New Arrival

Maddie laughed, not at him, but because it seemed anytime she met anyone she went out to eat with them.

"S-Sure," she said after just barely getting a hold of herself. "S-Sorry, I'm not laughing at you. I'm not."

She breathed in and calmed herself down.

"Do you like sushi? I haven't had it in awhile. I think there is a sushi place in town, and that way you'll know how to get to the city."

Maddie took point, but she made sure to glance over her shoulder to ensure he was still her. The city was approximately anywhere from fifteen to thirty minutes, depending on how quickly they walked.

Maddie was used to Manta Carlos by now, she had been here quite a bit, specifically to stake out places to eat. She knew there was a sushi bar right on the edge of the beach though she had never eaten at it. No time like the present.

As she opened the door tot he restaurant she told him, "don't worry, I'll pay."

"Yeah, it's fine! I haven't had to use much since I got here anyway; it'd be nice to pay for someone else's meal."

Maddie got them a far table. The building was done in deep redwood, and the chairs were high stools. High enough that Maddie's feet didn't touch the ground when she climbed in one.

A waiter came and gave them two well-kept menus. Maddie seemed to know well enough what she would.

"I love sushi," she told Noah by way of conversation as her eyes scanned the menu."

"Nigiri, please!"

The waiter jotted down their orders and took their menus.

"I'll be out shortly," he said before dismissing himself.

He had brought them each their drinks already, so Maddie sipped her lemon tea idly as she looked at the glass door.

"Sushi is so good. It shouldn't be as good as it is," Maddie said. "Hey! Have you ever tried peanut butter noodles? So good!"

Maddie blinked as if having not realized this. She looked in the direction of the waiter.

"Maybe that's his power? Like, knowing things about people?"
