[BCOLOR=transparent]<details><summary>EXTRAS:</summary>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Nim first discovered anime as a very young child. His first anime-type show was Pokemon, one that he still admires to this day, regardless of the show’s quality in comparison to others. He owns a copy of every single one of the games, even if the devices on which they are played were left behind many years ago.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]The day Nim discovered his powers is one he would rather not reflect on. However, it involved his injured eight-year-old self in a fit of tears, desperately wanting a friend. He was clutching a Pokemon game in his palm and sobbing, and from deep within he began calling out the universe in the tiny digital card. At some point, the connection just snapped into place, and when Nim opened his eyes, he found himself situated in Tall Grass with an absol eyeing him curiously.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Nim uses his video games as his means of escape. When life gets too hard (or whenever the opportunity presents itself, really) he often just shuts it out, preferring instead to indulge in a fake one.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Nim and Jax’s relationship was actually very peaceful, while it lasted. They were an adorable couple. Jax was extremely supportive and affectionate, making up for what he lacked in booksmarts with emotional intuition. He often bought Nim little goodies when they met up, from new games and books to hot chocolate packets to even a cute little pikachu bow - Nim refused to say thank you, but the way he clutched it was enough to Jax. As time went on, Jax had finally began to convince Nim he was worth something and that he could be loved, though it was something incredibly slow moving. He also slowly started to make him realize that there was nothing wrong with homosexuality, their relationship being an obvious testament to that. As such, Nim began to depend on Jax more than either of them realized, though his ingrained beliefs were always present.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Nim self-harmed for a while before he ever had a name for it and did so by means of scratching and pinching. When he finally found a word for his activities, he looked into it thoroughly. Though he knew through his research that it wasn’t healthy, Nim liked the feeling it supplied and continued, eventually doing more severe things such burning and harsher scratching. He began purposefully antagonizing his father every once in awhile when he was in his very early teens, and first honestly cut himself when he was around 15. The scarring harm, Nim often tries to do where the scars would be hidden well, as Manta Carlos really does get hot during the summer. However, he does have scars on his arms, but only a few.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Nim is somewhat suicidal, but it is not an imminent threat. His thoughts peaked around a month after his break up with Jax, manifesting in a bottle of pills. Fortunately, his weak stomach rejected the mixture soon enough not to leave lasting damage, and Nim could never bring himself to try again.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Though also mentioned in his appearance section, it is notable that Nim wears his pokemon hoodie constantly. While he obviously wears other clothing, his hoodie is almost sacred to him, and upon inspection one would find that it has been crudely repaired several times with off-color thread and, at one point, even dental floss. Nim was pleasantly surprised that fix held up.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]As he got older, Nim gradually lost his baby fat, just as anyone does. He actually developed quite the attractive appearance, despite the fact that it is often hidden behind bulky glasses, messy bangs and a hood. He isn’t a model, unlike many of Manta Carlos’ strangely blessed inhabitants, but he can hold himself well on the island. As his jaw grew more defined, Nim also gained several inches on him. He isn’t super tall, but he isn’t a midget either, resting at a comfortably comparable height. Nim often gives off the impression he is shorter, though, as his clothes are bulky and his posture isn’t exactly perfect. [/BCOLOR]

- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Tries to do everything on his own and refuses to depend on others unless he really needs to - but he only gives in when he is forced to, even then. Very independent[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Very stubborn for certain things, such as his independence and secrecy, but caves on others. It really depends, though he usually has some level of stubbornness about him[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]However, will listen to his father unconditionally, and could probably be convinced to jump off a bridge if his father really set out to make him[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Needs his daily music and can usually be seen with one earbud in[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Is actually skilled with digitally produced music and mixing songs, but it's not his main hobby[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Has a nice voice, but not something to get famous off of. It’s just nice.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Afraid to cry or show weakness while conscious, but does it openly when sleeping[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Doesn’t realize his walls come down in his sleep. If he did, he wouldn’t sleep around anyone. Ever. Maybe not even when alone.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]So deprived of affection that if he believes he is truly being loved, he will accept it without question. This makes him very naive, gullible and dependent, so long as one is strong-willed enough to get part his chilly exterior.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]In extension of the above aspect, Nim does have his limits, regardless of his longing for love[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Very bitter about some topics, and may go as far as completely clamming up and even leaving the room should some topics not be strayed from[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Honestly hates his full first name, but doesn’t mind the nickname[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]

- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Wants to learn to defend himself, but knows deep down he’d be too afraid to use his knowledge[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Enjoys learning about and deciphering the inner workings of the human mind[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Not much of a writer as he just doesn't care to put in the effort, but appreciates a good book[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Actually has a moderate case of ADD and requires daily medication in order to manage it, even at age 17[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Doesn’t ever know how to react when receiving compliments, as he isn’t used to them. Also becomes easily flustered when trying to deliver one. The same can be said for gift-giving, though it’s even harder for him to comprehend[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]After much, much time spent in combat-type video games, has developed good skill in martial arts and other fighting techniques. However, his training in things like strength and speed don’t carry over as memory does, and so he can’t put most of his knowledge to practice[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Has a fear of the dark[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Hard time sleeping as it is, but it’s even harder without a nightlight</details>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Powers:[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]
[/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Currently cannot enter shows. With practice, he may be able to, but this will require IC practice and training to perfect.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Enters the game’s universe, not the game itself[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Outside viewers cannot see Nim, and he does not affect the plotlines played by others in the real world. However, he can change his universe as he wishes, depending on his actions in the game.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Other users of this power enter a parallel universe. Aka, Nim doesn’t affect their play and they don’t affect his.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Can resent game worlds to what they were when he first entered, but that is the only way he can alter the world in such an omnipresent way. There is no undo button, save for IC death.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]That being said, dying in the game/show causes Nim to awaken involuntarily in the real world. It also does an involuntary reset of the game or a revert to Nim’s last save, depending on the dynamics of the game IRL.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Saving is also dependent on the dynamics of a game. If a game only allows saving at specific checkpoints, Nim is limited to these. If he can save at any place while playing in the real world, the same goes for being in the game world. Auto-saving is also a consistent function, and no matter what the dynamics are, saving also occurs when Nim exits a game.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]That being said, when he exits, the game universe is put on pause until his return. This prevents problems such as the Narnia-effect, in which a century passes in a year etc.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Nim does not enter games physically; instead, he enters with his mind, his body being left in a comatose-like state wherever he was before.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]If Nim dies IRL while playing in a game, he also spontaneously also dies in the game. Any person accompanying him is transported back into their own bodies IRL.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]No one can enter Nim’s game versions without him bringing them himself.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]When in game world, Nim has a small watch on his wrist that appears upon entering. It is unable to be removed and disappears upon exit. When someone attempts to wake Nim IRL, or a specific time IRL passes, the watch will flash, beep, and alert Nim to wake himself up.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Can’t be forced into a game world or be forced awake by anything but in-game dying. The exception is if he sets an absolute alarm on his watch, something that will wake him up involuntarily when a certain time IRL passes.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]All worlds are set to a default, absolute time relevancy of 1 in-game hour to 1 IRL minute. Nim can alter this as he pleases, though currently only by a little bit. For all intents and purposes, it is impossible for him to do something such as 1 second in game is 1 year IRL. In-game time must always move faster than IRL.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]When Nim leaves the game, his physical condition is consistent with whatever it was upon entering. This includes changes such as age, strength/speed/stamina/etc gain, hair change, etc.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]His mental state is also reverted, meaning if he were to, say, go insane while in a game, his sanity will be fully intact (assuming it was before) upon awakening[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Strangely, though, Nim hasn’t found a way to completely cancel out fatigue. If exhausted enough upon awakening, some of this fatigue will carry over into his physical self, as will extra energy (though, I mean, this is Nim - when is he ever not tired?)[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Entering/leaving is done with mental cues. Can enter any game universe that he had played or viewed IRL by imagining it and mentally hitting ‘start’[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Both entering and leaving is nearly instantaneous[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Can only bring those he is physically touching into a game. Those who are touching him indirectly (holding hands with a person he is holding hands with, for example) cannot be transported, but this can be corrected with (careful) IC training.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Consistency of the game universe vs game plotline is a bit like IC chat was before certain newer rules were established. Plotline events affect Nim’s universe, but the place in the plot that the universe is set in is pretty fluid, and events that happen in the universe outside of the plot don’t affect actual IRL gameplay. Also, the written plotline isn’t absolute, and the universe can stray from it according to Nim’s (or another’s) actions.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Timelines are consistent and events carry over unless Nim resets them[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Can have up to 5 ‘accounts’ in every game, all set at different places in the plotline if he wishes. Every ‘account’ is like another parallel universe and they do not interact with each other.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Nim is able to modify his appearance in-game. However, at the moment these are limited to small details such as somewhat-related hairstyles, skin color, eye change, clothing change, the addition of accessories like piercings, etc. With practice, he could expand on this, but at the moment this is all he is able to do.
- [/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]
[/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Currently only semi-unlocked[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Must first enter a game and be physically touching the animal in question[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Must leave the game in order to bring the creature out[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Creature will spawn in the real world touching Nim somehow, either against his hand or in his lap usually[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Can have up to six characters at once out[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Current drawback is that any creature spawned will currently have no access to its old powers and abilities[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]This power can be expanded on IC.
- [/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]

Parents were together, living in an apartment in the city, but weren’t married and didn’t plan to be for a while. Father never fully accepted Nim as his baby, but it was easier than abandoning Mother and accepting that she cheated.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Father had always been crazy about Mother, but Mother had a more so-so stance on their relationship[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Nim was born prematurely and was both very small and weak as a child. Spent his first year and a half cycling through the hospital and home. Continued to be a sickly child for the rest of his life, but was eventually strong enough to return home. Father came to resent him a bit for all the money spent, especially since Mother wasn’t working. [/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Once Nim was old and well enough to be normal in a daycare system, he was immediately stuck in one while Mother happily returned to work. His young life was still littered with doctor visits and bottles of medication, but he was able to think and play. Surprisingly, Nim met his milestones at the same time as, or even before, most children, an early sign that he was an intelligent one.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Mother finally walked out on the family when Nim was five or six. A slightly older man, a wealthy ship captain in charge of several important import ships, met and seduced her. Seeing her opportunity, Mother hid the fact that she had a son and hitched a ride with the man out of Manta Carlos. Having no children, impressive powers, too much money and a secluded beach home in some tropical getaway, the man was everything she wanted. How could she say no?[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Mother was never heard from again. Nim likes to think her ship was eaten by a Kraken, when he cares to consider it. [/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Father, devastated by Mother’s abandonment and irritated at being left with their son, took up alcohol before long. This worsened their already poor financial situation and Nim’s hospital bills didn’t help matters. Several times, Father considered giving up custody of Nim to the island, but was continuously pressured into keeping him when he dared to mention the idea. Eventually, he gave up trying.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Nim doesn’t remember exactly how it started. Maybe he got a bad grade on one of his spelling, as school was much harder before he had his glasses and ADHD medication, or maybe he said something a little too snippy. Or, and this was also a possibility, he did something that reminded his father just a little too much of the woman he never forgave. Whatever the start, all Nim can remember is a fist flying into his face and a sharp pain exploding over his cheek.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Nim isn’t quite sure what his excuse was in school the next day, but he thinks he said something about bumping into a shelf and knocking it down. Clumsy as he was, the teachers probably bought it easily.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Things just continued on from there, really. Nim got his glasses some time in kindergarten, as he was so nearsighted he was nearly failing his class, and his inattentive ADHD was diagnosed around the beginning of first grade. As both were severe and untreated prior, Nim had been almost failing even so young.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]However, with new glasses and medication at hand, his full potential was unlocked. Not only did he pick up new concepts immediately, but he zoomed through 1st grade like a kid flash on steroids.As his grades improvd spectacularily, Nim discovered his love for learning as well. This, coupled with his newfound genius, allowed him to completely skip the second grade and move straight into the third.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Nim seemed to settle down around here. He was comfortable at this pace, not too slow and not too fast, and maintained a near perfect average throughout his elementary schooling. However, he was often picked on by the other students. Most of the jibes were directed at his small size, young age, or glasses, while some focused on his dorkiness, his quiet disposition of his clumsiness and lack of athleticism. Nim could usually deal with these alright, but the ones that stung were the rare hits he took towards his home life by the few smart enough to notice his mother was gone and his father never showed up for parent nights. Or, sometimes, he just took hits. [/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Nim’s home situation never really improved. His Father only seemed to fall deeper into his alcoholism, and as he kept losing his job, there was very little money. Nim’s constant prescriptions didn’t help, either. They nearly lost their house at one point, but luckily Father was able to sober himself long enough to pay the bills again. Once or twice, Nim actually dialed CPS to be rescued, but chickened out each time the operator picked up the phone. What would his father do if he was caught? What would happen if CPS didn’t believe him? The risks outweighed the benefits in Nim’s young mind.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Besides, what if his father came around?[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Middle school came on all too soon for Nim, and being a late bloomer in the world of romance, it was only now that he began to notice other people. By people, he meant boys. <i>Cute</i> boys. Not cute as in adorable little puppies, but cute meaning butterflies and blushing and strange new things Nim really couldn’t explain. He wasn’t quite sure what to think of this. Sure, sometimes he saw boys and girls holding each other's’ hands, but usually it was a girl and a boy, right?[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Already being picked on now for his small size and quiet, dorky behavior, Nim wasn’t eager to tell anyone that <i>boys</i> were the ones that clouded his head and made his stomach eat his heart sometimes. He just pretended that the quiet girl from English 2B* was really pretty and, yeah, he would go out with her if the opportunity came, should his friends ask him about it. He only had a few friends anyway. Why give them a reason to maybe, just possibly, not like him as much anymore?[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Somewhere along the way, he stopped noticing the boys and girls who held hands with each other and shared ice cream on the benches. All he noticed now was that he was different, and even though 19 of the 20 people in his class supported alternate sexualities, the one boy who shamed them was the only one Nim could hear. He had successfully convinced himself that being gay was not okay, and it wasn’t like he had anyone to change his mind, right?[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Actually, during his freshman year, someone did. Jax was a real looker, Nim had decided the first time he saw him. A looker, but not so much a thinker, and regardless of the fact he didn’t know what a parabola was, Nim still thought he was really very… perfect?? You can imagine his glee when he was assigned to be Jax’s out-of-school tutor, even though he knew nothing would happen between them (Jax would probably shun Nim if he found out that was bad there was no way that could happen and Nim could never act on his feelings never ever), and you can imagine his shock when Jax planted a fat one right on Nim’s lips.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Nim thinks he might have passed out a little, but shh, that’s a secret.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]After that day, the two committed themselves to a relationship - hesitantly, on Nim’s part, but Jax was very enthusiastic about it all. It was a very sweet relationship, one of those without many arguments and a whole lot of sickeningly sweet fluff. They touched innocently, laughed deeply, and Nim found that he could never really hide his blush. However, despite their immense affections, Nim pushed to keep their relationship secret. Even as he indulged in his relationship, he found he couldn’t accept the fact that he was homosexual, constantly believing that something was wrong with him (but not Jax, never Jax - it was okay when he did it). Jax, on the other hand, wanted to stand on the rooftops and tell the entire island. When the two did argue, it was often over this subject, with Nim barely even explaining his reasons and Jax going along with it only because he felt so strongly. [/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Jax and Nim continued this way for six months, happily devoted to one another. However, as time passed, Jax began pushing to reveal the relationship, though Nim was adamant against it. There was also the added issue of Nim not allowing Jax to come to his home, even with their half-a-year relationship. Though Jax cared deeply for his boyfriend, he was having a progressively hard time following Nim’s rules. Finally, he decided he wanted to break them - or, at least, one.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Eventually, Jax snapped. He asked Nim if he could come over on a Friday after school, and when he was refused, he followed Nim home anyway. Luckily Nim’s father was home, but that didn’t change the circumstances. Nim screamed and screamed at Jax, telling him to leave, but the teen wouldn’t budge. Nim finally began to cry out of frustration which shocked Jax, as he had <i>never</i> seen Nim cry. They held each other for a while before Nim just began talking. He spoke about some of the things his father did to him, not going in detail but saying enough to get the message across. He let go of his walls and finally let Jax in, and his lover took this in stride. As Nim sobbed, Jax murmured comforts, and Nim found himself in a sleepy sort of trance. He made Jax promise not to tell, despite his obvious detachment, and Jax reluctantly did.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]It was then that Jax captured Nim’s lips in a kiss - and one that began to heat quickly, at that. In no time at all, strange emotions began to fog their minds. They didn’t think about the time, the situation, the noises coming from the front door. They only felt and loved, and before long, Jax’s hands had found their way inside Nim’s shirt.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Suddenly, violent yelling was heard from the other side of the living room. Nim’s father, wasted and fuming, stormed over and pulled the two boys away from each other harshly, Jax landing against the armrest of the couch and Nim being dragged to the floor. Nim had already obtained several new bruises by the time that Father noticed Jax was fighting against him, trying to save Nim. Father punched him to the ground and screamed threats at them both. Among the colorful list was one that truly got their hearts hammering: If Jax told anyone, reported anything to the cops, breathed a single word about this situation to anyone, even looked at each other again... He said that he would kill them both, and Jax’s family would suffer as well. [/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]It took several more minutes of screaming violence and a pleading look from his lover that Jax finally fled the scene, only leaving because Nim told him to do as his Father said. However, without Jax around, he was alone with the violent man… and nothing was held back. Nim has erased most of the memories of that night following Jax’s leave, but what he did remember was the fear, the noise, the smells, and most of all, the incredible pain. He remembered the disgust that consumed him when everything was said and done, and remembered feeling unbearably dirty for weeks on end. No matter what he did, no matter how long he spent scrubbing his skin raw or soaking in a scorching shower, nothing helped.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]However, while it hurt, nothing compared to the Monday that followed that night. Jax wouldn’t even look at Nim, and while he knew it was for their own good, Nim couldn’t help but feel betrayed. Then again, he remembered reconsidering, it was he himself who told Jax to leave. Still, Jax’s leave was the worst pain Nim had and has ever felt in his life, and it is one that was never dulled with time - only buried.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]The attacks occurred two more times after the initial. Both were the result of heavy alcohol consumption and unreasonable on Nim’s father’s part. Nim has forgotten what exactly set him off and prefers not to think about the instances at all if he can help it.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]After that day, Nim vowed after that never to allow another friend into his home, never to endanger another person with his problems and never to tell his secrets again. He did not, however, vow never to love. He was too weak to make that promise, and deep down, he was selfish. He wanted to be loved so, so, so badly, and the new losses only made him long for it even more.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]After he pushed Jax out of his life completely, Nim was left with nothing. With no one left to lean on as his life spiraled out of control, he threw himself frantically into his studies. Every waking moment of his life was spent immersed in his academics or video games, and due to his overindulgence in school work - he took on summer classes too - Nim soon found himself skipping sophomore year and heading straight into junior.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Jax no longer was even a ghost of a presence in Nim’s life with the grade jump, the two not even having class together. With the ex-lover nothing but a painfully pleasant memory, Nim’s obsession with school only worsened. He completed necessary graduation requirements in the summer of his senior year and began his 1st year of college in place of his senior year. This means that at the age of 15, rather than beginning his Sophomore year of high school, he was instead beginning his Freshman year of college.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Even with his continuous skipping of grades, Nim’s grades did not lower. They stayed consistent, nearly perfect, no matter how quickly he accelerated of the difficulty of the classes he took. His teachers were impressed, of course, but deeply worried as well. Nim’s good grades were not relieving, but troubling. He was becoming increasingly anti-social and reserved, and many were beginning to notice how shelves just didn’t make such large bruises on a growing teen.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]In an effort to help him,one of the Academy counsellors approached Nim at a teacher’s alert. She wasn’t blind; she knew something was very wrong. However, when questioned, Nim was tightlipped. Nothing she said could get him to speak - nothing - and so she changed her tactics. If Nim wouldn’t admit something was wrong at home, perhaps he would just move into the school. He refused indisputably, but through a series of visits she eventually convinced Nim to do more than just study. It took time, though. Nim was stubborn and terribly resistent to help, nearly refusing to see her at all. It was only after a month of almost daily ‘nagging’ that Nim finally relented a little.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]There was a notable change in Nim’s behavior when he finally let up a bit. He seemed more relaxed, smiled a little more, and appeared to be somewhat better rested. Of course, he was still awfully secretive and reserved, but it wasn’t so extreme. Nim’s grades never dropped throughout his relaxation, but his incredible acceleration slowed. He began moving at a relatively average pace, and though his teachers still worried, they were glad he was doing better at least.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Life seemed to just continue on from there, for Nim. He soon finished his first college year and, for the first time in forever, he didn’t sign up for summer classes - or, at least, not many. Though he still had a few, he spent that summer quietly relaxing. Nim often spent time in peaceful settings outside his home, such as in parks or near the lake, or wasted the days in his video games. Rarely did he actually socialize, but that was okay. He might not have been swimming yet, but he had learned how to float at least a little. Nim supposed that was all he needed to get by for a while.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
- [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break><break>[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<details><summary>EXTRAS:</summary>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Nim uses his video games as his means of escape. When life gets too hard (or whenever the opportunity presents itself, really) he often just shuts it out, preferring instead to indulge in a fake one.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]<break><break>[/BCOLOR]
[/BCOLOR]
