<div align=center>The warmth of the late April was pleasant, it felt good on Murtagh's fur and his sister was happy. Sylvi's wardrobe had been limited, it'd been arranged for her to be given a new selection of clothes, and today she'd picked out a plain little dress that reached just past her knees. Though the hem of it was already muddy. The large wolf yawned softly, great maw parting to reveal a set of large teeth. Sylvi sat next to him on the bank, legs crossed, staring across the lake at the large school on the other side. It wasn't all that bad there, not really. The people there weren't like everyone else.

You look pretty, little one. The wolf stated lazily, large, amber eyes flickering over to look at her. Sylvi turned her head to look at him and frowned, "I don't want to be pretty. I want to be able to run and climb without being worried I'm going to tear it or get it dirty." She turned away from the creature and folded her arms huffily. Murtagh seemed amused for a moment, before pushing himself to his great legs and padding a short ways down the bank to get a drink of water.

Sylvi glanced over as he lapped at the surface of the water, he wasn't allowed any closer than this, she couldn't understand why at all. He was a hostile creature to those that bothered him, though unfortunately he was bothered rather quickly. Sylvi thought perhaps she should at least make the effort to be nice to someone... So far it had not gone that way, she'd been... Violent to say the least. No one had been hurt, luckily, apart from a few teachers who'd ended up getting a little too close to her teeth. </div>

The days had been getting longer, and with the change in temperature, Annaleise had been getting restless. She had been stuffed into classrooms, told what she could and could not do, and had been scolded for trying to set fire to the offending teachers. In all, it had been mostly a bad day for her, and she wanted to explore more. Thus far, she had not found any other children her age, but that didn't exactly stop her from trying. With a freshly pressed dress trimmed in lace, Annaleise knew her mother would be proud of her child's fashion sense. Though she often ripped and tore her clothes, she definitely knew how to dress herself.

Trotting down to the lake that she had heard the elder children whispering about, Annaleise stood on a small hill, hands on hips and wondering what was so great about a giant crater filled with water. Surveying the land, Anna spied a very large dog, and was immediately attracted to it. She rather liked dogs, and the bigger the better. Gathering bunches of the soft material that made up her skirts, Annaleise scurried down the hill and closer to the dog, her tunnel vision widening to include another human. Stopping at once, Annaleise thought that perhaps the dog belonged to the person, and her path changed, leading straight to this curious looking adult. Her cheeks flushed a faint red as she grew nervous, and she tucked her hands behind her back, her face upturned in what she hoped was an endearing expression. "You have a pretty dog."

<div align=center>Sylvi was almost taken by surprise as someone approached, it was seldom people wanted to approach her, though Murtagh was to blame for that. The great wolf lifted his head at the sound of someone else, ears pricking forward. Sylvi's head whipped around suddenly, and in her hurry to stand up she near enough almost fell in the lake. Though... When she saw who it was, she relaxed. It was a little girl, no older than ten perhaps. Contrary to the usual reactions from people, this girl was more or less... Fearless. Sylvi blinked at the girl, you have a pretty dog. She glanced over to the wolf, who merely tilted his head at Anna.

Who are you calling a dog, little one? He asked, a low growl rumbling from the back of his throat. Though the animal wagged his tail ever so slightly, a friendly notion, apparently he'd appreciated the compliment. Annaleise was a child, and Murtagh was not such a nasty creature to frighten a child. Sylvi paused for a moment before approaching, leveling with Murtagh and staring at the girl. She looked like an urchin compared to Annaleise, she almost felt a little bit embarrassed about it.

"Oh... He isn't my pet." Murtagh refused to be thought of as a pet, and Sylvi too, refused to think of him that way. Though explaining to someone that a wolf the size of a horse was your brother was difficult from time to time... "He's more like... A big brother?"

Jumping at a voice, Anna's gaze shifted between the girl and her wolf, trying to work out whether or not her dog spoke. Annaleise wasn't entirely sure what else to call the creature, if it wasn't a dog. He certainly didn't look like a cat. She faltered for a moment, a little intimidated by the growl, but quickly snapping out of it when his tail wagged a little. She wanted to play with him, but pouncing on such a giant creature would probably end up with her injured.

Anna's forehead scrunched up considerably, trying to puzzle out how a wolf could be a brother. She had pets be her best friend before, but not a sibling. Her eyes growing wide with hope, Annaleise crept closer to Murtagh, shivering as she inspected him from the small distance. "Oh... Can I touch your big brother?" The wolf looked like he had soft fur, and she realised a bit late that he could also speak for himself. "Oh, um, I-- can I touch your fur?" Directing her second question at Murtagh, her small fingers clenched into a fist, wanting very much to touch the do--wolf. She had always had an issue with meeting dogs, and always wanting to immediately pet them.

<div align=center>Murtagh lowered his head a little when the girl asked if she could touch him, he didn't much mind being petted, he liked the attention if it was positive. Sylvi nodded a little, Murtagh would do no harm if he felt there was no threat, and what threat was there in a little girl? She was even younger than Sylvi, the wolf wasn't liable to attack children. Who are you, little one? The wolf asked her, large eyes settling upon Anna's face. Sylvi shuffled closer again, so she was level with Murtagh's front leg. It was strange for the wolf to take to someone so quickly, perhaps Murtagh could sense something Sylvi couldn't, he had far better judgement of people than she did.

"My name is Sylvi..." She told Anna, tilting her head to the side very much like a dog. "This is Murtagh." She gestured to the wolf, who merely wagged his tail in reply. Murtagh wasn't really one for playing, though if a creature large enough came along he'd most likely take the chance. Unfortunately the only animal quite as large as him were some of the big horses on campus, and they were all terrified of him, with good reason, really.</div>

Biting her lip, Annaleise reached out, sliding as close as she dared to Murtagh, her hands gentle as they came in contact with the wolf's thick furry neck. It wasn't soft like a pet's fur as she expected, but thick and coarse, designed to keep out all types of weather. Her fingers burrowed deeper into the thick coating of hair, the tips wriggling in a scratching motion.
Most other little girls would surely be terrified, but Anna was rather taken with this overgrown puppy.

"I'm Annaleise." Growing bolder now, Anna continued to pet the great wolf, admiring him openly as she went along. Sidling closer to Sylvi as she went along, Anna reached out to clutch at Sylvi's hand, hanging on tight. "I like you. You can be my new best friend." Honestly, Anna liked anything that fascinated her, and an elder girl that didn't immediately scold her for being present was something to be cherished. "Why are you out here, anyway?"

<div align=center>Murtagh wagged his tail softly, despite being the creature he was, he liked being petted, like any regular dog. It was nice. He didn't mind humans when they were as little as this, though this girl was completely different to Sylvi, she was little and dainty, though that certainly didn't mean she wasn't as fiery. He didn't know that just yet, though. However, it was unusual for her to take such a liking to him. Even staff tended to run from Murtagh, that strange man in the woods he'd growled at for instance, he'd nearly had a heart attack. That thought amused the creature, apparently.

Sylvi was a little taken aback when told she could be Anna's best friend, she'd never even talked to anyone properly before now, but this girl had already offered friendship. That was surprising, people tended to avoid Sylvi, stories had been spread about her biting people. Which of course were all entirely true, though she hadn't done it without reason. She smiled a little for a moment, why are you out here, anyway? The girl's smile switched to a small frown, "I don't like the school." She murmured, "they don't like Murtagh to go near there... They're under the impression that he's dangerous for some reason." She didn't think that, "It's not like he's stupid. Why would he eat anyone unless they did something wrong?" She couldn't really understand it.</div>

Taking the smile as a good sign, Anna sidled a bit closer, enjoying the feeling of holding hands with another person. Her ultimate safety blanket was being able to clutch at the hand or leg of another person, even if they continually shook her off. She just couldn't help it. And anyway, it was even more exciting that Sylvi had not pulled away.
Her eyes wide, Annaleise listened raptly, able to sympathise with the other girl's dislike for school. It was boring, and there were too many activities to do outside.

Her gaze switched back to Murtagh when he was mentioned, almost as if taking in his size for the first time. Yes, he would definitely be big enough to eat a person. Her face lit up in surprise and wonder, quickly asking, "Oh! Has he ever eaten anyone?" Sylvi had said that he was only likely to eat someone that had done something wrong, but Annaleise couldn't help but tally all the naughty things she had done recently. "Perhaps they know they've been bad, and they think he'll be able to tell, and eat them!" Envious of Sylvi's companion, Annaleise wished that she, too, could have a giant wolf to stay by her side and eat people she didn't take a liking to.

<div align=center>School was incredibly boring, Sylvi always tended to panic inside anyway. However, she did like the bed in her dorm. It was warm and comfortable, though nothing compared to Murtagh's shaggy pelt. She could keep warm curled up against him even when it was snowing. It was a shame he was too large to fit in the dorms with her, as well as the fact that he straight up wasn't allowed inside the school. Stupid. She thought, other people should just have to be careful, not us. They had students with all kinds of dangerous powers, what was so bad about the wolf?

"Well..." Sylvi wondered if the answer would deter the girl from her or not, "yeah." More than one person in fact. The fault did not lie with her, however, she thought. They'd been a danger to her, so they had been eaten. Simple as that. "Only scary people." She corrected, with a small smile. Murtagh wagged his tail again at the mention of that, almost as if he felt rather proud for his actions. They deserved it. He growled, shouldn't have pointed that gun at me. The creature yawned, showing off the pristine white fangs hidden within his mouth.</div>

Annaleise lit up considerably more when the fact was confirmed. She admired the wolf even more for that, and her affection for the creature grew. He only ate scary people, and Annaleise could commiserate with that. Though scary people probably didn't taste the best, she could bet that not many people missed them once they were gone. Once she was big enough, she wanted to start eating the mean people too.

"One day, I'll be big like him! I wanna eat scary people, too. They deserve to be eaten." With a frown, Annaleise delivered her last sentence. Though she had not met a whole lot of scary people, she was certain that they were out there somewhere. "I can turn into a dragon. Well. Sometimes. I'm getting better at it, though!" She had heard many times that dragons take decades to mature, but she didn't like that one bit. She wanted to mature now.

"Have you ever eaten a people?" Turning the question to Sylvi now, Annaleise's curiosity mounted, wanting very badly to know what a person might taste like. It was a morbid thought, and she gleefully determined to bring this topic back to her teachers, if only to inflict that pained martyr expression they adopted when speaking to the tiny girl.
