I've got an incoming character who's a normie. No powers to speak of, and they're going to Manta Carlos for reasons unrelated to the school. I thought it'd be interesting if part of the family they're leaving behind is actually on Manta Carlos. In my head I imagine they were just told their younger sibling was at a boarding school, and thus are completely ignorant of their siblings non-mundane nature.
This is pretty malleable, and can be bent around - older sibling will be somewhere in the range of 23-26, and I have almost nothing that's mandatory for their childhood history, so I can work around pretty much anything if someones interested.
