"Ohh..." Liliana said, realising that she was assuming things again, assuming the Leila knew what things were. "Vending machines are machines, things where you can put money in and buy sugary food or what people often call junk food like potato chips, cheese flavoured snacks, chocolate bars, candy... things like that," she told Leila, hoping she had made it a bit clearer for her.

"Would you like to go back, or find one? See how they work? Maybe buy something from one?" she suggested.

Suffice to say, Leila felt a bit bad as it seemed that her lack of understanding was not only cause trouble for her guide, but was eating away time from her already busy schedule. Still, she took the time to explain everything and Leila listened. "I see... candy..." She mumbled, quite surprised. Candy was something not that easy to get in the world she came from.

"Ah... no, there is no need! I wouldn't want to take away any more of your time than is necessary." The silver haired girl laughed awkwardly as she dismissed the thought of going to a nearby vending machine and trying it out. "I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out on my own. This will world's technology is just more advanced than the one in the world I come from. For now, it would be just very useful to know where everything is in this school."

"Are you sure?" Liliana asked her somewhat concerned, hoping that she didn't think she was being a bother. "Cause I really don't mind," she told Leila. The idea that Liliana was not doing her job properly weighed heavily on her mind.

"The technology on the island is certainly different to a lot of places," she agreed. "It's even somewhat different to where I am from and I am from here, but from the Narrow Reality part," she explained to her, although not 100% sure she knew too much about the reality beyond the island.

"Where I am from, there isn't magic like there is here... and there are almost no non-humans living openly with humans. It's a very closeminded society in a way." she said shaking her head and sighing.

"Yes. I might not look like it because all this technology is new to me and all, but I usually can figure things out pretty quickly on my own!" A little ability she had that she was rather proud of. "But if we see another one on our way, then maybe we can stop at it for a moment." She then added, hoping that her guide would not feel too bad. It was faint, but she could see a slight disappointment.

Then came another, somewhat new term. It was actually one of the first new things Leila had heard when she came here and people from this place found her. "Narrow reality... they said it a few times and were rather glad people from there did not find me first. So I guess it's kinda like a nation that against magic? The world I am from has places like that."

Even nations that followed the witch hunter logic and were actively banishing or even slaughtering those who showed the ability to manipulate magical particles to their will. "It's little hard to imagine living in such a place, to be perfectly honest..." The girl then admitted as she scratched the back of her head and smiled, albeit rather sadly. Magic was a wonderful thing, after all. Or at least it was as far as she was concerned.

"Not really against magic," Liliana said kindly as she gestured Leila to walk with her, "It's a world where very few believe in magic. It's not like they would persecute or harm a magic user, not anymore at least," she admitted. Remembering that yes, in the past of the Narrow Reality's humanity, they had actively sought out and killed magic users.

"It's a world where technology rules and science is king. Although people are still somewhat superstitious and fear the unknown," she explained, "What's changed is now people aren't allowed to kill others because they fear them. Now there are laws against that."

With the gesture, Leiladid Wall with the other girl indeed. But she quickly grew confused. "Then... why not show magic to everyone? If they won't harm anyone for it, then technology and magic could Worle together. They do in the world l am from." She Was not lying at all either. Her world had many things, including engines powered by the magic particles.

"On this island everyone seems to live in Some Sort Of harmony with One another. Can that hot extend past this mass of land?" Perhaps she Was getting into Something far too philosophical for the two Of them. After all, they Were both just simple student Of this rather interesting academy. It would be only expected for them to not have an answer.

"That is a good question, and the answer is probably somewhere between fear of the different, religion and envy and distrust. It's a world out there of equality... in the sense nobody is stronger or better in a way. And having magic would tip that balance, I'm afraid. The non-magical would probably think the magical want to subjugate them or something," she said relying on memories of the past, ones her previous psychopomps had and that were now hers.

"I see..." Leila simply replied to all of that. Her mind was wandering. How was the world outside of this island? She didn't really know, to be perfectly honest. But if it was at all like the world she was born in, then there were kingdoms or nations with certain hierarchies. In such communities, there were always individuals that were above the rest, or below most.

"Well, I suppose there might not be much meaning in thinking about all of that unless we plan to live out there. Though I was forbidden from leaving the island for the time being, haha." She laughed awkwardly at her own comment and then looked back at her guide. "So much for talking about vending machines, huh?"
