Private Finished Mixed Emotions

Tomomi had been pretty useless during this whole cleaning shebang. She had mostly messed around, and gathered trash into easily pickable piles. But actually cleaning cleaning? Nah.
Even now she was creeping along the trees and looking for people to jump on and get some scratches and snuggles. Those were the best parts about being a cat, and since Tomomi had been a cat most of her life she had no shame.
Tomomi noticed a bird, and her feline instincts kicked in. She started sneaking, slowly creeping up on the bird. But just as Tomomi was behind it the bird saw her and flew away fast as a lightning. Tomomi grumbled a bit and clawed the tree a bit. Her nails were becoming too dull.
Tomomi climbed down and started coursing through the bushes. She was a bright white flash between the leaves.
Suddenly Tomomi stopped and heard a familiar scent. Jii's scent. Tomomi's ears perked and she dashed to the direction it was coming from. Soon she found the cutie, sitting on a log. Tomomi started sneaking again, and this time her prey had no idea what was coming. When she was just behind Jii Tomomi turned back into a human and hugged Jii from behind.
"Hello cutie! You smell good today as well, it gave ya right away."

Tomomi's huge grin kinda died a little when she saw Jii's reaction. She was red as a beet again, and seemed uncomfortable in so many ways. Tomomi let go of Jii and sat on the ground in front of her. Tomo still had a smile on her face but it was more controlled, tentative. She crossed her legs and stroked her hair a bit, cat-like. It was a habit.
"Hey cutie, are ya okay? Do ya still got the fever from earlier?"
Tomomi lifted her hand and tried Jii's forehead. It was hot, actually pretty much so. Tomomi looked at Jii worriedly and sat beside her, absently stroking Jii's hair.
"Hey look, I kinda wanna apologize as well, ya know, if that discussion we had bothered ya. You know, in the tree."
Tomomi felt a little, no, a lot unsettled, and she shrugged, avoiding her gaze. She blushed just a bit, embarrassed beyond belief. Why did she remember Eli and his weird state from earlier now? Tomomi really wasn't any good at emotional stuff.
"But Jii, cutie, you're kinda, like, important to me and I wanna be friends with ya. I hope you're okay with that."
Tomomi felt bad because Jii could probably feel what she was feeling. And didn't that just make her even more embarrassed.

Tomomi, for the first time in her life, was rendered speachless. Of course she had had her suspicions, she wasn't that much of an idiot. But just the thought that anyone could harbour feelings towards her was ridiculous in her books. It was not that Tomomi didn't think she was worth it, or that she hated herself. Tomomi simply knew herself, knew what kind of person she was. She was easy to approach, easy to like, easy to dislike. But she was hard to hate, and hard to love. Or at least Tomomi had thought that, truly believed it. She had given up of ever loving someone, though she had sometimes, fleetingly, yearned it. And still, here Jii was, pouring her heart out at Tomomi. Tomomi had known Jii for a brief time, like Jii herself said, yet her feelings seemed to be strong. Tomomi listened to them closely, tried to understand, and kinda did.
Tomomi had never romantically liked or loved anyone. She was pretty sure cats couldn't feel love, not in a way that humans did, and Tomomi had spent a pretty short time as a human, or half of a one. Her brain, soul, had been capable of love for such a short time. And if Tomomi was honest she was a bit scared of it. Sex and all the physical she understood, but emotions were still very new to her. Love, wrath, hate.
The scene of her old owner flashed through her mind and Tomomi clutched the hand missing two fingers against her chest.
Tomomi watched as Jii slid to the ground, and slid down with her, however keeping her distance as not to overwhelm Jii any more than she already was overwhelmed. But as Tomomi saw Jii's tears she felt tears well up in her eyes as well. Tomomi touched her eyes, really confused, and stared at her wet fingers. When was the last time she had cried?
Yes, when she had been sitting on Kikuko's store's floor, having just almost killed two people. But that had not been why she had cried. Tomomi had cried because Kikuko had cried. A person she loved, held so dear, had cried. Dear to her...
Tomomi looked at Jii, and smiled while crying. It was a smile unlike she had ever mustered, it was gentle, peaceful. Tomomi reached out her hand, wanting to touch Jii, but stopped herself and just lowered her hand to the grass.
"You would never scare me away, or lose me. It ain't possible, you're stuck with me. Jii..."
Tomomi took a tone that demanded for Jii to look at her.
"I understand yer feelings, I understand them now. I will not shun ya because of 'em. I really like ya Jii, I do. But not the way you do. At least..."
Tomomi shrugged
"Not yet. But I assure ya, it's more than possible. Just...gimme time, will ya?"

Tomomi was indeed feeling weird, but it was kind of a relief Jii was not that experienced with feelings. Well, these kinds of feelings. Tomomi wasn't used to intense feelings in general.
But Tomomi could understand not wanting to lie to the people you cared for, and she smiled at Jii. Her face was an emotional mess and Tomomi chuckled a bit. She wanted to snuggle Jii to death.
"Jii, I get it. Ya don't need to twist yerself about it anymore."

Tomomi was so happy when Jii came to her lap herself. It felt like everything was back to normal. Well, not normal. But the change wasn't bad, not necessarily.
"I wanna stay with ya too. Like I said, you're stuck with me. And if ya try to shake me Imma hang on tight. Cats are good at that."
Tomomi stroked Jii's head, it felt like her hand belonged there.
"Ya could never make me uncomfortable. I'll even reserve my lap for you to make ya stay there."
Tomomi went serious for a minute.
"I won't call ya cutie anymore if it's too much for ya."

Tomomi watched Jii curled up in her lap, so small and precious. So special. And she said she didn't deserve someone like Tomomi? Tomlmi blushed and covered her face with her hands, flopping on her back.
"Seriously Jii, I should be the one to say that. Why did ya fall for someone like me? I don' deserve yer affections in the least."
Tomomi groaned silently and baked her cheeks with her palms. She wanted to turn into a cat and escape the hell out of here. But then she glanced at Jii and her rosy cheeks and was like nah, never mind.
"I wanna stay with ya tol cutie. Sure, let's go back to the camp."
Tomomi stood up and scooped Jii up with her, holding her in her arms. She fit so snuggly in there.
