It was night when Elliot arrived at the school, and he sighed as climbed the climbed the staircase to the dormitories...when he realized he had taken the wrong stairs!
"oh well, while i'm here, i might as well have some fun...i forgot to feed before arriving..." he smirked, and ran up the stairs and looked for a room that seemed to be empty...and waited for a beautiful girl to unsuspectingly walk in, and keep him alive for at least another week.

Aiyanna Mortan wondered through the halls in a clear state of confusion. None of the places social services ever sent her had been this confusing. Sure, some of the places had been very big, but this place was ridiculous!

Why humans have to make such big nests?

Apparently her crow familiar, Hisako, thought the same.

Because humans like big things

She sighed, which room was hers? There was no one around to ask. Deciding to start with the door nearest to the stairs, she walked toward it thinking that she hoped this wasn't the one. After all, the last room she had near the stairs didn't work out so well.

((Ha! Bet you weren't expecting that :P))

When He saw the girl enter, he laughed to himself, to quiet for anybody else to hear...but then, he saw the crow, and realized this was no ordinary human. He worked his "vampire magic" and ran faster than (he hoped) her eyes could follow, and shut the door behind her, and stood behind her.

"WeeeeEEEelll," he said, "I thought that if i waited long enough, some pretty young thing would come and...sustain me...but tell me darling. You're not human, are you? My my, this does put me at a loss. No food, and a wasted precious night time. Ah well, it helped me center myself for the day that is to come...don't worry, i don't blame you...yet. But if you could be so inclined as to answer my questions, that would make me so much happier."

How Aiyanna managed to stay calm, she had no idea. But then again, she wasn't like other ten year olds.

He no human!

How can you tell?

He don't smell human

Aiyanna swallowed hard. "Yes. I am human." She said slowly, she sensed her crows flying towards her as fast as their wings could carry them, "I don't understand why you said 'questions' when you only asked the one." She heard them, her heart soared with them as the gathered right outside the window, their loud voices filling the room. Hisako flapped her own wings in response to the others.

Let us peck his eyes out Aiyanna!

"Who are you?" Aiyanna asked. Despite her fear, she was very curious. She turned slowly to look up (way up, she wished she wasn't so undersized) at his face. Her first thought was that he wasn't human, Hisako had been right about that. It was something in his face.

"My name...Fair's Fair. Elliot Hastings, at your service," He said with a bow, "Forgive me i was...distracted(i was kicked off the computer). Those crows, why are they gathering at the window? Do you talk to them? In my 150 odd years, i've never seen anything like this.

150?!

There was no way he could be that old! He looked no older then twenty. But Aiyanna had learned that you encountered all sorts of people here at Starlight Academy.

"They're my crows, they look after me when I'm in trouble. They hurt people who hurt me." She wondered if she should mention those deaths, but decided that he didn't need to know that. He didn't need to know that she was glad for those deaths, that she almost relished it. Aiyanna could rely on her crows a lot more then she could rely on people.

"I talk to them, they talk to me. I think they can read my mind too, they always know where I am." This was a lot of dialogue for her, she didn't ordinarly talk this much.

Peck out his eyes!

His brains! How dare he threaten us!

That's interesting, very interesting. Something for me to ponder on. How long have you had them?
Can they read my mind?
how long have you been here?
Are there more people like you here?...i'd think very hard on this one...I need to feed somehow, and I don't think I'd like to hurt people like you, they interest me too much...a puzzle to be solved.

Aiyanna's head whirled as all the questions pelted her. Who was she to answer any of them? He did say he didn't want to kill her (!!!) But Aiyanna was had a pretty good idea on how grown up minds work.

"I've had Hisako since I was five." She said slowly, "I don't know if they can read your mind or not, they've never said anything about reading anyone elses mind." She paused, wondering if she had said enough, but decided to continue. Very few people had any interest in her whatsoever. "I just got her at Starlight Academy a few hours ago, the social workers put me here because I don't do well anywhere else. And for your last question... I don't know, I haven't met any body yet. Your the first." She bit her lip anxiously, before boldly asking her own questions.

"What are you? Why are you in this room, this is the girls dorm. And what are you doing in Starlight Academy?"

((If you've read my character bio, you'll find that our characters are strangely compatable :D))

I? why dear child, I am a Vampire. I am here in the girls dorm because i prefer girl's blood to men's blood. It's...how you say...sweeter? it has a better taste. Being 150 years old, it would seem odd to be here, but my ability to interact with humans is somewhat...remedial. I here to learn how to interact with humans without thinking about following them to their house, waiting until the dead of night, creeping into their room...you get the rest. I'm also here to improve my natural power, before I was turned, oculency (the ability to read/decode/anything written). and you my dear? why are you here?

Well my dear, if you don't know anybody, that puts us in a delicate situation...I don't know if there is anybody else i wouldn't enjoy taking the life from, and nobody knows you, so nobody would know if you were to disappear...

Nobody will know if you were to disappear...

How true was that?

"No one would care." She said glumly, "I bet those social workers would be glad I'm gone." Aiyanna reached and pushed the hair that was covering the three scars on the left side of her face back into position. She didn't cry though. She never cried. Not since that day her mother tried to drown her.

Pulling herself together, she looked up the vampire, her fear gone. "What can I do to make you not take my life Elliot." She wondered if he would note the fact that she used his first name. Someone like him would probably not be pleased with it, but so what? If she was to die anyway, no point on dying like frightened prey.
