Klef was perched on bar stool, her legs dangled because the floor was likely too low. Besides the fact that she was sitting and at a club, there was literally nothing else she knew about where she was. What she did know was why she was there, a much milder hostage situation than before with a few people knowing of her whereabouts. Her mind was elsewhere anyways. She was still disappointed that her uncle so willingly put her life on the line like this, but if all went according to plan nothing too terrible should happen, or at least that's what Juniper told her.

Even though she trusted Juniper on this, her suspicions were still up. That's why she decided to convince James to tag along, he was a solid head taller and as long as she had someone slightly more intimidating by her side, nothing too terrible come out of her exceptionally long visit.

She filled a note with chicken scratch, her attempt at writing without sight. Albeit cryptic as hell, she had faith that James would be able to decipher it quickly. In the meantime, she sat, prodding at a drink that common sense advised her not to touch.

It hadn't been hard for him to figure the note out, he knew Klef pretty well, she was one of his closest friends despite everything. Sneaking in had been decently easy, he was good at stealth and his shadow magic just added to it. A quick shadow teleport and he was in the room.

His gray-silver eyes found Klef quickly, a small sigh of relief escaped from him. James had been through a lot the last few months, a lot of pain and confusion. If Klef could see him, she'd see that he didn't look overly healthy.

Slipping in beside her, he gave a soft smile, "hey its me, James." He placed his hand on hr shoulder, "I came as soon I could."

" James!" She blurted out, quickly stifling her voice with a fake cough. Although the music was blasting and the background chatter was noisy enough to overpower both of their voices, she was determined for nothing to foil her small act of rebellion. James sounded pretty worn down, like she wouldn't have been able to tell it was him if he had not told her, but she assumed that he was trying to keep down the volume too.

Klef wanted to give him a fist bump or hug, to act like a normal friend, but if she knew that if she reached out too far, she'd fall out of her bar stool, it wouldn't be the first time it happened either. " Thanks for coming, this place is crazy," she sheepishly laughed, knowing that even crazy was an understatement given the current situation.

" Speaking of which, how'd you even make it here?" She inquired while twirling around the straw of her untouched drink. " Fake ID? Bribery? Fist fights?" Klef listed, her voice growing noticeably louder and more excited with each suggestion.

James couldn't help but smile a and chuckle a little, "nothing so extreme, just a little of my shadow magic, plus I'm pretty sneaky." He'd always enjoyed being around Klef, "interesting place you've ended up in," he said as he gently hugged her.

He took the seat next to her, "sorry I haven't been around as much, been sorta....wrapped up in something." He wasn't going to burden her with his problems.

"So what's wrong?" he asked, "also not so loud," he gently poked her forehead, "let's not attract any attention." He said it all in a calm voice, he knew whispering could draw attention just as shouting could, each extreme could gain someone's curiosity.

Klef half jokingly rolled her eyes, even a few months ago, she would have never thought that magic had become so normal to her that fist fights were way more interesting than shadow magic. Then again, it was easier to pick up on the sound of a punch than whatever James was doing. Still, it was good to have him there with her.

She raised her eyebrow upon hearing that James was up to something. That boy was always up to something, knowing him, James was hurting himself again. As tempted as she was to badger him for answers, there would be time to catch up on that if she stayed.

" Whoops," scrunching up her nose upon being poked on the forehead, " forgot how many people were here." Klef scooted her stool closer to James, " Ok so me and my uncle are being blackmailed...." she whispered, leaning towards him. " So I guess some people have a lot of dirt on us? Anyways, they're using that dirt to try to boot us off, if all goes as planned, I'm going to be gone in nine hours...." She sighed. " He's going to try to find a way to beat the system... typical... but in the meantime I'm stuck at this bar and these guys sound pretty tough."

His eyes narrowed a bit in anger, these people were trying to harm his friend. Not many things could make him angry, this was one of those things. James was protective of his friends, they were basically family to him, they were everything to him. "Is your uncle here?" he asked, if she was being blackmailed then so was here.

"Ok listen," he took one her hand and gently squeezed it, "I'm gonna be here until this is over." James had seen situations like this many times back home, "sorry I haven't been around as much, but I'm here now." Loyalty and care were arguably James' best traits, once you were his friend, you'd likely always be.

The Shadow seemed to be deep in thought, the entity had been very quiet lately. "You're going to be ok Klef," he voice was calm and reassuring, with a strength in it.

Klef hesitated to shake her head, even she was unaware of Juniper's whereabouts, all she knew was that he left a few hours ago to fix the mess both of them landed in. Blind as a bat, not knowing anything other than the fact that she was sitting on a barstool in a club, her paranoia had skyrocketed, yet she was relieved that a friend finally was there.

" Um yeah... I missed you..." She muttered with a hint of reluctancy, shifting her weight on the stool. It was a given that Klef was a god awful friend, and fully aware of it, but that didn't keep her from wondering what he was doing. Of course, now was not the time for jealousy, especially in a sketchy situation with a promising idea was drifting away.

" Ok, so I can't thank you enough already..... buuuuuuuuuut--" Klef paused, a cunning grin snuck on her face, " I think I could thank you more, if we got out of here." She started to get antsy, shifting her weight around, it was going be quite a risky endeavor. " You got in here with no problem... but your call..."
