Music speaks and paper listens

Rayne glances up at the sky as she come out of the school, fixing her messenger bag over her shoulder. Sunny and warm and yet not very windy, just a cool breeze to make sure life isn't too hot. In her book, a almost perfect day. Too bad the homework was piled on today. Her mind wanders to what she has to do while she makes her way through the courtyard, off the path itself and towards a larger tree before sitting down under it and leaning her back against the trunk.

Letting out a sigh, Rayne relaxes from the day today before rolling her neck to release some of the tension. Grabbing her iPod from her bag then placing her headphones over her ears, Rayne scrolls through her music before finding a song she wants to listen too and clicking play. Well more like an album she just added, Thomas Rhett. As the music plays through her headphones, she digs through her bag before pulling out her sketch pad and pencil. Music and paper, a great way to end the day, so long as it isn't homework paper.

Pulling her knees up so they are half way to her chest and she doesn't have to bend over, Rayne places the pad on her lap, opens to the page she was working on earlier and begins her continuation of her drawing while the country music plays in her ears. She isn't really expecting to be disturbed here, not many students want to hang around school after its over.

Kai sighed internally as he trudged along through the courtyard after class. It had been a particularly boring day for him, no friends to hang out with...not that he had any friends to begin with. He was kind of a loner. He'd pretty much spaced out the entire time during class, just wanting to get back to his room and play some more of his new video game.

Not being particularly observant or coordinated, Kai nearly ran over another student who was sitting on the ground under a tree. He tripped and tumbled to the ground.

"Oh, jeez. I'm really sorry," he said, sitting up. "I wasn't watching where I was going."

Normally Rayne would have heard the student coming towards her. The sound of footsteps on grass and fallen leaves and twigs not something people would usually miss, but she has her headphones on, music playing, so she cant really hear anything else but that. Plus, the fact she is engrossed in her drawing doesn't help either, so she wouldn't have noticed him coming until he was on top of her. Like he just was, tripping over her.

Startled, Rayne jerks her pencil across the paper, glad it was a corner and something she can erase and not ruin her drawing, as she looks up at the student who just quite almost, well he did kinda, walk over her before falling. Rayne closes her notepad and puts it on the ground beside before shifting her legs to the side, an easier way to get up if she needs too. Her eyes flash with anger at being almost walked over, but seeing as how the guy fell and he really does seem to be truly sorry and whatnot, the anger flashes away quickly. "It's fine, no harm done. Are you ok though? You did fall over."
