May 2019 Announcements

News in Brief​

New ICC Chat
We've already previously announced this, but the system is now going live today. As we transition, we encourage people to try and avoid hogging the private rooms. As needed, we may add additional ones, but for the time being we're going to start with two.

And last of all, you can find the chat here. Note that the chat will only be partially accessible for non-chat accounts. You must make sub accounts in order to properly use the chat.

Monthly Events
This month, our holidays include Memorial Day, the Lilac Music Festival (with an ICC component), and of course more of the Year of the Gods.

May 8th is Memorial Day, a holiday seen throughout the world but with slightly different connotations on Manta Carlos. In addition to remembering those who have fallen in war and the dead in general, Manta Carlos' Memorial Day also celebrates the general peace that exists on the island and the lack of necessity of a standing army.

Then on the third weekend of the month, we have the Lilac Music Festival. A several days long street festival with music and food, the Festival is punctuated by the Bloomsday Race. The Festival will include an ICC Event running from May 17th through May 19th.

This month, the Year of the Gods is going to be a little different. Be on the lookout for more information as we get further into May. You can see the full post with holidays here.

As usual there's a new set of challenges posted for this month. Check them out here.

New Social Media Page
An app launched at the WYSPR launch party is now out, allowing people to anonymously share secrets with each other.

Student Starter Pack
We've written out a FAQ explaining what students receive from the school, and how all that works. You can find it here.

Old Characters with New Apps
We've added some errata to our character restart process, dealing with rebooting older characters by giving them new apps. You can find it here, but here's the relevant detail:

Same Character, New App: Are you bringing back a character from being archived who's getting a big revamp? Are they not intended to be immediately recognizable, but otherwise are a direct continuation from a previous character? This is allowed, but only if the character has been archived for an extended period of time, and if you inform the mods so we can make a note that the two apps are the same character.​

May 2019 Mid-Month Announcements

News in Brief​

Year of the Gods
The gods of the Twelve, May and June, are a Moon goddess and a Sun god respectively. They are also married. So they have decided to combine their months, hosting an event that spans from May 18 to June 17. Since they don't want to step on the toes of island tradition, they are simply going to announce it during the Lilac Festival rather than have their own separate festivities.

Lilac Festival Signups
The Lilac Festival begins this weekend, from the 17th through the 19th. The ICC event will take place during the concert, and will run from 9AM to 9PM on the 18th. At 8PM, the Twelve have arranged a special announcement.

Those with more musically inclined characters can sign up their character to perform here.

Odds and Ends
Two new additions. We've included a flowchart in which category does my character go into?, providing a bit of much-needed clarity into the differences between a Named NPC, Supporting character, and Background NPC.

We've also added a bit to our character restart FAQ about how we handle the same character with a new app.

Staff Change
Kait has stepped down from staff after several years with us, and we thank them for all they've done for the site.​
