Private Finished Meeting Master Morey

It was no secret that Colten was a big supporter of demons and demonic culture on the island. He'd also made an arrangement with the counselors at the school and with the city government. Should a demon, partial or full, require assistance with housing or other support the Morey Estate could be a resource for them.

When he was informed about a young demon student who was struggling significantly because of special requirements his interest was piqued. It wasn't something he jumped right into though. He was careful but after research and discussing the matter with counselors from the school he decided Grovefire Manor might be a good fit for the girl. It was tricky, since he'd have to agree to be her Master. But ultimately he was going into it considering it much like fostering a child.

The demon gentleman was dressed in a nice silk suit with his customary scarf draped around his shoulders, though not in use because he was inside. He had opted to not wear a tie that day.

The woman in a dark green dress was leading him back to the small conference room they'd had Prae wait in. As she opened the door Colten got his first actual glimpse of the poor girl and he smiled and nodded. His striking black and orange horns drew attention to his movements and his tail casually flicked behind him as he entered the room to sit across from Prae.

"Hello Ms. Praeministra, my name is Colten Moray. Ms. Smith tells me you have been looking for a new master?" The voice was calm and kind and yet also came from a place of practiced eloquence. "I have quite a large home to take care of and I would like to see that you are well taken care of."

The state of the girl, at least visually wasn't great. Colten wondered if the counselors had even thought to ask her to clean up before the meeting. He wasn't offended by messiness or wrinkles but given what he was told it seemed like the counselors had only been giving orders when absolutely necessary.

Colten raised an eyebrow at the sudden shift as apparently the ownership changed hands but he had been somewhat prepared for it to happen. Maybe not quite so quickly but no use crying over not wasting time. He nodded at Prae to acknowledge her bow and then raised one hand to gesture her to move around the table and step closer.

As she came over he smiled at her again, "I would prefer Master Colten, but I think you will like it at Grovefire." He glanced at the wrinkles and general lack of care for her attire again and then gave a pointed look at the counselor as he reached over to fix the collar of Prae's shirt where part of it had folded over and hadn't been fixed. The wrinkles he couldn't really have fixed just then.

"Have you eaten yet today Prae?" He asked her curiously. Ignoring the counselor at the moment since this was between him and Prae. The counselor was only there to make sure things were conducted properly. To ensure Colten wasn't going to mistreat her, and they'd be visiting them periodically to check up too.

"I would like to learn a little more about your capabilities and strengths but only if you have been properly fed first," he finished. All of Colten's employees were well taken care of. It was a major point of pride for him and Prae was... well kind of an employee and kind of his ward at the same time.

Colten smiled at Prae's quick response to his gesture to come forward. Clearly she was very eager to serve, she just was struggling with not having someone there to give her directions. He could work with that. "Very good, you are attentive and polite," he quietly complimented the girl and then turned to listen to the counselor.

So she was getting enough food, that was mostly expected given the school's experience dealing with all kinds of students. But the other part caught his attention. If she was only doing what she was told then she was probably spending a lot of time just waiting to be of service. "I suspect she isnt getting enough orders to follow here. I don't fault you but this is why I'm here," was the casual response to the counselor. But Colten's focus was mostly on Prae, as it should have been.

He patted Prae lightly in the shoulder as he gave the next directive, "you look very professional like that but you can sit down in this chair." He gestured towards a chair by him, assuming that would please her and he pulled a snickers bar out from his coat pocket. The candy was placed on the table in front of where Prae was to sit and he pointed to it, unwrapping it for her. He looked to the counselor to make sure it was safe and received a nod in return.

"Prae could you take a small bite of this candy bar and tell me if you like the taste or not?" It was both a kind gesture and a test. Obviously if she liked it then she would be enjoying candy while also enjoying following orders. But if she didn't have her own tastes or likes this would also reveal that.

"After you're done trying the candy I would like you to tell me whether you require orders directly from me or if you can follow directions from one of my staff if I ask you to do what they tell you to," he calmly and patiently requested. While he waited he reclined in the seat a little and went over his mental notes of what he needed to find out. There were only really a few things he really needed to know before signing off to be responsible for her- the rest were just to make things run smoother. He took the role of 'master' very seriously.

Colten nodded as he listened to Prae's responses. It was as he had hoped- he would be able to instruct her to follow the directions of his head housekeeper or perhaps his personal assistant so he didnt need to directly supervise her all the time.

He was a little discouraged that she didn't seem to like the candy any more than normal food though he hid it quite well behind his smile. It seemed like he could really use that as a gesture of kindness or as a reward.

"Very well then. Since you dont dislike the candy we shall split the candy bar. But if anyone ever instructs you to eat more than is safe for you, or to eat something harmful or distasteful to you I am ordering you to contact me and confirm the instruction before doing it," he directed her in a kind but quite clearly authoritative tone. He would not tolerate any mistreatment of someone under his responsibility.

Colten picked up the candy and pulled open the wrapper so that it acted almost like a makeshift plate. Without much trouble he snapped the candy roughly in half, sliding the nibbled half towards Prae.

"I know you are probably quite anxious to leave here and see the Manor but I do need to ask, what talks are you most proficient in Prae? Are you a heavy lifter or a good cleaner?"

As he questioned Prae he gestured for the counselor to slide over the rest of the paperwork. He was prepared to accept responsibility for Prae in the complicated role as her Master and effectively her foster parent. That was the legal term that was needed since he was taking a juvenile in and agreeing to ensure she was housed, fed and taken care of. That she would go to school and have a decent quality of life.

The background investigation and inspection of Grovefire Manor to ensure he was qualified for fostering a child had been completed weeks prior, with regular check-ins by counselors to begin after Prae settles in.

Colten realized he had been overly cautious. She apparently would not be harmed so easily and he put down his pen. "I apologize then, though I see no harm in maintaining that request I made. Thank you for enlightening me Prae. Its important I know these capabilities so I can give you proper orders."

With that he picked the pen back up and signed his name one further time. He glanced at the counselor to ensure everything was in order and then he stood up to brush the wrinkles out of his jacket.

"Come, Prae," he ordered as he extended a hand to gesture for her to walk with him. "Let me show you to Grovefire Manor. My home." The counselor let the two of them leave, escorting them to the exit but then leaving them to their business.

Outside a black car with tinted windows idled and the driver began moving to get the door for them. "Prae, I would like you to feel free to ask any questions you have about myself or the Manor. Certainly there are things you wish to know to... better serve my interests?" He wasn't entirely sure what she even knew about him other than him being her new master. For all he knew she might not even be capable of such questioning anyway, but it was important for him to try.
