Never Enough Dakka

It was a damp, overcast day on the streets of the city, the rain earlier in the morning had made everything glisten against the light of the neon signs and commercial screens. The sign to the Dakka Department glowed a deep orange on top of the building. The building itself was pretty basic, not a whole lot of details to it, essentially a big block of concrete and brick. The interior of the store was no less Spartan in design, with the flashiest elements being the display case at the counter and the numerous guns lining the walls. Even the guns themselves had an appearance too rough and rugged to have been made by any Earth based company, looking more like a hunk of metal was molded into the general shape of a gun, rather than a collection of carefully manufactured parts.

At the counter stood a tall figure that oddly had a revolver for a head, with riveted teeth located just beneath it. It's skin was grey and wore leather pants with nothing covering its chiseled and muscular frame other than a single belt of bullets that wrapped around it's neck and tapered off into four more on it's back. The figure gave a nod to whoever walked in the door, but otherwise said nothing.

The long black limo soared over the wet ground leaving an audible *sssh* noise in the air as they drove through the downtown area of Monta Carlos. Haru wasn't one for flashy introductions nor did she even want to ride in this limo when she could've simply walked to the shop on foot. However, at the behest of her advisors and staff, she was made to put on a strong show of importance and authority. So, for most of the ride, she gave off an air of professionalism that bordered the exaggerated. When the glow of the neon signs hit her purple eyes her serious demeanor broke and was replaced by her usual close-mouthed smile.

" Looks like we're here boys"

Haru spoke to the other three men in the car, each had a pistol at their waist and their purple eyes were blocked by the black shades on their face that simply reflected the colors of the store lights back at the world. Swinging the door open she stepped out onto the sidewalk, drawing a few stares, and adjusted her suit and tie. Her security detail did the same as they paced slowly behind her and casually strolled past all the prying eyes.

Ding.

The bell on the door chimed as Haru walked into the store immediately taking in how rustic and to the point it was in terms of decoration. Guns lined the wall and Haru couldn't help but be excited. While some of them shared a resemblance to what she had seen in her life, all of them had a unique spin that drew her in. The immediate thing that drew her in, however, was the man at the counter who had a gu......for a head? Haru wasn't as surprised as her detail as she had been told about the owner by her HR department and advisors prior to coming to meet.

Dress shoes clicking and clicking on the floor as she walked forward she greeted the man.

"Hello sir, my name is Haru. A pleasure to meet you."

The bodyguards didn't really do much to threaten Heck, firearms didn't hurt him, if anything they felt pretty good to a Gunzoan like him. Even though it wasn't the same as in his world, he had come to recognize the displays of wealth and power other species displayed. The fancy cars, the flashy clothes, the guards. On his world this wouldn't fly as a display of power, it would have meant they focused on material luxuries, infatuated with useless textiles, and unsure of their own abilities to defend themselves. But at the same time, these other species tended toward misleading tactics, you never knew if it was all a ruse.

But that didn't matter now, all that meant right now was that this was a customer with money to spend.

"HELLO. NICE TO-hm, nice to meet. Sorry for voice. Not used to quieting. Name is Heck. What you need? Looking for protect? Perhaps offend instead?" He said. He started off yelling quite loudly, but thankfully corrected himself down to something not quite as loud, but still nowhere near an indoor voice. He unfolded his arms and set his hands on the counter, leaning in so he could hear Haru better.

Haru smiled at the Gunzoans loud voice as he screeched his voice into the world offending her ears but not really taking her back. From how he spoke she could tell he was an honest salesman, or at least as honest as one could be. She walked closer to the desk, st ill looking at the walls with different forms of firearms before finally coming to a stop at his leant in body.

" I am here to see if your wares are suitable for what I need.....You see-"

Haru waved for her guards to wait outside as she continued to talk. From what she had scanned in the room there was no immediate threat she felt she couldn't handle alone and saw tying them down in here as meaningless.

"While I do like the quality of the weapons my people are geared with now. I am always looking to find the best price and quality for my employees so I thought I would look locally."

She stopped at one of the guns on the wall and looked it over for a few seconds. She could admire the unique spin these all had on them as they seemed to have been thought out in some detail to make it appear so different than what she had seen on earth so far. Gunzoans was all about guns, hence the name, and she thought where else to find a quality weapon than from a person who was a weapon.

"My security firm wouldn't mind forming a contract with your store if we saw that your wares were a decent price and wouldn't drop our effectiveness in the field."

She made a quick turn back to Heck, wearing a close-mouthed smile and her purple eyes popping in the lighting of the store. Behind her, she could hear the limo doors closing as her drivers stepped out also to get some fresh air in the street.

It took a minute for Heck to process all the words Haru was saying. He didn't understand why they used such elongated and round'about words for simple concepts. Must just involve their need to be vague about everything.

"Came to right place. All guns made by brother Krok. Forge's good weapons when not watching sister Dree. Earth guns always look pretty, don't always work. Gun is already art, Gunzoans make guns work. What you look for?"

Haru wanted to giggle at the sweet accent Heck spoke with but instead, she just let it slide and went back to answering his question. It seemed like he liked the direct approach of conversation, not questioning her in the slightest, so this would be easy it seemed.

" I need several variants of full and semi automatic weapons, Munitions to stock our warehouses, and if you have any experimental weapons in development I would like to see them on the off chance we wish to acquire some when they are ready."

That about covered it she thought, at least for now. Haru still had other products to purchase but she didn't believe a shop like this would have what she needed.

Heck turned to a doorway behind him and motioned for Haru.

"Follow, in here." He said. He lead her into a large indoor firing range, the back wall filled with all different kinds of guns. Heck went to one of the booths and grabbed her some ear protection muffs. He then walked to the back wall and picked out a few rifles and handguns.

He brought them all to the booth and began showing off each one. He would fire each weapon twice, showing how to reload each one. He treated them all quite roughly, knocking out each empty magazine before slamming in a new one. Even the way he cocked each gun was done with such force it probably would have seriously damaged a normal Earth gun. Yet each weapon fired without missing a beat, or showed the slightest sign of being under stress.

He offered her a chance to fire any of them she liked. Whatever she picked, she would likely find that the weapons all fired fairly high-caliber earth rounds for their weapon class, yet the recoil was not unbearable, and each element of the gun worked without any severe effort needed. The guns obviously didn't have looks or even comfort high on their list of priorities, but it was nothing a few personal modifications by their owners wouldn't fix.

"Sadly, I don't have prototypes yet. Not enough time, and personal projects to do. But once I get extra help, can put more time to experiments. Brother Krok forges each gun with silencer. I remove when I get them, but you take as many as you need with each gun, no extra money."

Finally, Heck told Haru the price of each gun. To put it simply, it was low, very, VERY low, almost criminally low. Ammo was even cheaper than that, practically chump change.

"Would give them all for free, but city forbids, insists I force payment. Besides, would be nice to buy ingredients for napalm to drink."

Haru followed Heck into his back room and was pleased to see a well-equipped firing range. Hers was outdoors on the islets outside the island but she wasn't averse to an indoor range as long as it wasn't too expensive. Taking the earmuffs thankfully she placed them over her ears and closely watched Heck use the various weapons. Her Decipher power was slowly working behind Heck, eyes glowing a bright gold. She could see the work put into it. The functions and triggers allowing the charming gun to fire anything at all.

The way Heck handles the weapons as well made her more intrigued in their manufacturing process. A gun that could take a beating would be far superior to something that jammed or broke easily, and considering her personnel, this would definitely come in handy on the field. She had already dealt with an employee accidentally denting a pistol in their grip. Indeed a tougher gun would cut her expenses down a bit.

When finally getting a chance to fire it Haru picked up a single fire rifle, bringing up new targets to shoot. She had shot a fair number of guns in her life and was a quick learner when it came to handling a new arm. The rifle surely wants the most comfortable but that could be phased out with proper training and a few modifications. When she found a nice grip on the gun she fired three rounds at three different targets consecutively, landing each in the head or chest. Yep, they worked alright, so far this seemed like a quality weapon...where quality is more function and less appearance. All she needed to know now was the price and how many they could produce throughout a four month period.

Placing the rifle back down she looked at the others. One by one she testing everything available, being through that they all would work for not only her but the people putting their lives on the line for her. Each one felt relatively the same after awhile. The uniqueness of the guns was present in all of them which gave her a sense of normalcy after the first few.

Putting the last gun down she turned to Heck who had started to answer her other requests. If what he was saying was true then she may have just found a goldmine for cost cuts. Maybe she could take this place for herself?......No, not yet at least. She needed more establishment before she branches into the gun market. For now, all they would sell is security, but a good business partner wasn't bad either.

" Well Heck, I must say these surely are fine pieces of equipment and I would love to purchase some. However, now that you've mentioned your lack of personnel to really work on products I must know if you would be up for a loan from our firm. You could use that money to expand a bit and in return pay us back in newer models and a small bit of money over the coming years."

This wouldn't really harm her financially thanks to the prices of the gun now. She would simply be spending the money she was ready to spend initially except that money would now work for her in the long term instead of vanishing.

"Hmmm, perhaps. With more money, could make better deal for workers. Would be able to focus more on projects, could maybe bring brother Krok and sister Dree here too, not be so far away, produce more guns. Sister Dree would like arena, good fights for her."

Heck had been thinking about bringing his siblings here, it had been a while since he saw them, and having the close by would be comforting.

Haru nodded at Heck's words, mostly because it meant little to er and she was just pleased to see the man was mulling over the idea of a loan. She sure did love business. Maybe she should've done this sooner in life and bought the moon or some silly extravagance that most rich people had.

" If it would help you reunite your family I would be more than happy to accommodate all that you need.within reason of course. Seeing a family business grow reminds me of my family farm and haw many generations of kin made it what it is today.......Anyway, if you do want the loan to feel free to drop by our offices."

Haru handed him a business card from her pocket with the address and relevant information for contacting the company. She had to keep a number of these on her at all times just in case she met a possible business client.

" However we will also be getting in contact with you over the coming days."
