Mel is pretty tall, around 182cm(6.0ft), and his body is lanky and thin. Mel has long, slender limbs and firm muscles under his skin. His fingers are also long and artistic and look like they were made for playing instruments.
Mel has really pale skin with hardly any imperfections and on his back there’s an enchanted tattoo that makes his body male.
Mel’s facial features are quite well-crafted and many would call him a pretty boy. He has a wide mouth with full lips, straight nose and big sea blue eyes that have a sharp look to them.

Mel’s skin is formed from dark blue tiny scales. There’s turquoise spiral-like patterns on his head, back and all the way long his tail. Mel’s forehead has a large ice blue jewel and his eyes glow in the same colour of blue as his human eyes.
Mel isn’t really that sure what he wants or who he wants to be. For many years he was forced to be happy and smile all the time, even when he didn’t want to, and it became a natural state for him to be in. It had to be in order for him to survive. But at the same time he wants to be true to himself and express himself how he wants to. On the bottom of it all Mel is a melancholic, gentle creature who wants to spread peace around himself. But old habits die hard and so he often forces himself to grin and be happy in company. But from time to time when he is silent you can see a glint of sorrow in his eye.
Mel is good at separating and controlling his emotions and you won’t get him to show you any more than he wants you to see. Mel often pretends to be fine when he’s not and although Mel knows it’s not healthy he has no tools to work over his troubles. So he just keeps on hiding his negative emotions away until they burst out.

Mel can’t decide the definite shape of the illusion but he can choose what kind of illusion it is. It depends on what mood Mel plays the songs in. If he plays in a happy mood the person will see illusions that evoke that same feeling in them and so on. The illusions are hard to set apart from reality but if the person seeing the illusion initiates contact with it their hand will go through it and the effect will break. But if the illusion initiates contact the touch will feel real.
This power can be blocked by blocking the sound of the playing. Using this power exhausts Mel and he can use this power for 15 minutes tops. After that he will fall asleep.

-Natural Talent: Mel automatically knows how to play an instrument if he holds or touches it more than 5 minutes and if he then plays it for 5 hours Mel will permanently know how to play it. But if Mel won’t play the instrument for 5 hours straight without breaks after holding it he will forget how to play it and start again. The instruments he now knows how to play are piano, guitar, flute and harmonica.
Mel was born as an accident to a young siren. She had a one-night stand with a kitsune and when she noticed she was pregnant it was too late. The siren didn’t want the child so she left him in front of an orphanage. Mel was taken in there and spent his first 7 years there.
That orphanage wasn’t a good place for young Mel to notice he wasn’t actually a she at all. Every time he tried to tell it to others he was either bullied or slapped by the adults, telling “her” to stop being ridiculous. The orphanage was a cold, harsh environment that didn’t allow Mel to be who he is. He couldn’t cut his hair, wear what he wanted or even play though it was in his blood to create music.
Eventually Mel got sick of all this and ran away at 7 years old. He was street smart and knew his way around the big town where the orphanage was located. The town was somewhere in Europe but that’s all Mel knows.
Mel asked around about easy money or a place to stay and some people directed him to a circus that was in town. The name of that circus was Calioso circus.
Mel got to see the owner and as a half-Fae and a mage he could immediately see that Mel was more than met the surface. Mel said he wanted to join the circus, to escape the life he had, and that he only wanted one thing. For his body to be that of a man’s. The owner, who knew people, was able to cut a deal to Mel. He would get what he wanted if he promised to be in the circus indefinitely. Mel promised and that was how he became a slave in exchange for a male body.
The minute Mel promised to stay with the circus he was brought inside and thoroughly examined. That was also how he found out that he was a mythical creature. A spell by the owner, who was a mage, forced him to change into his water fox form. Mel was terrified and confused but before he could even think about escaping a collar was put on him. This collar shut off Mel’s abilities and made it so the owner controlled him.
The owner kept his promise. Mel was given a hard and painful operation where an enchanted tattoo was crafted on his skin. During that operation Mel felt immense pain and blacked out multiple times only to wake up to more pain. But afterwards his body was male. But Mel didn’t have much time to be happy about it before he was put to work.
Mel started as a helper, doing small dirty tasks around the circus. This kept going for a year until Mel got his hands on a flute. He held and admired it for 5 minutes and suddenly knew how to play it. And when he played he accidentally showed an illusion to another captive at the circus.
When the owner found out about this ability he gave Mel an act. Now he had to go on stage as a hypnotist's assistant to play background music. In actuality Mel was the one doing "the hypnotizing". It was more brutal than before since Mel was forced to be happy every time he went on stage, even if he had been beaten or abused that day. Because if the illusions weren’t happy the punishment was horrendous. So Mel learned how to force himself to feel happy, even under worst possible circumstances.
