Name: Nailah Griffey
Age:16
Birthday:10th of June
Gender:Female
Species: Ifrit (or Ifritah since she's a female) (A type of Djinn. Similar to a demon. From Arabic/Islamic mythology)
Class: High School
Grade: 10th

Appearance Description:
Human appearance:
-Light Tan skin
-Blue eyes
True appearance (Ifrit appearance):
-Red skin
-Sclera of eyes black instead of white.
-Horns on forehead that curve up.
-Bat-like wings.

Traits of both:
-Toned build
-5'11
-Dark hair done in a pony tail usually.
Canine appearance:
-Dark fur
-Appears similar to a pit-bull
Clothing:
-In school she wears the usual female uniform with black legging
-Out of school various casual clothes, usually jeans and t-shirts or tanktops. If it's really cold, a hoody but her heat production usually takes care of keeping warm.

Personality Description:
+-Has a bit of a laid-back attitude.
-Though not on a hair trigger, Nailah can be riled up somewhat easily. How well she manages to keep it in check depends on the situation.
+Loyal to friends and family.
-Tends to be a bit rebellious towards authority figures she doesn't care for or dislikes.
+-Dislikes cowardice.
+-Has a bit of a mischievous side. Likes a good prank and has a habit of getting into places that most people shouldn't be able to (i.e. an area behind a locked door with no other obvious entrances. Deduced by Bell to be due to her ability to change into smoke)
-HATES being mistaken for a demon. Anyone who calls her one has a possibility of getting burned. Or at least chewed out.
-If challenged or provoked, she has a good possibility of getting into a fight, and actually enjoys a good scrap.
-Has....a bit of pyromania.

Powers:
-Fire Manipulation: She can direct and manipulate fire thats present near her using limb movements. She's able to focus some between her hands to form balls of fire to throw. She usually limits this ability to fire made from other sources, rather than her natural ability due to how draining producing her own flames can get.
She had to learn this to keep any accidental blazes under control.
Species Abilities:
+Fire and Heat production and resistance to both
-Producing fire drains her stamina, limiting this ability's use
-Has trouble keeping heat production under control when angry, which may cause problems.
+Strength and Speed above normal humans
+Resilient to most normal weapons and a normal human trying to take her on in melee combat will likely have a bad day.
-Vulnerable to Magic (Anything relating to fire however would most likely end up giving her ammunition to throw back at you however)
-Especially vulnerable to Holy Magic
-The two negatives above included weapons enchanted or blessed.
+Ability to turn into fire, smoke (Fully or partially), or shift into a dog
-Methods of putting normal fires out work on her in the fire state, causing her to revert to her normal self. Being soaked also prevents her from taking this form
-She cannot actually do anything in smoke form except float around...being smoke. She'd have to revert back to actually physically effect anything.
-The fire state drains stamina, more than just producing fire does.
-Morphing to either form is not instantaneous and requires concentration.
+Her wings in her true state allow her to glide and can assist in jumping.
-She can't actually fly with her wings.

Biography:
Nailah is an Ifrit, a type of Djinn, born somewhere in Egypt. It's unknown exactly where she was born though considering the group her parents were part of moved around quited a bit. Her parents were part of a group, or tribe, of nomadic Ifrit who terrorized locals, committing various crimes against them and getting away with their acts due to their supernatural abilities. Their behavior however eventually attracted people who COULD do something about their crimes.

Hearing talk of fires with unknown causes, figures appearing from smoke, and strange packs of dogs,
the group knew they were dealing with someone supernatural.

These Ifrits were eventually tracked down to an encampment and subdued through magical means (after it was found out physical or normal means were not effective), being sent off to a proper facility capable of holding sometime later. Among the Ifrits was a few young ones, not quite old enough to have had their parents behavior ingrained, the group taking them away for possible adoption. One of them was Nailah and she was adopted by one of the people who stopped the Ifrit group.

The one who adopted Nailah was a young woman named Bell Griffey, a Lycanthrope. The shifter proceeded to, after some arrangements, take the toddler back to the U.S. with her, raising Nailah from a little child to nearing adulthood.

Trying to live a normal life among average humans wasn't quite easy for the Ifrit, Bell helping the girl to control her emotions as she had been taught herself. She didn't have to worry so much about the girl turning into a raging beast though, as the girl seemed to get a grasp on her race's natural shifting abilities pretty easily.

No, they had to worry more about Nailah's more, fiery abilities as well as her abnormal strength. It's a bit disconcerting when a small child can punch a piece of a table off you see? Though they were mostly successful, there were incidents that were hard to explain such as something catching fire near Nailah, accusations of smoking when the girl was older (regardless of both her and Bell's denials that the girl smoked and that there was no evidence), and other events.

It didn't help help that Nailah's more detrimental traits popped during her teens. Things really got hard when some other kids got injured, the Ifrit having a habit of not watching her strength and forgetting others around here were not as durable as she was. It all came to a head one day when Bell got a call that Nailah had gotten picked up by the police.

She had been out with a couple kids who were comfortable enough to hang out with her. One of her friends was accosted by another group from the school. According to Naila she warned them to back off but one of them swung and broke her friend's nose. And it had gone all downhill from there.

Nailah had stepped in and knocked the first bully back, causing the rest to jump her. According to the officer who arrested her and the antagonistic group of students, he had drove up in time to see Nailah throw two of the kids off her and slam her fist into a third. The strange thing, he stated, was that the air around her was shimmering like the air over a hot road and several of the bullies had slight burns on their bodies.

Eventually the girl was release, as it seemed to be self defense, though she was questioned how she burned them and got no answer.

Unfortunately one of the bullies' parent was pretty influential at the school. Adding that to some previous incidents, and Nailah was eventually kicked out. While looking for a new school to send the girl to, Bell found out about the Island and the Academy from a friend of hers, a man skilled with magic who had helped the Ifrit to control her fires when she was younger (Mainly to minimize damage).

Having a place where A. Her abilities wouldn't be out of the ordinary, and B. there were people capable of dealing with and helping with said abilities gave Bell all the incentive she needed to get Nailah there.

Additional Information:
-Taught self defense by Bell
-Emotions are somewhat easy to read due to the area heating up around her when angry, upset, or excited.
