Nia listened intently. For the first time she finally felt like she were getting answers that made sense. No, they weren't really answering any of her questions but Makara's words somehow made Nia feel better. Maybe it's was just something about talking to someone who was dead. Though that really didn't seem to bother Nia in the least. She was honestly kind of surprised that she was so okay with it and her body wasn't made anxious by the thought. In fact, she felt the opposite. She felt calmer around Makara and his current words were only helping.

"I don't know much about magic..." Her brain seemed to understand the concept but she didn't have many specifics on the subject. Things felt...strangely blank there.

She was quite a minute, "I just hope they return quickly. I don't like not knowing who I am..."

People tended to panic around ghosts, which Makara could hardly fault them for. In his life, he would have panicked around a spirit just as easily. People didn't often freak out around him in particular though, in large part because he didn't seem like a ghost. He was a far cry from what he'd been when he'd first returned to this bizarre half-life he lived, and he could easily pass as human during the day. There was something much different about being told someone was dead, as opposed to seeing it for themselves.

He nodded, considering for a moment. "You should speak to Wong Ha Jung. They work on the staff, and might be able to help you." Makara was not so knowledgeable that he knew the finger differences between a therapist, a psychologist, and a psychiatrist, but he had a general idea that even if Wong Ha Jung couldn't help directly, they might at least be able to refer Nia to someone who could. "They would probably be able to help you better than I can." With her memories specifically, he meant.

It really didn't bother Nia that Makara was a ghost. He seemed very nice so why should it make a difference anyways? She still did feel a bit anxious around him, though that had decreased significantly since she had met him. Honestly, so far he had been one of least scary people Nia had met.

Nia gave a small nod, thankful for the advice. Though, she wasn't sure at all how to find Wong Ha Jung. She also felt a bit to nervous to ask. She also realized that there were probably other more pertinent things that they needed to talk about anyways.

"So... I live here now. And you're my dorm parent." Nia said as if she had to confirm this information with herself first, "What exactly does that mean? I mean, I understand what regular parents are suppose to do..." Even though she couldn't remember her own family, she did somehow know what one was suppose to be like. It was a strange feeling. Having such a concept for how something was suppose to work but having no real memories of it ever working.

For a moment, Makara thought he was going to have to explain the concept of parents. That was something he really wasn't prepared for. He barely remembered his own parents. How was he supposed to explain that?

Thankfully, she knew what normal parents were supposed to do, and he let out a small sigh of relief.

"Students who grew up on the island, or those whose families came with him have a support structure already in place. They can go to their parents if anything comes up that's not directly school related. Those who live in the dorms don't have that, and for those who are under eighteen, they're assigned a dorm parent. It means if things come up - personal issues, or anything like that - you can come to me." To have someone on her team, in so many words. Everything he'd said was almost word for word what he had been told about being a dorm parent, but it was a good explanation, so he felt no real shame in copying it.

Nia listened and then gave a few small nods, her eyes till on her hands. It made sense and wasn't anything to hard to understand. She wondered what things would come up that would require her needing her dorm parent... Well, guess only time would tell.

She was quite for a moment as she thought through everything they had just talked about. She wanted to make sure she understood what was going on and what living at Starlight was going to be like.

"I... I think I understand everything pretty well now. Except..." She paused for a moment, her finger grabbing tightly to the hem of her dress, "This is a school right? So I mean... I have to go to class and stuff?"

Oh. He hadn't thought she was asking about that at all, but obviously she was. It was something that a dorm parent might be able to help with, but Makara certainly couldn't. He couldn't go through the course book, and there was the lightest dusting of pink on his cheeks as he realized.

"Yes, this is a school first and foremost. I would suggest you go to the administrative office tomorrow, and have them help you pick out classes that would suit you best. I'm not sure where you are with regards to school, or where they'll place you. Possibly you'll get private tutoring while they try and establish what class level they should be in." That was the sort of thing a dorm parent might help with, and he struggled for a moment to come up with something that would make him feel less useless. "I can advise you after the fact, but I don't have any of the tests they'd use to tell what classes you should be in."

Great. Back to administration. Her time there yesterday hadn't been the best and she couldn't say she was terribly excited to be returning. Maybe Anastasia would be there again to talk to. Probably not though.

"When I was at the orphanage they tested me. Apparently I passed to high school. But...some of them thought it was impossible because of my 'age and condition'." She was quite for a moment, her thoughts pulling her away from the room for a moment. As if realizing herself growing to silent, Nia suddenly jumped a bit and then blushed, her voice softer and calmer for a moment.

"I believe they left the matter undecided until I could speak with someone here." She looked up at Makara, "It would be best for me to go get that figured out tomorrow. However, I don't know what I will do with my time until then..."

At the very least Makara could talk about this a bit more. The idea of memory was at least something he had a general idea of. "Well, it just means you knew that stuff before. You might have forgotten your memories of who you are, but you haven't forgotten everything. You can still talk, among other things." But what did it mean that she could pass highschool? Really, it implied she'd already taken highschool courses. But she was so young - maybe she'd been privately tutored? "It's certainly a mystery." Just who was she?

It was a lot of questions, but he could handle at least this one. "You don't really have anything to do today. Maybe take a look around the school, and get used to things here. Then tomorrow you can go to the admissions office and go over your classes. There's no big rush." Plenty of people didn't start classes for a week or more, needing time to get settled in. "I'm usually in my office in the afternoons if you need me."

Nia gave a small nod and then pushed herself onto her feet. She was quite for a moment, her eyes glued on her still bare feet.

"I suppose I shall go for a walk then. I have a map of the school in my room so I shouldn't get lost. I appreciate your help greatly. I will go see administration tomorrow as well. And find out about Wong Ha Jung as well maybe."

With that Nia began to turn to head towards the door. She didn't have any other questions and she didn't want to bother Makara for longer than was necessary. She was sure he had other things to attend to.

He nodded once, standing as she did to show her out. "If you have any questions, you can always stop by." The offer was there again, and would always be there. He would say it forever and ever, to each and every one of his dorm students. But it was true. Makara had no true life outside of the dorm. He had no family, no friends. No loved ones. He lived for the school, and for nothing else. The school would save him. There was no other option.
