Versailles leaned against the passenger door of Jett's truck, gazing up at the apartment she now shared with Mia. It was a quaint little place, noticeably old, but it was in quite good shape. The door was some kind of heavy wood, as was most of the furniture that came with it. The kitchen was decent and all of the wiring still worked. It needed a bit of fresh paint in places, but it was all together a decent apartment, and it was near the business area of town too.

The fox-girl tested the lock to see if Mia had arrived yet. The door was still locked so she assumed that her roommate had yet to arrive, and unlocked the door herself. It was likely a good thing considering how much she liked Jett. Versailles returned to the truck and started to unload boxes, bringing them directly up into the apartment.

Versa didn't have a lot of things; that was what Jett thought anyway. Coming from him, that was saying something. When he'd moved his entire life to Manta Carlos, all he had brought with him was one trunk of items. He turned the truck off and jumped out of the driver's seat to help Versa move boxes into the apartment. For the most part, Jett was quiet. He was tired and thinking about things. No jolly games this time.

The Skinwalker investigated the apartment as they strolled through it. It was old, but it would do. It needed a coat of paint -- which he would not help with, thank you. "So this it? Or do we need to do another trip I don't know about?" He was antsy to leave. Jett had somewhere to be.

Mia arrived a while after Versa had made it to the apartment, having to take public transportation and a short walk to reach the building. Having never really stayed in one place for long her entire life, Mia did not have much to her name. A backpack and a rolling bag was all she needed for her few possessions. She had never even owned a single piece of furniture in her life…huh. She would actually have to think about stuff like that now, wouldn’t she? She intended to stay on the island after all. It was time to let the wanderlust go.

Mia wasn’t initially too thrilled with the apartment—it was an older building and really in need of some upkeep. But, well, it’s not like Mia had a stable, high paying job where she could live in some high-rise studio apartment. So, she really couldn’t be too picky now.

She headed up the stairs toward their new apartment, giving the door a quick knock before checking the knob. She had assumed Versa would probably get there first.

“Helloooo~” Mia called out into the apartment as she stepped inside, pulling her luggage behind her. There was Versa, and there was…someone else. No. No no no no no no.

“Versa—why is he here?” Mia growled, her eyes narrowed as she grabbed the handle of her luggage tightly. Then she realized smoke was starting to drift from that hand and she let go before she melted the handle right off.

"No, this is it. I don't have a lot other than clothes and school stuff, and I got them to fit in these boxes. You can-"

Versailles was interrupted by Mia's entrance. She was rather shocked by the violent reaction to Jett's presence, and as soon as Mia dropped her suitcase, the fox-girl started pushing him towards the door. Her ears had folded back over her head and her tail more closely resembled a bottle brush. The smell of burnt plastic was more than enough to terrify her without hearing the tone of her new roommate's voice.

"Jett was helping me bring my stuff down here from the school. As you can see from the boxes. He was just about to leave. We did get everything out of your truck right?"

"Mhm," Jett said. At first, he didn't budge, irritated that he was being pushed out, but the Skinwalker wasn't interested in staying long and chatting, either. Out the door! "Right, well you two have fun screwing around and living in...." he glanced at the door frame, "this. Your only solace is that ain't no one gonna wanna rob this place."

He turned and sauntered back to his truck, in absolutely no hurry whatsoever. Like he was afraid of being scorched, pu-lease.

Good,” was Mia’s harsh reply when Versa said he was just about to leave and started ‘encouraging’ him toward the door.

Mia let out a sigh of relief once he was out the door. The heat from her hand began to subside as her anger did, and she picked up her bag once more. While Versa was shoving the object of her discontent out the door, Mia peered into the nearby rooms—one with some of Versa’s stuff in it, and the other empty. Well, obviously that had to be hers, so she tossed the bag inside along with her backpack.

When Versa came back, Mia raised an eyebrow at her.

“Are you seriously still associating with that guy? After what he did?”

Versailles closed the door behind Jett, leaning back against the heavy wood with a sigh. That... Had not gone as well as she'd hoped. The fox-girl slowly walked back to the main room, unsure if she would be needing to diffuse a bomb.

"Jett is an acquaintance. It's not like we're close. He's been teaching me how to use a knife. The guy isn't all that bad, not when he's teaching at least."

Versailles didn't mention how he'd found her number on his own. She also didn't mention that he'd kissed her, or that she'd sobbed on his shoulder during one of the mentioned lessons. There was a lot Versailles didn't mention, but she didn't give Mia any notion that there was anything else to say.

"He was the only person I knew with a car and I didn't want to bring all of my boxes on the bus. I doubt you'll see him here agian."
