Meetings And School Projects

Hadrian was doing a bit better, or at least he was trying to, he'd even volunteered for a school project. Being paired with a classmate they'd agreed to meet in the park to talk and work on things.

He'd fly into the park a short distance from her, giving a wave and his usual sweet smile before slipping his power bracelet on. "Hey, I'm not late am I?" he'd ask, walking to her, "I uh, brought snacks, cookies I baked earlier."

Setting his bag down he'd pull out a plastic container full of the cookies. "You hungry?" he didn't really have any friends, so he was trying to fix that, plus she seemed nice.

Azucena, dressed in her usual jeans and hoodie, was sitting on a tree stump that had been placed around a stone table in the park as one of its many picnic and seating places. Sitting waiting for Hadrian, she browsed their assignment. Azu was still quite surprised that he had actually volunteered for the school project. It didn't quite fit the ideal she had formed of the angel. She had heard quite a few of the rumours going around lately and didn't quite know what to think when she was paired up with him at last moment.

Looking up when Hadrian finally arrived, Azu shook her head, "No, not too late," she said, after a quick glance at her cell phone.

"You brought cookies?" she said, kinda surprised at the very nice and unexpected gesture, "Did you make them?" she asked curiously as she accepted one from him.

"Yeah," he'd say with small shy smile. "Took a few burns to get them done," he'd say with a small chuckle, "but I wanted to make them." He'd brush a bit of hair from his face, "you were nice enough to be my partner, so I wanted to make snacks."

Or felt oddly nice, having a simple but pleasant conversation like this. "I've been taking a cooking class, baked goods is what we're doing currently." He was pretty good at it, it also kinda calming, making food for people to enjoy.

"Don't hesitate to tell me if they taste off though," he'd say jokingly, taking his seat.

"Oh, wow..." Azucena said, kinda surprised at the fact that Hadrian had taken the time and effort to make them himself as she looked at the cookie in her hand. Turning it over, she had to smile when she saw that the cookie seemed a little browner on the edges, just like when her mother made the family peanut butter cookies.

Giving the cookie a little taste, Azucena grinned, "They are really good. Snickerdoodles?" she asked him curiously.

He was a little embarrassed and so his cheeks are flished, he didn't blush as often as he used to though. "Thank you, I'm happy they turned out well."

"Yes," he'd say with a smile and chuckle, "or at least my version of them." The angel was happy she liked them, he didn't often have people eat his food. "I'll uh....have to make them more often."

"Do you like to cook?" he'd ask curiously, "I thought I'd be bad at it but it's been pretty fun to learn."

Azucena shook her head at Hadrian's question. "No, not really," she said, "I have tried cooking some things, like I can make like soup or maybe fried eggs, but anything else, I'm not that great at it," she admitted sheepishly.

"I made pasta once and it came out as mush, and another time, I fried sausages and burnt them, oh, and rice... that is always a disaster," she told Hadrian. "Sometimes, I see the fear in my sister's eyes when I offer to cook dinner," she said with a grin.

He'd chuckle. "Sounds like how my sister reacted when I first tried to cook," that seemed like a long time ago, he missed her, even if she'd abandoned him. "I think me going into the dorm kitchen scared her more than anything else."

The young angel tilted his head."I....could cook for you sometimes if you'd like," he'd say, rubbing the back of his head. "I don't cook for others often...so it could be nice," he'd give her a small smile. He liked doing nice things for people and she seemed kind.

"I at least can make decent cookies it seems," he'd say with a chuckle.

Azucena took another bite out of the cookie as Hadrian talked, smiling at the apparent similarities of their siblings being hesitant about their cooking skills.

"I didn't know you had a sister," Azucena remarked curiously as she finished off the yummy cookie Hadrian had offered her. "Is she older or younger than you?" she asked him while thinking about her own family, and smiling inwardly. Rani was a great sister, and so was her brother, she felt fortunate to have them since she knew so many students on MCI didn't really have a family they could rely on.

"Oh, yeah, s-sure, sure you c-can cook for me, that is if you want to..." Azu stammered shyly, very surprised when Hadrian offered to cook for her. She hadn't even had anyone offer to cook for her that wasn't Desna or Juniper, and sometimes Aranea.

"She's older yeah," he'd say with a nod and a sad smile, "a year older, we came to the island together." He'd chuckle, "it's been over a year now...but it feels like...somehow both not that long ago and forever ago."

Reaching into his bag he'd pull out a notebook, flipping it over he'd look at it. "Do you like fish?" he'd ask, "the class is teaching us a few fish dishes currently." He'd smile, "if not....what's some of your favorite foods? I'm up for trying anything."

She'd be able to notice that his cheeks were a little flushed, he wasn't as shy as he used to be but he was still blushing.

"I don't mind fish, well, not raw fish. I don't care for things like sushi," Azucena said grimacing at the idea of raw fish as she watched Hadrian pull out a notebook, "I prefer my food to be cooked," she explained with a small laugh.

"Let's see, I like pretty normal foods like meatloaf, pasta, fresh bread and butter," she said trying to think of her favorite foods. "Or like fried chicken and a salad, beef stew," she said naming off a few dishes she often asked Desna to make.

"Honestly.. I even just enjoy sandwiches and soup," she admitted sheepishly, thinking she probably sounded pretty boring compared to other students who talked about all the exotic dishes they enjoyed.
