Johanna's body relaxes as his hand reaches out her her own. She inhales, then slowly exhales as her fingers reach out and intertwine with with Hadrian's. She wears a soft smile while offering Hadrian her thanks.

"Ah... neither can I Hadrian..." said Johanna, slowly retracting her hand back as she resumes eating her meal. As she munches on her bread and sips on her soup, she listens to her brother's current experience with the school, offering only nods as he speaks until he mentions briefly the clubs.

"Mhmmm... there are a variety of clubs. Have you considered the After School Defense Club? I know that your not taking any combat courses but... at least participating in some defensive training will ensure that your combat skills do not dull. We must always be prepared for any attack or incursion... wherever the might be." recommend Johanna, glancing to some very obvious demonic students enjoying their meals. Her gaze then returns to Hadrian.

They looked like people to him, it was odd, they were demons, but he just saw people, students just like him. "Yeah...I'll think about it," their father's sword had transferred to him when he died, he could focus on learning how to properly use it, but he wasn't sure. "We can always spar," he said with a small smile, "I enjoy that," he usually lost, he was good with a blade, but wasn't as combat minded as her.

"I hear they have a lot of social events here," he smiled, "celebrations and other things, I want to go to them with you." He took a sip of his drink, "and Christmas is coming and I...," he looked down a bit, "I think I might have found a part time job, so I can get you some gifts." His face flushed a bit, he was going to be around a bit less, so she needed to know.

"I know it won't be the same...celebrating here," he looked to her, "but..I still want to spend it with you, make you happy." He loved to see her smile, so he'd do anything to make sure she was happy, "I want to make you Christmas dinner too."

"Very well." nodded Johanna "So long as you keep it in mind. Your always welcome to spar and practice with me anytime you like. They have adequate training facility for us to make us of. Just know that I will not go easy on you... but I think are well used to his fact."

Johanna then curled slight smirk on her face, her brother might be competent fighter but he was never a match for her. Often the only victories he had against her were those that she allowed him to win as that she didn't always make him out to be an embarrassment to their parents. Still, she never went easy on him as she knew on the battlefield, it is experience that will keep on alive during the fighting so in a way their spars made him that much tougher.

"I have heard of these events as well from the other students. I would be happy to attend them with you. Such gatherings serve as important meeting grounds for important individuals that we should familiarize ourselves with. And to enjoy the local festivities of course..." stated Johanna... almost as an afterthought. The the subject came to Christmas, Johanna remained silent. This was... their first Christmas with... just themselves. Their parties may have been... serious sort of folk but even they took to the time to observe Christmas. It was one of the rare times that they took things slightly easier. With them gone however... it just seems... different.

"Ahmm... yes... it will be different now will it." glumly spoke Johanna, her head lowing as she takes an moment to think about those that she had lost... then looks to her brother. "But... I would love to spend our Christmas together. Though... I am surprised that you would offer to make the Christmas dinner but..." she then smiles "... it would be welcomed. You have always been too kind to me Hadrian. I just sometimes wish that... express my gratitude better."

Her voice becoming glum broke his heart, even as she lifted her head to look at him. Hadrian wanted her to be happy, he sometimes had felt that he held her back in life. Rising from his seat, he moved to sit beside her, his arm wrapping around her shoulders. "You're smile is enough," he'd gently lean hid head against hers as he spoke, "I'm going to to make sure our life here is good."

"Christmas...," he sighed a bit, "I want to show that I appreciate you, everything you do for me." He gave her a small, "I'll do my best to show it everyday, but I want Christmas to be special for you, because I'm happy I still have you."

Their lives were a little uncertain now, the outpost was gone and they had no contact with heaven, but they had each other. "No matter happens, I'll always be here for you, I promise that," thing may not be easy, but that would mean they'd have to stick together, stay close to each other.

"Hrrmmpp... for someone born to be a warrior... your just softie." states Johanna, with some amusement as she goes to coolly drink her water. Then she darts her golden eyes to meet his, narrowing her glance as if she is evaluating him.

"Know that I plan to hold you to that promise. No matter what, we will always have each other. Now... perhaps we should just get to finishing out meal? And our melodrama is inviting onlookers." remarks Johanna as she fixes her uniform and takes another sip of soup which indeed has gotten rather luke-warm.

She she looks around, a few curious people looking at their table even if they appear only half-interested. Well what they think matters little to Johanna t the moment. All that they would ever need to know was two siblings wish to give themselves a good Christmas despite their recent tragedy. As hurtful it was to hold back the pain of loss in her soul, this Christmas should be at least bearable to go through with a brother such as Hadrian watching out for her.

He'd chuckle a little, "maybe that's why we work so well," he'd give her a smile, "I'm soft, you're hard, we balance each other." Perhaps it's why they'd always been so close, always worked well together, even as their parents looked down on him and smiled at her. "So we'll stick together."

Nodding, his spirits lifted, he pulled his tray over to himself, deciding to continue siting beside her. "You have to admit though," he'd smile and gently poking her ribs, "the food is good." He'd offer to share the cake he had with her, chuckling quietly as he did.

"I just hope my cooking will be as good," he smile playfully a bit before returning to his food, humming quietly as he did, "I think I'll start making you breakfast in the morning, something to help get the days started."
