James' fists struck the punching bag again and again. It was his normal routine, finish class, come here and train. His hands were wrapped in the white bandages common for this.

Physically he was pretty impressive, though most wouldn't have noticed because of the loose clothing he normally wore. Currently he wore a thing sleeveless shirt, showing the toned muscles he'd built up. People would be surprised he didn't sign up for sports, truth is he couldn't because of the nerve damage in his left hand.

He stopped, sweat beading on his forehead, he'd been at this for hours, both for training and as an distraction. Things had been odd, he'd made peace with the Shadow, who was currently sleeping oddly enough, but it felt like Klef, the girl he cared about was pushing him away.

Sighing, he started unwrapping his hands, revealing his badly bruised knuckles, they'd come from his recent fight with some bullies, one that he'd won.

Matty had only just finished her first look around the school, she hadn't officially started classes yet as she was only new and they wanted her to get acquainted with the school first. But the school day had been over and she was allowed to go around the school on her own, without the need of someone showing her around as she felt that she had a brief idea of the layout now. They knew she was a sporty type and suggested looking at the gym the school had, and Matty thought that was a good idea so she went there.

She'd changed out of her school clothes and into something a little more comfortable in the way of a pair of loose running shorts and a singlet, she'd found a place to put her bag and opened to have Mugsie jump out and onto her shoulder. He was glad to be out, having to hide in there always annoyed the bushy little squirrel. She looked around and saw the place was relatively empty except a boy near a boxing bag.

She thought she should say hello, as it was rude to appear without saying anything at least that's what she was taught. She started walking over there and spotted him unraveling the tape on his hands to show bruises, she stopped for a second "Ah hello...Oh are you alright" she asked a little concerned for the teen. Maybe he'd been here a while or something. "You should be more careful with damaged hands, anyway sorry to interrupt. I'm Matty and this here is Mugsie" she said with a smile and pointing to Mugsie who waved at the boy.

He loomed over, his sharp gray eyes seeing a girl and what looked like a squirrel. "Oh....hello," he looked down at his hands as he finished unwrapping them, "I'm ok." James gave the girl a slightly shy smile, "I'm James, and don't worry I was just finishing."

Tossing the bandages onto his bag he rubbed his knuckles, "it's good to meet you both," he was assuming the squirrel was sentient considering he was waving. He opened and closed his hand as the usual numbness shot through it, "are you two new?" he asked curiously, still smiling shyly.

It seemed the boxing boys' name was James, and he seemed to be quite well mannered from what little she could tell. "Pleasure to meet you" expressed Matty with a smile "Ditto" said Mugsie, as he stood there on Matty's shoulder. The squirrel knew not everyone picked up on him, if he only said something small so he was slightly testing the guys observation skill.

James asked if they were new, Mugsie wasn't technically a student but he was keen on the idea if he was allowed. "Yeah, we only got here recently. I haven't officially started classes yet, I think that'll be tomorrow. But the place seems nice so far" added Matty, having been surprised how nice the place looked compared to her old school and loads bigger as well.

He continued to rub his sore, injured hands, "pleasure is mine," his smile continued to be shy, but it was also very kind. Pulling a rag from his bag, he whipping sweat from his face before it reached the steal healing cut across his chin.

"Welcome to Manta Carlos," he said, his smile brightening a bit, "and yea the school is great," he had never gone to school before, so couldn't really compare it to any others. "I arrived back in September, you're gonna see some amazing things," he looked between the two, "I....could show you around a bit if you want."

"Is...that a rat?" the Shadow asked, finally waking up from his nap, the entity seemed to look at the two, "why do you always talk to the weirdos?" James mentally sighed, happy only he could hear it.
