These few days had probably been pretty rough for anyone close to Ava. Ever since she lost more than she won in the volleyball tournament she had been pissed and irritated, annoyed at her own failings. Ava was a horrendously sore loser, and it was clear for all to see. And what better outlet for her frustrations than training, training and then training some more. And Ava could go all out against Titus and not worry about hurting him badly, he could probably easily handle Ava's current strength.

After her classes were over Ava headed straight towards the gymnasium meant for power classes, knowing Titus was hanging back and waiting for her. They did this once in a while, trained at the academy. It was handier since Titus worked there and Ava kinda had to go there, being a student and all. That just meant Ava had a very easy access to some high-quality sparring so she wasn't complaining. Well, not a lot, at least.

Ava threw the doors to the gymnasium open, so hard they almost hit the wall, and tossed her bag over to the wall, where it wouldn't be too badly on the way. And as soon as she spotted Titus Ava would begin to speak.
"Okay, let's do this, I don't got all afternoon. Orsick will probably forget to take Sauron out anyway so I gotta go home fast."
Ava said and was already stretching. It was clear to see that she wasn't in the best mood yet again.

Titus had been waiting for Ava to show up. She seemed like she had some steam she needed to blow off, and what better way to do it than in a sparring match. This was something he did fairly regularly with both of his kids. They were his kids even if he wasn't actually their father. He'd make sure they made something decent out of themselves. Ava had been grumbling about the volleyball tournament she lost.

This would be a lesson on accepting losses with dignity. There was no way she wouldn't come at him off her center, emotional opponents were just easier to manage.

"Eh just texted him, you've got plenty of time to try and beat my old ass into the ground," he smirked. She was so energetic and aggressive. He used to be young like that. "So what craziness are you coming at me with today?"

Titus was just what the doctor ordered right now, when it came to further irritating Ava. But then again further irritating Ava right now wasn't hard. Just Titus smirking did the trick. Ava huffed and some hot air came out of her nostrils.
"You can bet your old ass I'm going to go straight up mental on you."
Ava half growled, she was too emotional for even sarcasm or witty banter. She just wanted to hit something and Titus was right there. So Ava just jumped right into it, literally.

Ava partially shifted her wings, arms and legs and using her wings and her recently increased dragon strength as a boost Ava basically launched herself at Titus at a high speed. She knew the heat from her magma wouldn't harm Titus, so she didn't hold back. Ava created a kind of boxing gloves made of magma around her hands, and let the magma be as hot as it could be as she aimed her fist towards Titus' jaw. Behind her back Ava was already shifting her tail, she had been practicing her partial shifting like crazy and would try and use it as much as possible.

Well, she sure was in a mood today. Partial shifting and coming in hot, literally, Titus sighed and partially shifted himself. The only thing was, he only sprouted his tail in at its full size, swatting her away as she fcame in. Then just to add insult to injury he loosed a small explosion on her.

"There's two kinds of aggression, the good well thought out kind, and this. Take a breath, and actually think about what you're trying to do," Titus sighed and exhaled a cloud of smoke as he said this. She wasn't even responding to his banter properly. He thought he'd trained her better than this.

Had Ava been in a more calm frame of mind she would've seen the tail coming, maybe grabbed it and used it as leverage to in turn hit Titus with her own tail or kick him. But no, she was seeing red, and was swatted away with an explosion. The explosion didn't do a lot of damage, and Ava landed on her feet in crouching position. She growled and stood up
"I'm trying to kick your ass, wasn't that clear?"
Ava said with an irritated tone, and really just wanted to launch herself at Titus again. But she knew that like that she would never get a satisfying hit in. Titus was, infuriatingly, right. So Ava took a breath, a rebellious one if that was even possible, and thought. The conclusion she came in was an uncertain one, but it would allow Ava to test a new ability she had recently discovered and one that Titus didn't know about yet. Ava had purposefully kept it a secret.

"You can shove well thought in your pipe, old man."
Ava growled, still pretending to be pissed. Well, she was pissed, but now she had a plan. But it wasn't hard to act like she was still the bad kind of aggressive. Ava launched herself at Titus again, this time from above by using her wings. She created two whips made from magma, and tried to use those to lash at Titus as she approached him, this time not giving any signs of what she was going to do. The whips made some magma splatter here and there, and as Ava got closer she pulled the whips in and rolled in the air, attempting to kick Titus to the side of his head.

Ava was certainly brimming with piss and vinegar today. He sort of sighed at her responses of course she was gonna kick his ass, and of course he could take his words and shove it. She was making decent use of the partial shifting, he'd give her that. Lava whips were a nice touch too. Titus kind of avoided them, noting the splatter they were leaving. Titus had spent the greater portion of his life in combat situations way more dire than this. She was playing at something. He wasn't sure what yet, but he'd handle whatever it was as it came.

He caught Ava's leg, and once again threw her across the gym. He didn't immediately rush the teen though. He wanted to see what she was up to, kids always had clever tricks up their sleeves. Even if they didn't work, they were still fun to deal with. "Well, you'd better start working quick, it's almost time for me to start with the fireworks," Titus grinned. There was a decent amount of smoke flowing from his hands. Anyone who knew him knew this meant the explosions were about to start.

Ava left the splatter as it was, in fact she had done some micromanaging and had cooled the very ends of her whips right before they splattered off so it would take less time for them to harden once on the ground. Even now Ava saw some of the splatter starting to become lava rock.

Ava had expected that Titus would grab her leg, and that's why she twisted her body right before he flung her off and aimed her tail towards the other side of his head. Whether Ava got a hit in like that or not she was thrown, but it didn't do much damage. Ava spread her wings and was able to slow down in the air and fly in place, glaring at Titus. Fuck, that annoying smoke was already everywhere. Ava hated this power of Titus', even if the fire itself from the explosions didn't hurt her the impact did some damage.
"Talk about a one trick pony..."
Ava muttered angrily, still flying in place in the air. She did have a plan for the smoke, but she needed to get close for it to work. Ava decided to just try and speed her way close to Titus, and she began by yet again launching towards Titus. But a meter or so away from Titus Ava touched her feet to the floor, dug her claws into it and used the firm footing to do a very quick dodge to the side. From there Ava did a quick turn and within a second was behind Titus. In her partially shifted form Ava should've been a tad faster than Titus, so she was confident she would get behind him.

Once Ava would be behind Titus, or at least close, she'd try and knock him down or at least sway his balance by swiping at his feet with both her leg and tail.

Once again Ava was coming at him. This time from behind, probably gonna try to, yep a leg sweep. It was enough to force him to move from his spot. That said unlike Ava, Titus was used to fighting in generally miserable conditions, the kind that his abilities generally caused. The smoke making things hard for most people to breathe, the limited visibility, that smell of burning that could overwhelm a less seasoned fighter.

It was time for the fireworks to start.

He turned on a dime, releasing more smoke as he did and... he detonated. He detonated everywhere there was smoke. "So you gonna actually try fighting now?" he called out after things had settled a bit.

Titus detonated his smoke right after Ava did her leg sweep. She hadn't actually believed she'd be able to swipe Titus off his feet, but hey, miracles happened, right?
Anyway, before Titus detonated his smoke Ava jumped back to a place where she knew there was ton of cooled down lava around. That meant volcanic rock. Within a moment she collected as much as she could see from around her and made it into a protective shell around her. She mixed in some magma as well, but mostly to cover small cracks and areas. Ava squeezed the rock as hard as she could and then the smoke went off.

Thanks to her protective shell, inside of which was smoke free, Ava didn't suffer from the worst of the explosions. Rather, she was mostly without a scratch. Her protective shell was gone, scattered around the gym, aside from one boulder about the size of Ava's fist. She combined that boulder with magma, and before the dust could settle Ava as soundlessly as possible changed her position and launched the mini meteorite at Titus, aiming at his lower stomach. Ava put all her strength behind the throw, and right after she threw it Ava sprouted her wings, flew up and behind Titus, her intent to kick him on his upper back.
