him. He had to think for a second before answering Hazel's question.

"Ms. Hazel I do not have any known allergies! I have always been a good eater as well! I will be happy to eat whatever you make me!"

Seven then smiled and pulled up a seat at the dining table, leaning the handle of the hammer on the side of the table next to him in order to keep it within a second's reach from his position at the table.

"Ms. Hazel, You have a cool name! I dont have a name myself!"

The boy was definitely surprised by her floating. This will be something that he will get used to while living on the island. The fact that he wasn't allergic to anything was also quite convenient at least. "Alright, thank you."

Hazel turned over, a bit surprised at his next comment. "No name?" Is that a species thing? No, it wouldn't be, most species usually have names anyway. "How do you not have a name? Is there something that I can at least call you by?"

Seven scratched his chin. Of course he had been asked this question before and he always answered it the same way, but this time he decided to explain himself a little. He turned to Hazel and smiled before explaining.

"Miss Hazel, My species does not allow the naming of children before the age of ten, but since I was the seventh sibling in my family. You can call me Seven! Its not a name, but its something that I have been known by for the first nine years of my life."

"Seven...." She folded her arms, humming. "Well, I know I had some uncles and aunts joke about that, but I didn't think anyone would literally do that. What species are you, by the way?" Her first guess was dwarf, but that was almost definitely wrong. It was the hammer though mainly that gave her that idea.

She would be within talking distance still, going to the kitchen. "Well, you are nine then. So, you will be getting a new name then, right?" She was making some eggs, keeping it simple for the boy. It was also a bit of way to get a bit more info. A bit underhanded, but in a sweet way.... Hopefully.

Seven looked at Hazel and smiled. He was asked this question quite a lot, probably because there were so few that he knew of that lived on the island. In fact he had no clue if there was any more of his species that actually inhabited the island. He was so pitifully ignorant in that sense. So when he opened his mouth to respond he hesitated before answering.

"I am a Soulbound, generally speaking we are born bound to an item that is birthed from our bodies at a certain age. I think the most common thing I have heard people call me is a dwarf, but they usually correct themselves soon after Mrs. Hazel."

Seven, still smiling quite radiantly, listened to Hazel's next question before thinking about it. To be honest he knew nothing of how it usually worked, only that his father had given his siblings a name during their tenth birthday. And as he sniffed the food cooking, he thought of the best answer.

"Mrs. Hazel, I don't think I have anyone that is able to give me a name so I dont think I will get a new name on my tenth birthday."
