Dalia had been down here for a full day almost. It stank and made her coughing worse. And when she coughed, she ignited. And fire just made the stench worse. It was a vicious cycle, really. But she needed to be here. She had to talk to the one person who she knew wouldn't sugarcoat things or tell her what she wanted to hear.

Nasci.

They had had these infrequent chats every so often, to the point that Dalia was afraid that people were going to find out. But the only person who knew was gone. Gone and probably never coming back. That thought made Dalia sick to her stomach. She clung tightly to the web bundled snacks she had stolen the night before, her first night away from home and on the run. She hoped these were enough to appease the centipede.

Nasci's antenna perked as they an anomaly among the other putrid smells of the sewers. This new smell had the acrid stain of char and a hint of vinegar to it... a smell that brought a curl on Nasci's lips for she knew whom it was. For some time Dalia and Nasci had infrequent talks with one another, what drew the spider to the centipede was a mystery to her... and perhaps even to Dalia herself. Most people she would have considered eating but since that damn restraining order prevented her from getting too close to Dalia, she was off the menu. Instead she settle with the occasional discourse with Pandora's spawn, something to distract herself with when she is feeling less peckish. And now once again, Dalia comes to her... it certainly has been awhile since their last talk hasn't it~

"Fu fu fu fu! Oh come for another one of our fireside chats have you? To what... may I owe this delightful pleasure~" greeted Nasci, creeping out from shadows. As she inches closer, she raises her body as high so that she may down upon the fiery spider.

"Brought me an offering have you? My oh my... how thoughtful of you Dalia dearest. You certainly come fair from since we first meet now haven't we?" cackled Nasci, her eyes then narrowing onto the bundle of silk that smelled of treats. Nasci however still maintaining a respectable distance from Dalia, enough to avoid the invisible barrier that keeps them apart at least "Well pleasantries aside... why is that you come now pumpkin? You only really come to me when you have something eating at your brain like a wriggling maggot."

Dalia heard Nasci's voice before she saw her and her mouth dried out. She thought she was ready for this, but she wasn't. God she was so stupid! And now she was trapped until Nasci decided to leave.

"I-" she tried to start, but couldn't find the words for a second. "Yeah, i brought you snacks. I'll hand them out as we talk."

She tossed a bag of chips towards Nasci.

Where to begin? She had gone over this so many times, but she didn't know which part was worst. No, that wasn't true. She knew exactly which part was the worst for her. She was crying now, the one thing she hadn't wanted to do in front of Nasci.

"M-Mama left. Phaedra too. And I-I don't think they're c-coming back. And-"

For everything, she should have been more worried about what Vatar told her. But she felt worse because she felt abandoned. Mal had left for Mes. Pandora and Phaedra had gone to Hell. She still had Amber and Chloe and Jafar and her friends. But none of them understood quite what she was going through. They couldn't understand what it felt like because they weren't made of anger and lust.

"-and I'm d-dying..."

From there she spilled it all, tossing out snacks intermittently to keep Nasci quiet while she spoke. She didn't have a head about her to deal with more taunting until she was done with her story.
She told the centipede about hlthe coughing, the exhaustion, the ever growing feeling that she wasn't put together properly. How she randomly caught fire and threw up black stuff that didn't look like anything she had eaten.

When she was finished, Dalia looked up at Nasci. The one person she knew for a fact had no reason to make her happy. "I don't know what to do..."

"Ohhh having to make me wait for my deserved treats... oh how cruel! Forcing me to stay and listen to you woes." pouted Nasci, whose tune quickly as soon as Dalia tossed over the bag of crisps. "Oh chips! What flavor I wonder... hard to smell through this plastic..."

Nasci was only half payed attention to Dalia as she was too busy popping bags of cheap snacks into her mouth every time Dalia tossed them to her as if she was a circus animal. "Ohhh... what flavor is this one? I do not recall ever tasting anything like this one before... Oh wait you said something that you were slowly dying was it?"

Now this was intriguing, Pandora's little brat was doomed to expire. It made Nasci wonder why Pandora would even bother trying to protect her if she wasn't even going to last. Well it seemed like Pandora had enough of playing mother anyway and set off for hell... back to her old ways she presumes, along with one of her other daughter from the sound of things. And Malara off on someplace called... Mes? Regardless, Dalia was even more alone than ever... even as she was slowing decaying. Well this was a real treat~

"Fu fu fu... oh so this is what its all about~ Your very physiology is coming undone like oil separating out water. Fu fu fu... an affliction that I am all too familiar with my own bastard children... and if you are anything like my babies then I say you only have... a few years at most? Though you don't look so great so who knows how much time you really have left~" giggled Nasci, before letting off a shrug

"Well if I ever had a good motherly relationship with my own brats I would tell them this what I am going to tell you: Make the most of your short... miserable... existence. Your limited lifespan gives you all the more reason to enjoy your life to its absolute fullest... while still can. Oh and maybe spend that time with people whom actually care for you? Because I sure don't care for your well being... nor your mothers for that matter." hissed and taunted Nasci after giving her words of wisdom. Nasci takes small delight in her jab against Dalia's mothers as it seemed befitting for her to remind the kid how alone she was in this world. Better her to at least teach the child the value of looking after one's self as neither of her moms were around to do that job for her.

"Now... don't you have any more snacks for me cupcake? Cause I am feeling a little famished." yawned Nasci, her interest returning to snacks that Dalia carried.

Dalia's face fell. She knew that would be the response, but it still stung horribly. She felt her chest fill with anger that pushed out all of her fear. And as the anger grew, she enflamed once again. There was no explosion, as there had been earlier. All of the gas in the sewer had burned away.

She bared her fangs and flexed her claws, skittering towards Nasci with murderous intent. Unconsciously she knew she wouldn't get any closer, that Nasci would be forced backwards with every step she took. But she wanted to try.

"You're wrong! If you didn't care, you wouldn't come talk to me! You hate my moms because they beat you. And if I die, you'll never get the chance to eat me!"

She was snarling now, advancing ever further and cursing Nasci in their common demonic tongue. Tears streamed down her face in full now.

Oh this was too precious, the little demon making her threats! Of course she could afford to make them since neither of them can reach one another. Its easy to be brave and foolish when there is no real danger in one's actions. But Dalia's advancements did force her to move back with each step that Dalia took forward.

"Oh please sugarplum... just because I don't care for you doesn't mean I don't have to humor you. Were you not the one whom came to me in the first place? And it was only Malara whom beaten me... something that I should repay in in kind some day... there is nothing quite like the taste of divinity. Your whore of mother Pandora however took great pleasure when I was eating her fat juicy ass. And if given the opportunity again we both know that I would do it again fu fu fu~" taunted Nasci as she slowly backed away from Dalia.

"Ohhh you do make an excellent point... if you die now I will never have the pleasure of dining on those crunchy spindles you call legs. With such vigor in your voice you almost sound like as if your looking forward to me munching you~" remarked Nasci

"Mhmmm... if you were my spawn I would kill were you stood for all of those awful things you said to me. If you were my lover well... I would almost blush..." chuckled Nasci, before her face turned serious "But you must you cry so much? Are you really that terrified of dying? I already told you to make the most of it but you seem instant on wasting tears and times on me when it could be spent on... I dunno... whatever makes you happy?"

"I came to you because you're the only person I know for sure understands what I feel! These awful, fucked up desires I have! I thought-"

What did Dalia think? That Nasci would see a kindred spirit in her? Try to befriend her? Mold her into a greater demon to spite Malara and Pandora? How stupid of her. She continued to advance, locking her eyes on this woman before her.

"You want to know what I want? What would make me happy?" Dalia opened her mouth to speak, to issue forth another slew of epithets and vile, lewd descriptions of the torment she wanted to inflict on her. All drawn from her memories of her mothers, their thoughts filling her head.

But no, she realized. That was what Nasci wanted. For the first time, it fully clicked in Dalia's brain. Nasci was down here to make her hate herself more. So she didn't say any of those awful things, things that she knew Nasci would use as more fuel back at her.

"I'm gonna to live. I'm gonna to prove I'm better than anything you spawned. And you'll still never get the satisfaction."

She was leading Nasci back towards a dead end. She figured she couldn't force Nasci off the edge of some drop off to her death. That would be too good to be true. But Dalia could still back her against a wall for once. Every step she took, an idea formed more concretely in her mind.

Nasci grinned, expecting another torrent of venomed words but they never came. Instead, the hotheaded spider demon for once had tempered and restrained herself. Such dissatisfaction... like eating a good meal that was gobbled up all too soon. When when this child ever learn that the happiness she yearned was to embrace her inner demons... just as she herself had to cope with those many centuries ago.

"Live you say? Fu fu fu... even as your puke out the blackest bile out of your system and whom fire is extingishing? For one whom desires to live you seem to be failing at holding yourself together? Though, the very fact that you have not come undone already makes you far superior to most of the demonlings of my brood." admitted Nasci as a devilish grin curled onto her lips.

"If you really plan on living then here a few considerations... based on what I know my own little brats whom tried expand their limited lifespans since they always had trouble... holding themselves together, much like yourself. For one... you could try to devour your siblings, I recall that you had a few I am sure eating one wont be much of loss. My own children preyed upon each other just so that they may extend their own lives by a few more wretched years. Or you could devour your own mother as I have... her essance might be what you need to stablize what imperfections that you have. Though I can't say the same worked out for my children whom where foolish or desperate to try that on me fu fu fu~" cackled Nasci, as she fondly recalled the last of her children that she ate that tried to eat her.

Sure that little biter got the jump on her but it was hardily a fight once she got her talons on her even as they put up good struggle. That was decades ago if she recalled correctly. Nasci only got out of that thought when she felt cold damp stone against her back. As she looked behind her she saw that it was stone wall that she was forced up against. Nasci furrows her brow, then looks back to Dalia.

"Ah, it would you ran me against a wall..." hissed Nasci whom then continued

"... so as I was saying: if you don't have the stomach for spider flesh then you could try to appeal to some... higher demon or other power whom can impart some of their strength to stabilize you. Some of my babies sought that very route but only made themselves slaves for their efforts. And even with their servitude it did them little good, I think most of not all of them eventually got destroyed upon falling their masters or when their patrons grew bored of them. Oh but that is the fate of the little pawns getting involved with games by beings of statue far higher than you or I. The only other recourse I can think of is somehow separating out your demonic nature. There was one brat that I had whom thought himself so bright as to preform a ritual to rid himself of his demonic heritage that he could save himself from the fate of his siblings but only managed to rip himself asunder. If there are any of my children whom have managed to overcome their inherent instabilities... well they... they certainly haven't bothered with telling their concerned mother~"

Nasci grin grows wider, her twisted smile stretching from check to check as she tells Dalia of the failures of her own children so that she could understand what terrible options will await her.

"Fuu fu haa haa HAA HAaaa!~ Oh find hope or despair in the lessons of my spawn. May their failures be a reminder the folly of spending what little existence you have to save yourself yet only succeed in hastening your demise. In in what little success they had in extending their lives... know the cost they endured."

After erupting into laughter that echos down the sewers, Nasci composes herself... looking to to Dalia as if daring her

"Perhaps... just perhaps, you will find success in the path they have taken in their struggle to live... or even forge your own path and find a different way to mend the conflict of your natures. So...will Dalia wither away like a flower baking on the very sun that gives it life? Or... will she blossom into something... wondrous? Mhmmm... if you do surprise me, I hope you ripen into something... delectable." prompted Nasci, licking her lips at the thought of how tasty a plump Dalia might be...

Dalia tried to take another step towards Nasci, backed against the wall. She was certain she could take the older demon. She was fire. Nasci couldn't eat fire, right?

But the magic wouldn't let her push any further. It strained against her, forcing her to keep her distance. She tried several more times, leaping into an invisible wall of force and pushing against it in vain.

Eventually she felt her anger subsiding. She couldn't keep this up, not the way Mal could. She remembered all her lessons and exhaled slowly. And Dalia listened. Really listened this time. For all Nasci's poking and prodding and insults, she said one thing that made Dalia pause.

Cut out her demonic side.

Was that even possible? Would it even work? Would she also get 'ripped asunder'? These questions filled Dalia's head. But above all, she thought to herself.
That sounds perfect.

She exhaled. She had a lot of things she wanted to say. A lot of impulsive threats and insults to sling back at Nasci. But none of it would matter, and somewhere inside she knew it. So Dalia settled for saying, "I'm gonna prove you wrong."

She turned, facing away from Nasci. She had a lot to tell Mal about. Hopefully Mal wouldn't call the cops. She didn't want Nasci in jail where she couldn't see her beat this thing. Whatever it was. She crawled up onto the ceiling of the sewer, out of the water, and began skittering her way out. She didn't bother saying goodbye. It's not like they were friends, after all.

As much as Dalia tried to approach her, the spider demoness found herself in the same dilemma that prevented her from eating Dalia in the first place. Since Nasci was physically incapable of moving any further back, Dalia was was unable to move any further forward. She could sense the little demon's frustration of being repulsed again and again... a frustration that Nasci understood all to well.

Once Dalia finished her little tirade and took in all that Nasci had to offer her, she apparently found something in her words. Something to to at least warrant some pause from Dalia. Whatever it was, it was enough to change Dalia to change her tune and take on her dare to prove her wrong. Bold or foolish, the little demon seemed set on her way to try to preserve herself... whatever method that might be.

"Fu fu fu! Please do... tasty surprises are such a delight" mused Nasci as she picked her teeth, watching the spiderling turn and leave. Dalia then began to crawl on the ceiling and skitter away like the bug she is, with hardly any fanfare as she leaves Nasci to the darkness. Not even bothering with a goodbye... a bit rude but it wasn't like their was any love between them.

"Prehaps we'll met again... " cooed Nasci, her orange eyes gleam in the darkness as Dalia makes her exit, before she too slinks back into the dark recesses from once she came.
