Octain had taken a bit of a vacation when school ended. Journeying to his mountain for a few nights to gather his thoughts once more. Though the first day was special. He spent a good portion of the afternoon this day creating a picnic for himself and his girlfriend, Genesis. With his mask off he made some soup, Salad and some easy to eat finger food. Though the Kitchen in the Castle where he resided with rather spacious he got lost and a few of the creatures helped him gather the materials, but he made the food. He wanted it perfect for him and what he thought was...

Well.. It was obvious what he thought. He hummed to himself. His cloak was on the table while he was working. Until something bumped on the table. A small Kobold running around wearing the cloak but was spooked by it. Octain chuckled lightly as he took it off.

"Should you have wanted to wear it you could have asked." He said. Tying the fabric around it's neck. The Kobold thanking Octain then ran off into the castle. The cloak was next to lost. Then he sat down. Getting everything ready and worked on keeping it for later so he and his girlfriend would have the date. He then rubbing his chin. Trying to find something to kill the time. He was sure she would find the note on her bed when she went out for a bit.

"My Star, I wish for you to join me, there is a place south of the entrance to the Castle. Through a small portion of the forest lies a beautiful ridge, with a breathtaking view. I would ask that you join me there when the moon reaches it's fullest in the sky.

Love Octain"

So he then killed time by reading. Until it started to get late. So he made the basket, put in a blanket, a bottle of expensive wine, two glasses, plates, bowls and utensils for the time. He made his way to the forest then through a small path that lead to the ridge. Taking little time, his maskless face placed a blanket onto the ground, putting the plates and glasses down and started to set up the soup, salad and the sandwiches. It was something simple, but Octain made it all. For her.

He stood at the edge. Looking over the world under him. The view of the island, the water around it was breathtaking. Even now he was in amazement. Everything was stunning. His eyes followed roads. Seeing the academy, his work. Where.. Where he found her. Though it took a while he took a few minutes, which turned into an hour to enjoy the view, before the world around him was not lit by the sun, or was dark. It was graced by the moon. Octain wore a fine dress shirt with frills in the front, dress pants and a tie that was loose. He was happy with everything. He showed her everything about him. Where he truly lived and belonged, his family. His friends. Even his sister. Though.

She didn't leave. She stayed.

Lexi was happy.

Octain could never contain how he felt for Genesis.

He turned his body to the foliage to await the arrival of his fair maiden.

The evening was growing still. On the horizon, a painting of oranges and pinks touches the sky as the sun slowly lowered over the edges of the earth. Through the courtyard, robes brushed against dew-covered tulips. Gently, a marked hand reached down to pluck a yellow one. The elven woman put it to her nose to gently inhale.

It smelled like… Home.

She looked back up. Stars were beginning to poke out, which brought her mind back to the pretty note her beloved had left for her on her bed. She lifted it, remembering the instructions the note had given her. It was almost time to meet him, and though they were close… She was nervous.

Genesis loved him. That much was certain. But she had no idea how to go on a date. Her kind didn’t perform these rituals, but she was always up for something new. As such, she tried to dress her best. Her mint-colored hair was done up with summer flowers and ferns, covering up the fact that her tips were still a faded pink.

Through the back of the castle, she followed the path up to him. Through a grove, as the light of the day faded into night. Until the only light she could follow was that of fireflies and the moon rising above. She sighed. Her heart was pounding, but she was at peace.
Suddenly, she came across a small clearing to where he sat. With his mask off, exposed to the world.

”Orais..?” She called, standing there with her hand beckoning out to him. ”You… Planned this..?” She smiled softly. ”This is incredible...”

As his mind almost wondered off into the cosmos, he was brought back by a voice. It was her. Their destined meeting of his creation as he stood up to walk over to her. Holding he hand as he pulled her in slowly towards him. To give her a quick loving kiss on her lips. To show her he was here, with no mask.

"I indeed did. For yo-.. For us.." He was nervous, but he was happy with this situation. this was something that he wanted. "I am glad you think so. I hope.. That it is all to your liking." He then slowly moved them to the blanket, sitting on one side of it and opening the wine with a corkscrew and magic. It popped loudly as he slowly poured a drink for them both. Handing her one glass.

"It had been a long time since we got some time to relax and spend some time with one another. So I had thought of something like dinner under the moon would be a way to convey that." He said with a smile, taking a light sip of the wine as he looked at the plates and bowls. All set up for them as he looked at her.

Though it was interesting. He had tried everything he could to surprise her. Yet, the way she looked was more breath taking than the view he wanted to show her. The view. RIGHT.

He then sat up and held out his hand.

"My Star, I wish to show you something. Please, follow me."

When she grabbed his hand. How ever long it took he was going to help her up and moved closer to the edge. Showing her the moonlight view of the island below, illuminated by the city light and some other things, but that was he wanted to show her.

"The island we found each other on." He then pointed at the forest. "Where we first me."

To see him without his mask was a rarity, but a treasured one at that. He really was a handsome man, and it was a sham he felt compulsion to hide that fact. To hide that identity. Even now after dating him for awhile, Genesis still didn’t understand his need to hide. But even she could sense the proverbial storm cloud over him. Maybe it was best kept in secret.

”It is wonderful, dearest.” She stated softly, before briefly bowing her head in gratitude as he handed her the glass. Watching him pour the fancy wine as she listened carefully to his words. ”I am flattered by this surprise. It has been too long… Hmhm...” She chuckled warmly, which almost sounded like an easy purr. She took a sip of the wine, before looking up at Octain’s outstretched hand. She softly placed hers in his. Warm and soft, like always. She looked up at his face. A smile was returned. ”Of course...”

She followed behind him. Dutifully to what seemed like the edge of the earth. She looked over… Only to see one of the most beautiful sights her eyes have ever been exposed to.

There it was. The whole island. He could see everything, including the island that reached for miles. It was truly breathtaking, and her airy voice hinted her impressed nature. ”Orais… It is beautiful...” She said, before looking at him. She pulled herself close to him to nuzzle his chest. A soft hum came from her lips. ”Thank you for showing me. Thank you for taking me here.”

"Nothing is ever too good for you my star." He stated. Knowing that she was enjoying it just from looking at it made his heart swell with happiness. "Well.. I hope I had made everything to your liking. Took me a while to get everything right."

when their hands touch. Octain's heart almost skipped a beat. No matter how many times their hands touched. He felt. Safe. Stronger even. He had something more in the life to fight for. Not just to fight. Something more than his studies. He.

He had someone he could call his other.

Octain smiled at her answer. Only thinking that due to his work load it's been hard for them to spend time together to date, sometimes to even see each other when he's stuck in meetings for hours. It wasn't a part of his job that he liked, but someone had to do it.

"Please, my star. The view, the mountain. All of it is mine and yours." he felt her nuzzle into his chest. Smiling as she could hear his heart beat. Calmly. He then leaned down and kissed the top of the her head. "You have no need to thank me. I could show you so much more about this island. We have more than enough time to see everything it has to offer, but for now.."

He stopped himself for a moment to sweep his girlfriend off his feet. Picking her up in his arms bridal style as he then walked back to the picnic. "We have a date to finish~" he stated. Once they got there he put her down and sat beside her. For a moment he took his hand to remove his mask so he could eat.

Realizing he left it in the kitchen. He shrugged though his glove less hand over his scar. Taking a deep breath for a moment he then started to prepare the plates with a sandwich, some salad and the bowl of soup. Taking some sips of his wine before filling up his and her glass. Looking over to her as he held the cup up.

"To us my love.."

He said with a smile. awaiting for her to clink the glasses as he would then slowly start to eat. Though he did have a question for her.

"Genesis? Might I ask a question?" He spoke aloud. Trying to get to her know her. "Why have you taken up a nomadic life?"

Gratitude swelled in her chest as she was flattered by the lengths Octain went to ensure perfection for her. The view, the secluded grove, and the perfect evening sky seemed to be all tailored towards them. She couldn’t be more pleased on this date, which already would leave a strong impression on her as her very first one ever.

Her ear against his chest picked up the delicate pittering of his heart beat. By its rhythm, she formulated that he was just as nervous as she. But that nervousness was beginning to fade into confidence, cushioned by whatever sentimentality she was feeling at the moment. Beautiful, it was. All of this was simply beautiful. Though she wouldn’t get too comfortable merely standing there. After all, the night was there’s.

An unexpected, boisterous giggle came from her as he literally swept her off of her feet. Her cheeks were stained red from blush, and her soft lips were drawn up in a bright smile. A outburst of giddy behavior was a rarity for her, but it was only a side she let a very selective audience see. That consisted of the man that was carrying her, like some sort of elven princess.

”I know you are a man of your word~” She teased lightly, just as she was set back down on the blanket. She was eager to get this date started, and even more hopeful for what this opened up in terms of possibility for the future. Her eyes looked over at the product of his labor, before lifting her wines glass to have it filled by his hand.

”To us.” She said, with a smile on her face.

Unfortunately, that smile wasn’t made to last.

His next question caused it to waver. She looked down, into the deep red wine that she had yet to touch. She was silent for a few moments, before finally speaking in a hushed whisper. ”Orais.. You have seen why I at least move around in the winter.” She stated. It was the obvious, to her at least. ”I suppose for the remaining four seasons that it is a force of habit, or a learned behavior.” Her marked hand reached up and tucked a tuft of pink hair behind her elongated ear. ”My kind is not welcome in the normal realm. Magic does not exist there, and neither do magical creatures. Outside of my protected home lies a land that holds numerable threats for my people’s safety. I simply must not stay in one area for a long time, lest my secret becomes exposed and something horrible happens to either me or my loved ones.” A sigh escaped her lips. She was looking down now, into the wine that cast a blood-red reflection of herself. ”It makes me question why I was born into a magic-free world as a creature that embodies it. It makes me wonder if there is a darker reason as to why outside world is the way that it is.”

Her voice was somber now.

”This place is my last hope to find an answer. For why my people have to hide, and why I was made in the first place.”

Octain's demeanor changed as Genesis' did. His jester styled fun turned into something serious. He knew he hit a nerve and blamed himself for it. After the glasses clinked and Genesis started talking. He realized what was going on. What used to be a magical word was being turned into a mundane world. Slowly pushing all those with magic or beings of magic out of the world. He sighed as he placed his hand on her knee. Softly rubbing it as he looked at her.

"You are not the only one unwelcomed." He said. Looking down. Bits of his past sneaking into his mind for a moment. He felt cold. Hated. Feeling the souls of those who he had let down. Those who followed the orders of a madman. Shaking off the feeling he took her marked hand and softly kissed it. A gentle kiss on the middle of the mark as he held it. "I can comprehend why. Seasons change but are never the same. I am happy that you have joined me in staying on this island. It's a hope. A hope of a better future for all of us. I used to question my life every day." Something horrible happened to most of his loved ones. But.. He had the girl he loved more than anything and his daughter. He had something to protect and keep safe. "We are all born the way we are with potential. With the future in our own hands. You were born with a great gift. You are something special. I have never met someone like you. You are one of the most amazing people I have ever met Genesis, my love. The world we live in is magical. We are all the earth's children for a reason. I will help you as best I can with all I can. my love."

He said. Creating an orb of the earth in his hand. It was a perfect representation. "We can either unite the world. Creating a world of peace between magical beings." The earth stayed the same, but seemed peaceful. "Or.. It drowns in war from fear and anger." as the world slowly started to burn in his hand. He closed his hand the orb vanishing. "I want a future where the children of magic and children of mundane can live in harmony. The future we all strive for but I know if we band together we can do it. We need this. I wish to be able to walk the streets of the world once more, with out being looked at gawked at or forced into doing 'magic tricks' like a street performer."

He sighed for a moment.

"I used to live in a tower hidden in a desert. My people lived in seclusion from the world, but.. The leader wanted to do something horrible. To retake the world not by peace, but by war. And it costed our old Magistar's life when someone else caught on. There was not chance that we could risk a war. Not with so many children in the midst of our tower. The fight.. had costed the lives of everyone of my friends and my father. Leaving me.. As the soul survivor. I spent years moving from town to town. Doing what ever i could to keep me alive while practicing my craft. I never felt at home till I was here." He looked at the edge of the mountain. Almost as if it was the edge of the world. "It gave me my future. It gave Lexi a future I could not give her while I was travelling since no where was home. Being kicked out, ran out." He sighed for a moment.

Though he realized it got a little dark before smiling and sitting beside her.

"Hey.. My Fair Lady, Come here." He wrapped his arms around her and held her close. "You know. I'm glad you stayed here my half." He said. Softly kissing behind her ear.

She had heard it before. She was special, she had a gift. She was the only beacon of hope her family had, though here she was nothing short of ordinary. In a sense, this is what she had wanted all along. She wished for a world of magic and splendor, be it for purity or evil. The mundaneness of the outside world crafted her into an anomaly. Here, she was just a citizen.

Still, she couldn’t protest against the different sort of special she was in his eyes.
His words soothed her, even as he began to unravel his own tragic tale. The tale of the earth, what was to be, an how he fit in. She looked at his magic, to his face, to his eyes. If she stared long enough, it was as if each gold fleck within them held a lifetime’s worth of agony. She leaned in, putting down her wine glass.her elongated fingers delicately wrapped around his hands as she waited for her turn to speak. Of course, such a feat would become increasingly difficult the more he revealed about himself.

”...Orais...” She whispered, her eyes looking to the ground as he pulled her in. ”Thank you… For telling me. I know this all pains you, but..” Genesis inhaled once he kissed behind her pointed ear. ”It is in the past. As you have said, it is the future we must look towards.”

Her eyes closed. ”I… Have a substantial responsibility on my behalf. I must help my people. But it is not my kin who just matter. I wish for this whole island to be able to share the world we live in. I.. Hope I live to see that day. And I hope that you will as well.” The words came as a whisper, as if she were hesitant to share this far fetched desire. But those musings were far more than what the two could supply on their own. Together…

She kissed him back. Her hand cradled his cheek, before she looked to the stars. ”At least.. We have sanctum. We have each other. We...” She took his hand, folding it over her breast to hover before her heart. ”We are one. Yes, I believe we are.”

Octain listened to Genesis, he spilled his soul and everything that was his past. Though he was smiling, the past didn't matter, his future did. Their future did. Though him living long enough to seeing a world were magic and mundane worked together in harmony seemed distant to him. Maybe something that he couldn't be there for it, but. He was hopeful. Something could happen between now and then that could give him something.

"I will do everything in my power to assist you. You are never alone my star. Everything that is me is at your disposal. I shall endeavor to help and assist you. Your people need help. I will never turn a blind eye to those my love cherishes dearly." He ushers to the castle, "All of this.. Is not just mine, yet we share it. I will always be here to help you."

He felt her hand over her breast and her heart. He could feel her heartbeat. Feeling the warmth of he love and life. His other hand moved to her cheek and slowly traced the markers as he kissed her lips lightly.

"We have love. We have life. We have each other." He said with a smile. "Well Genesis.." He whispered gently.

He slowly used his hand over her heart to her should and lightly guided her to lay on the blanket as he moved on top of her. Leaning in to start slowly kissing her lips. One loving and tender kiss after another. Keeping a soft rhythm with the sounds that flowed with the island. The world around them full of the sounds of flowing rivers, the wind blowing and the sounds of nature all in harmony.

He almost couldn't keep himself away. His hand on her cheek slowly running through her hair. Using his other hand to gently caress the sides of her body. Touching over her clothes, the beautiful clothes she wore for him. To the date. Though they did eat and had a few to drink and talked. Octain felt perfect. He was with the most beautiful girl he had ever met. He could only keep kissing her.

"Genesis.. My Fair Lady. I love you."
