Ignatius had not brought the tiny note that listed out his secret santa's interests and wants. He'd already memorized it. It was short, brief, and gave him very little information. Not even a last name had graced the paper, although he suspected that 'Tanau' was quite possibly not human. It certainly wasn't a human name he'd heard before, if it was. It was probably for the better, because if he'd known Tanau's real page, he'd have decided he was too old for video games. As it was, he was fairly convinced he was a teenager, which worked out just well for him.

Ignatius had always enjoyed charity. Not the impersonal kind where he dropped a large amount of money on an organization, but the personal kind where he was able to clearly see the reactions. Perhaps it wasn't truly charitable if he was doing it for that reason, but he didn't particularly care what people thought of it. This was the third year he'd joined the secret santa, and the third year he'd gone a bit overboardwith his gifts.

Not that he had any on him. At the designated meeting time, Ignatius had taken a seat at one of the outdoor tables in a little cafe, and was conspicuously giftless.

Tanau's orange butterfly-like wings beat semi-rapidly as he flew around the general area downtown, albeit barely hovering a meter from the ground. He was holding a small piece of paper in one hand and a small christmas themed present bag containing a couple of ties on the other. On the paper were the types of gifts suggested by his secret santa; Expensive alcohol, and ties.

He was far from being able to afford any alcohol that would be considered 'expensive' (he really didn't like the tastes of a lot of alcoholic drinks anyways), but new ties, he was all over that. Tanau understood very well the feeling of wanting to look as dashing as possible, and appreciated his secret santa's potential taste for this sort of attire. So picking out some classy-looking ties (He'd assumed they meant the regular kind instead of bowties, otherwise they probably would have specified) was no problem for him.

He landed at their meeting point, his wings quite literally shrinking back into his clothes before disappearing inside the flaps at the back that allowed him to spread his wings at all. It didn't take long for him to find a person fitting the brief description he was given; taking to account his height and hair colour(s) alone, he was hard to miss.

"Hey, you must be..." He had to read his note again before continuing, boy did he have a strange name or what? "Igna...tius, right?"

Ignatius was not terribly surprised when the person who showed up for the secret santa was less than human. He'd grown up on the island, and while someone with grey skin and orange butterfly wings was unusual, it wasn't worth even a raised eyebrow. He was however pleased to see that the boy looked rather young - a boy, not a man.

That was good. He entered the secret santa in a not terribly unusual form of charity. Certainly he got something out of it, but most of what he got out of it was the sort of stuff you go out of giving people things and seeing how excited they got. It was very easy to give away large sums of money to the nebulous idea of 'charity', but it felt impersonal to do so. Ignatius still did, because it looked good, but it would never give him the same sort of feeling that paying for the person behind him in line's food would.

"Ignatius would be correct. And you would be Tanau?" He said it 'Tan-ow', although he wasn't entirely sure if that was the correct pronunciation. Considering he was almost entirely sure it wasn't a human word at all, he figured he could be forgiven if he screwed it up on the first try. "Who is fond of video games, comics, and pranks." He'd assumed (or perhaps hoped was a better word) that they'd be young, and was pleased to be right on the matter. He didn't approve of pranks at all, but he was perfectly fine with comics and videogames being used as entertainment for younger people, and in moderation for older people.

Ignatius was big on moderation.

"I left my gift in the back of the car - it's parked just over that a way." He said, gesturing back the way he'd come. He wasn't going to haul it around, considering the already poor state of his knees.

"Yes, I am Tanau." He replied, having been confirmed that this was the man he'd been paired with.

The man then mentioned that he'd left his gift in his car, which got him a bit curious about what this gift was. But instead of asking now, he decided to go with it. Oh, might as well show the man his gift too.

"Oh, cool. I've got yours right here. You said you liked ties, right?" He said as he handed the bag to Ignatius on the way to the car.

Ignatius decided it'd be prudent to open his gift first. For one thing, his car was a little bit of a walk, and for another, he was curious.

He accepted the bag with one hand, fishing through the paper to find the ties within. He pulled each one out in turn, inspecting them in turn. He grinned, an action that looked downright terrifying, but it was hardly as if he could choose to smile in a non menacing way. Having shark teeth pretty much guaranteed that if you were going to smile, it was going to look scary.

"They're excellent." A new set of additions to his already plentiful collection of ties. He swapped them out regularly, and every day at work tended to be wearing a different one. It made up for the fact that he was almost universally in the same suit.

He reached his car, a classy looking hatchback, and pulled open the passenger seat, depositing the gift bag he'd received there before closing it up and heading around back. He'd pulled down the privacy screens, hiding the contents of the trunk from view for obvious theft-related reasons, and left Tanau wondering until he opted to open the trunk, stepping out of the way to give him a view.

It was excessive, to say the least. Ignatius had no idea which video games Tanau had liked, so he'd more or less just decided to get all of them. All three modern consoles were in place, along with a selection of their various 'best ofs'. He'd consulted both a handy webpage and the store clerk to get ten games for each, the very best for each system, and he decided that even if some of them weren't to Tanau's taste, at least some of them would be.

"My only request is that if you don't like some of them, you donate them to a charity of your choice. The hospital takes video game donations for ill children, which is probably the best."

The man's grin as he examined his new gift was, to say the least, impressive. He pulled off the menacing look so well, it was like he'd been practicing for a while.

Now it was time to find out what his gift was. The car (which was also pretty impressive, and classy) seemed to have privacy screens on the windows, so he couldn't see what was inside.

When Ignatius did finally open the trunk of the car, his jaw practicallhy dropped. That was a lot of Earth games.

"Shit, all of that? Niiice!"

He seemed please enough with what he'd gotten, and Ignatius gave him a little smile (one with significantly less teeth). "I have to admit I have no idea what would be good or bad - nor did I have any idea what you already had. It seemed prudent to simply get the best of everything and have you donate whatever doubles you have." And if he already had all the systems... well, he'd gotten him the games as well. He'd covered his bases no matter what he already had.

"I hope you'll participate in the secret santa next year as well." Although he also hoped they weren't paired again - Ignatius enjoyed spreading the generosity around, and he'd have a hard time picking a gift for someone two years in a row. "If you'd like, I can drop them off at your place of residence - it seems smarter than trying to make you carry them home."
