Vidi felt eyes on him as he made his way to the door but no words came until his hand was on the door. Shay's voice stopped his steps for a that moment, enough to hear her out. It was the least he could do for now. Even then, the words didn't seem to comforting as he wanted to hear them. What was there to miss, he asked in his mind, he hadn't been there that long. But, he retorted in his mind, he was there for a time enough for someone to notice he was there. Long enough to be missed.
Vidi turned his head to face Shay, smiling at her. It was small, but it had more life to it that the one he'd given her this whole time. His eyes shone with tears he was holding back this whole time. "What kind of annoying brother would I be if I stopped seeing you?" he managed to say. He'd gone this far without having to burst into tears; he wasn't about to let them out this soon.
"I'll see you around, Shay. ...Don't be too hard on yourself." Vidi said nothing more and the door closed behind him with a quiet click, finally leaving Shay to her thoughts again.
