Sacre wasn't sure what to say, she suppressed something snarky, she wasn't sure what to do with a neighbor who brought them scones. Most of her neighbors had been assigned or so distant she didn't know who they were. The small apartment was filled with the boxes from the moving, labeled in two wildly different hands. "Put it in the kitchen, uahh.. why don't you come in and share the scones with us." She invited Ivana, scooting back on her long tail, coiling it under her.

Kara set the box on the kitchen table and immediately flipped it open. Valkree weren't very good at storing fat on their bodies, so when they got to work it was imperative to keep snacks around.

Kara quirked an eyebrow at the presence of bee larvae. Normally she would have done as the Romans did, but not today. If she were going to be unpacking, she would have a tasty breakfast.

"Oh, I don't think we really have anything to hang up. Mostly just moving knickknacks onto shelves." Explained the catgirl to Ivana. Half-eaten scone in hand, Kara moved to one of the bigger boxes. She gingerly removed the two miniature dragons from the top and set them on the floor.

"Oh, they don't bite! The green one's Starlight and the blue is Ophion!" Kara called into the kitchen as one of the mini dragons trotted up to Ivana like a puppy. They looked entirely real, the only indication that they were synthetic being their metal claws. Starlight craned his neck to sniff the new arrival and was immediately comfortable in her presence, as if meeting a family member.

"Oh my goodness," Ivana gasped when the very cute little dragons came rambling up to her. "They are simply adorable. They remind me of my brother's little girls," she gushed as she hunkered down to be closer to the Starlight and Ophion.

Ophion followed Starflight, and gave Ivana a look that said 'I'm not asking for getting pets, but I'm here if you want to give them out.' "Yeah, our original universe doesn't have dragons, so an inventor decided to correct the problem by building robots." Sacre explained as she grabbed a scone.

"Ohh.. that makes total sense then," Ivana said as she smiled at Orphion and his cat-like attitude as she turned her attention to the little guy too, alternating her affection between the two robotic dragonettes.

"I take it you are not from Earth?" Ivana asked Sacre politely, though truth be told she was genuinely curious about her neighbours. She loved meeting people from new dimensions and realms.

"From where? Oh, right the universe we're in. We're from the same universe, but two different planets in it. I'm from a heavy world that's covered in jungle and desert mostly. She's a biologically over-engineered killing machine from a vat in the middle of a military base." She hugged Gravity with her tail, "A cute biologically over-engineered killing machine though." Sacre explained as Ophion climbed onto the box laden countertop to be closer to where any pets might be handed out from.

"Oh, I'm the cutest killing machine. It's true." Gravity giggled, though beneath the surface she was buzzing with excitement. Because her new neighbor, if she had heard correctly, was a dragon. But she wouldn't embarrass herself and Sacre just yet.

The dragons they had encountered before reaching the island had not been sentient. They'd basically been giant sky-puppies. Being a lover of animals of all shapes and sizes, Gravity had fallen in love with them. But now that dragons could talk, it had become abundantly clear that they did not like scritches or snoot-boops. Just the other day, a massive, black specimen had landed on the school's practice fields.

Gravity had rushed to it and hugged his snout, before he told her, in an unamused voice, that while he appreciated her display of affection, he was the school's librarian and such a relationship would be inappropriate.

"But yeah, we served on the same ship together. I was the pilot, she was the medical officer. After we got out, we decided to run away together." Gravity continued with a mock swoon. Indeed, on the surface, their story did seem rather romantic.

Then, the bloodied super-soldier, responsible for the deaths of countless others, who had destroyed a few planets and even an entire universe (long story), opened a box and sighed in relief that her scented candles hadn't been broken on the trip over. She pulled out her favorite scent, "Lavender Dreams", and held it up to one of the mini dragons. A small puff of flame later and it was burning on the counter.

"That is truly fascinating," Ivana said as she listened raptly to Sacre and Gravity talk, banter and explain who they were and where they were from. She couldn't help but be impressed by both women for breaking out and finding their way forward.

In fact, it definitely reminded her of herself in a way. She had run away from the confines of a home - where she'd be nothing more than a wife to some aristocratic dragon family her uncle wanted an alliance with - to a world dominated by men, suspicion, and superstition.

"And you've been together ever since then?" she asked as she smiled down at the dragonettes when she felt Ophion lightly nudge her hand for more pets.

"We had been together a bit before we left. It was a rocky courtship, I didn't like to be touched, still don't, and this little bundle of touching everything. I threw more than one person into a wall for it when she came around, so she was warned. She managed to touch my heart before I tossed her into a wall." Sacre explained.

"No wall can withstand the power of love!" Gravity proclaimed, before immediately being distracted by a shiny object in the corner of her eye.

"Aw, there you are, sweetie!" Gravity cooed softly, hunched over another box. From the box she pulled a nondescript metal rod about a meter in length.

"Mama missed you! Yes she did!" Gravity continued to mutter to the rod, cradling it like an infant. Then, her tail perked up, and she looked to Ivana.

"By the way, Ivana? If you find anything with buttons, let Sacre or myself know!" Gravity called over her shoulder. "Some of this stuff is military equipment we stole or bought off the black market before leaving our universe."

Case in point, she pressed a button on the rod, and it extended to a length of just over two meters. A functional quarterstaff. Then, with another button press, a double edged spearhead made of glowing energy sprouted from the end pointing towards the ceiling with a loud crackling sound. The azure-skinned woman aimed the spear as if it were capable of launching projectiles before deactivating it and carrying it to the bedroom.

She came back a second later and began pulling various odds and ends from a small box. A few dolls, as well as an actual paper photo displaying about fifty multi-colored catgirls similar to her, all crowded around an elderly woman in a lab coat.

"Oh, but let's not make this all about us! What do you do here on the island, Ivana? We hear this place is a sort of 'refuge' for supernatural beings and what not? Personally I don't know what the humans are so mad about, living next door to wizards! Speaking as someone who came from a universe with no gods, no magic, and no hope of an afterlife, what do they have to be angry about?" asked the valkree. If it weren't clear already, Kara (or Gravity, as was her callsign in the military) was a bit of a chatterbox. Whereas Sacre was a bit more reserved.
