"Don't be so modest." Mimic replied, waving a hand in front of him as if to erase her remark. "I was cursed." He added nonchalantly.

Eloi raised an eyebrow and wondered what he meant by being cursed. Was he cursed into flattering young women despite it not being true? She shook her head, and almost laughed.

"Cursed? What's your curse?"

Surely being dangerous, and unwanted was a big enough curse for Eloi...

Mimic dug deep into his pocket and withdrew a small mirror. Cracks spiderwebbed across the surface. "I WAS cursed. Long ago, this mirror would not show your reflection, but a reflection of how you would die... And then your death date would be moved to tommorow instead of however long it would usually take...Sometimes sooner. Some might say I AM the mirror. Others might speculate that I'm an embodiment of the curse." He pondered for a moment. It was quite a conundrum. "What is your thought on this?" He asked curiously, in a tone that clearly conveyed that he valued her opinion.

Eloi looked up at Mimic with a confused expression. That was... by far... the strangest things she had ever heard of. She raised an eyebrow, and wasn't sure how to respond. He asked her a question, so she would have to eventually... But a mirror that showed someone's death? That wasn't good...

"I... don't know." She was thinking, unsure of what kind of mirror would show someone's death. Not a very nice mirror, that was for sure. "So... is your curse, that you really don't exist? Or if you do... you exist from a mirror?" Awfully strange.

Mimic nodded slowly before recounting what he remembered.. "I'm not so sure about the first one, but I'm fairly certain I was born from this mirror. It was guarded by a great black dragon. An explorer discovered the cage and wandered inside. Without looking at his reflection, he reached out and touched it. At that exact instant, his village burned down." Mimic shook his head. "He barely escaped the dragon's wrath."

Eloi frowned. What a terrible way to live. She wondered if she'd rather be cursed with a destructive mirror than be a telepathic mute. Being a mute wasn't any fun, and being scared of everything wasn't fun either.. But she thought that having a cursed mirror would definately not be fun. Eloi bit her lip, still listening to Mimic.

Mimic continued. "When he touched the mirror, it shattered in a flash of light. When it had cleared, my existence began. I protected him from the dragon long enough for him to escape." He rolled up his sleeves to show the deep scars on his arms. "The magic is gone from the mirror. I'm all that's left."

Eloi's eyes went wide as he showed her the scars on his arms. That was terrible! She put her hand out to touch them, but looked up at his face, and retracted her hand back to her body, fumbling with her scarf. She looked at Mimic as he explained where he came from. It was nice of him to protect that other man... She chewed on her cheek, and continued to fumble with her scarf.

"Ever since that day, the explorer mourned the loss of his family his friends and his home. I promptly left; To them I would be a living reminder of their misfortune." His eyes grew brighter, now holding a youthful sort of happiness and enthusiasm. "It used to be much worse! For a few days I was dizzy from my wounds, which were everywhere. By now the smaller scratches are gone." He finished, His grinning face was a beacon of optimism.

Forever silent, Eloi just looked at Mimic. A strange existence.. That was for sure.. What a terrible way to live for the young knight.. How could things be worse than losing everything you knew and loved? She looked up at the strange youth, and raised an eyebrow.
