Private Finished mistaken faces

Adeloise considered his question, then looked at her companion who didn't help by only giving her a shrug. She had no way of going to... wherever Henry was from to find out for herself. Her own uncle told her she wasn't strong enough to try to find out long-distance so all she could tell him was: "I mean there probably was, but he might have been minding his own business." Ghosts tended to do that, she learned. Special cases were those like Adrien who messed with things, but she wouldn't tell that to Henry so early in their meeting!

"I hope I do grow taller!" she mused aloud, but her expression softened into a thoughtful look. Her gaze seemed a little far off. "But... I also kinda like people calling me small and cute.... I wonder if cute and tall works. I really liked being small for that since I didn't know anyone who was tall and cute..."

She was quick to fall quiet but her thoughts were still on the go. When she looked back to Henry, she saw an unsure look on his face. "Hm... I don't know if I should say I'm used to it. I still visit them a lot so, everytime I came back here, I felt kinda lonely," she told him honestly. She had company, but she missed her mom when she cooked dinner, when her dad came back home from work, and also hearing her brother from the other room. A beat passed, and she gave him a toothy grin, "But I think that's normal! You're going to miss family but that's why you make friends here! Good friends who'll make you feel less sad! So cheer up!"

Adeloise wanted to ask why he didn't like being called cute but then remembered just by the curious look she gave Adrien that the male ghost also had a distaste for being called "pretty". Maybe that could be synonymous or something. On the other hand, Adrien felt sorry for the dense little girl he was looking after. What a precious soul she was, he thought to himself. She never really felt it when people were only humoring her, but neither did she ever listen to either her companions.

"Of course! A lot of people on the island is real nice!" If only Henry could see the ghost's face, then he would have shared the expression on Adrien's face that moment. Poor Adeloise, stuck in her ideal world where every person was kind. Adeloise paid no attention to him. "The first person I met on the island was really nice; he's kind of like my uncle or something but not by blood sort of? A lot fo my friends here are kind of like family to me!" The girl reached out and took Henry's ands into hers, smiling the whole time. "You can be like my little brother! Well, not little-little, but you're still younger than me! How's that?"

"For now!" Adeloise replied confidently, taking a step back and standing tall with her hands to her hips. "I'm going to get a growth spurt in time and I'll be tall and pretty like the other girls in the higher grade. Just you wait!" She held her head up high; she was betting it all on puberty, but if it fails her, she could probably get away with just being adorable as she is now.

"Besides, I have an uncle --Uncle Hal-- he's five years older than me but he's just about your height last I saw him. Maybe even shorter." She heard Adrien mutter something about hoping the person in question wouldn't hear that; he'd been touchy about the topic then.

"So! I could help you around. I've got the elementary school building memorized like the back of my hand by now so would you want a little tour?" She didn't really have it completely memorized, but if she fails, Adrien never had a problem with navigating for the both of them.
