Personality Description:
Childish:
She may be over 1000 years old but is hardly what one would call mature. She highly approves kids acting their age and adults acting like children.
Mischievous:
Molly just loves playing little tricks on others. These pranks are typically light-hearted when directed onto children but if Molly’s target is an adult, she pranks are more sinister as they usually aimed to embarrass, injure, or maim the targeted adult.
Caring (to Children):
Molly will attend to the needs of any child. She will gift toys, share snacks, and watch over all the children around her. Anything that a child might desire Molly will go out of her way to achieve.
Protective (to Children):
Molly has an almost motherly protection of the children she has under her care and will go out of her way to defend so long as she is not destroyed in the process.
Controlling:
Molly believes kids should be kids… even if she must enforce it. Molly has no qualms with using her power to force children to get along or to use them against adults that try to force children to something they don’t want to do.
Playful (to Children):
Molly loves to play with children and will go along with whatever game or activity they are all doing at that moment. Molly is also very encouraging of children playing. Should Molly see a child working or not having fun, she will try to get them engaged in some other activity that is far more entertaining.
Suspicious (to Adults):
While she may acknowledge that not ALL adults are bad... the horrible atrocities Molly has witnesses over the millennium have largely tarnished her image of most adults. She thus suspicious and hostile to any adult on first contact unless they behave in a manner that she would otherwise expect out of children.
Malicious (to Adults):
Molly abhors grown up for their role in causing suffering to the innocent children. Molly goes out of her way to harm grownups however she and limit their influence over children. The only exception is grownup who act like children as Molly will treat these grownups the same as she would any other child as she considers them to be just big kids.
Fae Kinship:
Molly has a certain kinship with the many fea species and tends to me more tolerate with fae, spirits, and immortals than she is with adults humans. Such beings Molly highly respects.
Powers:
Hypnosis:
As with some other mothpeople, Molly can hypnotize people if they are to make direct eye contact with her while her eyes are glowing red. When they are look into her glowing red eyes, they would feel tired and become vulnerable to Molly’s hypnosis ability in which she could put them to sleep, offer then a suggestion, or manipulate their memories. Typically, Molly poses her keywords as questions as to maintain the illusion that the person under her hypnosis is fully in control of their actions without realizing that they are being manipulated. Molly is only capable of hypnotizing one person at any one time.
1) Sleep:
Once Molly has maintained eye contact with her victim for over minute while her eyes glow red, Molly can order them to fall asleep for an hour. She will usually phase her command as a question such as “You appear rather tired, why don’t you rest your eyes by the grass? Doesn’t it feel soft on your feet?”. Afterwhich, the entranced person will agree that they feel tired and fall into a deep sleep wherever they are. They will sleep for a maximum of one hour unless woken up by some outside force such as a strong shove, loud noises, or pain.
2) Suggestion:
Should Molly be looking directly into someone’s eyes while her eyes glow red, Molly can somewhat influence their behavior through suggestions. Molly uses this ability to encourage children to play instead of doing chores, getting out of punishments by adults, or getting someone to agree with her. Molly phrases her suggestions as questions, usually the lines of “Timmy has worked long enough on his homework, don’t you think he deserves a break with his friends?”, “All your mother does is order you around, why don’t you do what you want to do?”, “You should go make some friends, why not talk to that girl over there?”, or “I’m sorry that I broke your vase but can you just let me go this one time since I am such a good kid?”. Since Molly’s suggestions sound reasonable at first, many would just go along with suggestion even when they notice that that he eyes are glowing red each time she makes such suggestions. This suggestion generally has greater success on the dull and the weak minded while the strong minded or mentally aware may notice what she is trying to do.
3) Memory Manipulations:
Molly can also use her powers to manipulate the memories of others. While staring at her victim with her glowing red eyes, Molly must have one hand on the person’s head for her to start the process. If wishes to permanently wipe someone’s memories or make then remember something they had forgotten, she must maintain physical contact while she looks into their eyes for over an hour. If Molly wants them to forget/remember something in specific, she only needs to tell them what it is they are to forget/remember such as “Can you forget everything that you witnessed here today?”, “Could you please remember everything that happened when you arrested on July 12[sup]th[/sup] 1892?” or “Do you think you can forget all about watching your sister dying in your arms?”.
Illusion:
Along with her ability to hypnotize people, Molly can also use a variety of illusions to help her blend in with humans, play pranks on adults or as a way to defend herself. While these illusions are incapable of really hurting anyone, they are useful in drawing their attention elsewhere as she lacks any way to combat any threats to her or to the children she is so devoted to protecting.
1) Resistance to Illusions:
Having a mastery over illusions, Molly is largely unaffected illusions used against and can see past all but the most power illusions and glamours.
2) Appearance Perception:
Molly can change how people can perceive her through the power of illusion. Molly can use this power to change her appearance into variety of color schemes aside from her default white/lilac coloration. Molly can also change her appearance to take on the form of a human as well as any other humanoid race roughly her size. Her illusion effects not only she appears to others but also other senses. This allows her to also change how she sounds, how she smells, and what she feels like when touched. Molly can also use this ability to appear as if she is wearing clothing as well.
3) Ethereal Mist
Molly can generate a thick fog 130 feet (40 meters) around her that obscures vision. This fog can be countered through alternative visual methods such as echolocation or thermal vision. Magical spells or enchantments can also be used to dispel the fog. Because the fog is an illusion, it cannot be blown away with wind.
4) Copies:
Molly can generate up to four copies of herself at one time. These copies effectively function as holographic projections and cannot interact with physical objects. Molly tends to use these copies as distractions. While they are perfect copies of whatever form Molly is taking on, the copies can be discerned from the real Molly from the fact that the copies a slightly translucent.
5) Project Noise:
Molly can fool people into hearing noises that are not there. So long as Molly can visually see her target, Molly can make then hear any noise from any direction around them. Potential noises Molly can use range from a sound of young girl crying in front of them, a train horn approaching behind them, or scurrying insects around then. Any noise Molly can think of she is more than capable of doing so. Molly can only project a sound at person at a time.
Species Strengths:
Nightvison:
Can see in the dark as well as any person can see in the day.
Flight:
Molly can use her wings to fly high in the air with ease.
Longevity:
Molly is already over thousand years old and will like on to the end of time so long as she isn’t prematurely killed.
Mothspeak:
Molly can speak to speak to moth and command them to do her bidding. Molly typically uses her moth learn about her surrounds or certain people ahead of time long before she makes her appearance.
Silky Coat:
Not only does her thick silky coat super soft, her thick coat also confers protection against the cold weather and is surprisingly fire-resistant.
Species Weaknesses:
Sugary Diet:
Molly lacks teeth and depends on a liquid or semi-liquid diet with high amounts of sugar. Traditionally, Molly’s diet consisted mostly of tree sap, nectar, and honey. Given proximity with humans these days, her diet has expanded to a variety of surgery drinks, smoothies, yogurt, and sauces. Any solid or hard foods are off limits for her.
Soft-Body:
Much of her body underneath the fur is soft squishy skin that is highly susceptible to damage. Even her more armored body parts like her arms and legs are covered in a chitin that offers as much protection as cardboard. Molly’s flesh also bruise easily and she can’t hold up to the rigor of excessive rough play.
Weak:
Molly only weighs a wee 30 pounds and her tiny insect-like appendages are unsuited for lifting heavy objects. Anything weighing 15 pounds is impossible for her to pick up.
Bright Objects:
Molly becomes disorientated in the presence of bright and flashing lights.
Reflections:
One crippling weakness with her illusions are the fact that they don't work reflections. Thus mirrors and reflective surfaces can be used to reveals Molly's true appearance and to see past any of her illusions.
Biography:
The origins of this mothgirl are largely a mystery even to herself. She does not recall whether she had had parents or not. For as long as she can remember... she had lived within the charming forest in what is now the modern-day country of Ukraine. Her life was largely tranquil in these forests rarely traveled upon by humans as she played with many other woodland spirits and mythological creatures such as fairies or spirits. While the mothgirl was a unique resident in these parts, the local fairies and spirits accepted her as one of their own. Within these forests, she and most of the other fairies lived lived in an isolated glade with a small creek that flowed all year even during the winter.
This peaceful existence was not to last as the aspirations of man lead to conflict lead to conflict in these lands. From the invasions of the Khazars, the conquest of Kievian Rus, Mongol invasions, the mothgirl was a passive observer to the conflicts and cruelty of man. While many of her fae friends have long since left the area due to human encroachment, the mothgirl remained as for despite the horrors man wrought to their world she saw a glimmer of hope in the children of man. To her, they were but kindred spirits not yet corrupted by vile perversions of man. To try to preserve their innocence, the mothgirl would “invite” children into her realm and intended her secret glade as a sanctuary to preserve and protect them. Many of these children would never be seen again as she would take care of their every need while preventing them from ever leaving her realm.
Over the following centuries, the mothgirl would collect lost or rebellious children who stray far from their parents into her secret home. Among the locals, she was referred to as many names but it was the title of Moli Vykradach or “moth kidnapper” that would eventually stick to the point the mothgirl herself eventually referred to herself by some variation of that name. While there had been many attempts to hunt down Moli Vykradach, her mastery of illusions and her reclusive nature thwarted all the attempts to destroy her. People eventually started to doubt her existence in the first place as humans began to abandon their superstitious beliefs and attributed the missing children to other more “logical” reasons. And thus, Moli Vykradach passed off into the realm of myth and legend, forgetting that the moth kidnapper was very much real and very much still being responsible stealing away hundreds of children even if they long denied her existence.
While the secret glade had been her home for centuries (as well as becoming a grave for the many children who died while her supervision despite her best care) Moli would eventually be driven off when logging operations in the early 1900’s diverted the source of the creek and cleared cut the surrounding old growth forest. Rather than finding a new sanctuary, Molly instead lived among the humans in human child form to be closer to the children she holds with such high regard. Her opinion on adults hardly change and the horrors of the world wars as well as the the totalitarian rule of the Soviet Union only reaffirmed Moli’s stern belief adults and their power struggles were responsible for much of the suffering in the world.
Moli was only recently discovered by a Starlight Academy Scout who had discovered that seemingly normal looking 4th grade student in a recluse border down in the Ukraine was actually a mothperson in disguise. Using what limited information the Scout had however, they incorrectly presumed Moli to be child when in reality she was exceptionally old for her kind. Nevertheless, Moli accepted the Scout’s offer when she was promised of attending Starlight Academy and its diverse cast students to which she plans on “liberating” from adult tyranny. When she was applied a citizenship to Mantra Carlos, her name was accidentally changed to Molly due to a clerical error but mothgirl kept the change since it sounded exactly the as before.
Additional Notes:
A special thanks for EVERYONE who voted on on the BEST MOTHGIRL thread! While Molly's final appearance has changed quite a bit from her original character design due to constant changes to her character personality, backstory and powers... I made sure to use the the color scheme that everyone judge to be the the best! So congrats to the the IMPERIAL mothgirl for the final colors! And don't feel like the rest of you wasted you vote... you might see Molly appear in other colorations as I gave her the power to modify how she appears to other people due to the overwhelming support for all of the other coloration such as Bubblegum, Deadman, and Royal Maple! Still no love for Yellow Jacket though LOL! Thank you all for the votes and chatbox hilarity over the best mothgirl XD
