Time to stretch my wings

Myth was lying in his single bed, in his dorm. It was a restless night, and he found himself unable to sleep, tossing and turning in bed, but unable to get comfortable and drift off, instead his gaze kept being drawn to the window, and the view of the night sky. The full moon and stars hung heavy in the sky, not a cloud to be seen. The night was almost as bright as day, and all the lights throughout the Academy were off, causing the majesty of the night sky to really be noticeable.

Finally giving up on sleep, Myth rolled out of bed, sitting on the edge as he placed his feet on the wood floor. He quietly padded about his room, getting ready. Pulling on a pair of black athletic shorts over his boxers, Myth stood before his window, shirtless and barefoot, ready for a night away from the dorm, normally he wouldn't do this at night, but it was so bright out he figured he'd be fine.

Myth quietly, so as not to wake his roommate, pulled open the large window in his room, letting the gentle summer night's breeze flow in. Then he pulled himself up into the window, and with a kick of his legs, Myth threw himself out into the open air. As he fell, he pulled his arms and legs in against his body, and angled himself so that he was falling straight down, headfirst. And then, two giant, majestic, falcon wings, burst out of his back at the shoulder blades. Catching the updraft, Myth spread out his wings and with a mighty downstroke, he was free of the earth's gravity, and flying over the grounds.

After passing over the lake, the dark waters reflecting the sky above, Myth angled his flight back to the school, and began gaining altitude, so that he was quickly traveling towards the towers. When Myth reached the towers, he banked his wings, and grabbing one of the thin metal lightning rods shooting up out of the top of the tower, he steadied himself, before retracting his wings. Up here, the wind was a little stronger and colder, but Myth was used to it, after all he couldn't fly if he was wearing a shirt.

Dropping down, Myth made himself comfortable laying on the roof of the tower, as he gazed up at the night sky.

Twisting and turning in bed, Amore tried to wake up from the nightmare but it didn't work. She was reliving her childhood all over again. In her dream she screamed and kicked out at her father, but he kept hitting her. Finally, Amore was able to wake herself up. Breathing fast and hard, she untwisted herself from the bedsheet that had worked its way around her.

Standing, she grabbed a towel off a nearby peg on the wall and headed to the bathroom. There, she took a long shower to calm herself down. It wasn't very often that she had nightmares like this. It made her angry when it happened, and the anger gave her energy.

Finishing with the shower, she dried off and got dressed in comfortable shorts and a light purple tank. She then slipped on a pair of tennis shoes and went outside. Amore set off running at a slow jog, but was soon running at a fast sprint. Being a vampire, she had super speed. So her sprint deffinately wasn't like a human sprint. Since she kept her hair down, it was quickly air dried.

After an hour of running without stop, Amore finally pulled to a stop and leaned against a tree. Her muscles had a healthy burn to them, and despite her sweating and breathing hard, she smiled. She pushed herself away from the tree and wandered around, letting the cold night air cool her off.

For some reason she soon found herself in the towers, headed to the roof. She'd not been in this part of the school yet, so she took her time.

As Myth was laying on the roof of the Tower, his gaze lost in the sky, his mind lost in his thoughts, the sound of footsteps pierced his solitude. raising his head silently, Myth had a view of the tower observation platform below the roof, and a girl, about his age, standing there, she was wearing a purple tanktop, and a pair of shorts, her pale skin seemed luminous as the moon and starts shone across her, and her pale blone hair seemed to glow. As Myth silently watched, he felt this strong urge, desire, to talk to her, meet her, something that he hadn't really felt before, proving to him that he was finally getting over his family's death, and the paranoia Wrath had put in him, after all he wasn't dead yet, and it proved that the loner inside was opening up. Still lying on the roof, resting his head back, Myth spoke up.

"You know, its pretty late out, shouldn't you be in bed," Myth's tone was a light joking one, cause why was he asking, shouldn't he be in bed after all. "And aren't you cold up here." Unable to think of what to say without talking to her face to face, Myth rolled up so that he was sitting on the edge of the roof, his legs dangling, before he dropped down next to her.

"Hi, my name's Myth, sorry if I gave you a fright."

Leaning on the rail, arms crossed, Myth realized that she was as short as he was, in fact they could practically look each other in the eye, it was then that Myth realized he wasn't wearing any shirt, and what normally wouldn't bother him, since he couldn't wear one to fly, seemed to cause embarrassment inside, causing him to blush slightly, but he hoped that since he wasn't looking at her now, and it was night, she wouldn't realize.

"Don't mind me, couldn't sleep so I was out here looking at the sky, if you want some privacy I can go somewhere else." But Myth was hoping she wouldn't ask him to leave, because on a subconcious level, he realized that if this, his first attempt to make friends, failed, then he would be alone for the rest of his life. Little did he know, that if he had been looking down at the grounds earlier, and seen the flash and blur of her running, something that most would pass off as the night playing tricks on him, but he'd recongnize as a vampire running, and that if he had seen her coming to the Towers, when she came out here she wouldn't have been greeted with friendly words, but waves of fire. Good thing Myth was completly unaware of her vampiric nature.

"You know, its pretty late out, shouldn't you be in bed,"

When Amore heard that, she, against her will, stiffened and tried not to scream. It didn't matter that this person was human and talking in a friendly manor. She didn't like to be scared. She also didn't like that he had invaded her peace. Sure, he had been there first, but he hadn't had to speak. She would have been fine with them keeping to themselves. Obviously, he wasn't. So instead of being rude like she felt like being, Amore spoke up softly. "Yes, but so should you too, yes?"

"And aren't you cold up here."

Yes, she was slightly cold, considering her clothes hardly covered her. But Amore didn't care. She actually enjoyed being cold. Instead of answering, she just shrugged.

"Hi, my name's Myth, sorry if I gave you a fright."

Amore leaned against the rail next to him, forcing herself not to bristle at the fact that he was invading 'her' space. She looked him up and down, sizing him up. She, also, realized he was void of a shirt, but didn't pay attention to that. He had to be only a few inches taller than her, if that. That fact made a smile pull at the corners of her mouth. Usually she had to crane her neck to be able to look at a person's face.

"Nice to meet you." She said, knowing that she was half lying. "I'm Amore. And no, you didn't." She knew that was a lie too, and was sure Myth could tell it was.

"Don't mind me, couldn't sleep so I was out here looking at the sky, if you want some privacy I can go somewhere else."

Amore sure felt like telling him to buzz off, and that if he didn't she'd use her strength to make him leave, but decided against it. What harm would it be to just talk to the guy for a while? Shaking her head, Amore assured, "No, you're fine."

It was obvious that despite her words, Amore didn't want Myth there, and he had been about to throw himself off of the tower, when she siad he could stay, so he did.

"Look, I'm sorry for intruding, if you want me to leave Amore, it's no problem. Just say it and I'll throw myself off this tower."

Myth smiled challengling at her. "Sure is a beautiful, peaceful night, usually once the sun sets, I start getting worried that I might be attacked, but for some reason I just don't feel that tonight.

Amore's eyebrows rose. Throw himself off? She could easily do that for him, and she grinned at that thought. Of course, she wouldn't. He hadn't done anything wrong. Shaking her head, she gave him a smile. "No. You're fie. Please stay, Myth."

"Sure is a beautiful, peaceful night, usually once the sun sets, I start getting worried that I might be attacked, but for some reason I just don't feel that tonight.

Frowning slightly at him in confusion, she asked, "Attacked by what?"

Myth saw a flicker of reaction as he said about throwing himself off the Tower, but she told him he was fine, that he could stay, so he did. And then she brought up the attacked at night, and Myth realized he may have blundered.

"Well nothing really....you'd probably not believe me even if I told you....okay, but I'm not crazy, this vampire has been attacking me some nights, always the same guy, always only me. I've had a couple close calls, close enough to convince me that he really is a vampire, but this night seems so peaceful, and he usually only tries something when I'm by myself, I learned that if I stay out of the city I don't run into him as often...so, yeah, you probably think I'm crazy now." Myth shrugged slightly, gazing at Amore to see her reaction, and see if it might be better to throw himself off the tower, to escape the emabarrasment welling up inside of him.

Amore's eyes widened. She wondered if he had anything against all vampires, or just that one. Either way, she decided not to reveal the fact that she was one to him aytime soon. "No....not crazy. Maybe a little loco, but not crazy," she teased.

Myth watched as Amore's eyes widened, there it went, he'd done it, she probably thought he was crazy, and he had chased his first possilbe friend away, but wait no, she was teasing him.

Myth smiled back at her, before a small laugh escaped him,

"Well, I definitly am that," and he was joking back!

Myth then turned from Amore, staring out at the night sky, the moon was full, and it and the stars hung heavy in the sky, their brillance unmarred by artificial lighting. "It sure is an awesome night tonight, don't you agree." Myth was just turning his head to look at her, when the railing he was leaning on gave out, hurling him out into the night sky.

Myth felt the cold air buffet against him as he plummeted downwards, but as he fell, Myth felt his wings burst out of his back, and after a spinning chaotic plummet, he snapped his wings out, and caught the updraft, muscle wrenching painfully arresting his fall.

Beating his wings downward, Myth began his ascent, hopefully Amore wasn't to worried, it looked like her part of the rail hadn't given out, but still.

"Well, I definitly am that,"

Amore grinned and shook her head at him. He diffinately wasn't, but she wouldn't tell him that. No need for him to grow an ego.

"It sure is an awesome night tonight, don't you agree."

She nodded, agreeing completely. She loved nights like this--well, minus the nightmares. She loved to just go take a long run under all the stars. "Yes, it is."

As Myth fell through the air when his railing broke off, Amore's eyes widened even more and her mouth gapped open. But as his wings came out and he flapped them, she let out a breath she realized she had been holding.

"You okay?" She called out.
