Matteo Starbecke

Human Form: 6'2, athletic build, dark slightly fluffy hair, blue eyes, normally wears dark pants a matching coat a matching coat a white shirt and tie.


Demonic Form: 6'2, athletic build, wears what looks like light armor, red skin covered in flames, horns, glowing yellow eyes.

Matteo has a very kind heart, he's friendly and loves helping people, but he's very stubborn, thick headed as they come it can take a lot to change his mind. He's burdened by the events that lead to his transformation, plagued by guilt and nightmares, he feels very lost, and questions whether or not he's human anymore, he largely hides these problems with his kindness, pushing them aside and focusing on helping others. He's a storyteller at heart, loves writing tales and reading stories to people and he's intelligent, his sharp mind allowing him to learn quickly. He loves Jazz, plays both the saxophone. He's fighter, unwilling to back down when he thinks he's fighting for what's right. He works hard in everything, puts in one hundred percent, whether it be school or a job, because of this he occasionally pushes himself to far. Because of the ritual he hides that hes a demon, and has some distrusts of other demons. All in all, he's a hopeful individual, he's in MC to start a new life and find a future.

•Active:
Pyrokinesis: He has powerful control over fire.
-Able to produce a fire that's able to get hot enough to easily burn through fles, and even metal if sustained long enough and project this fire in flamethrower like blasts or in projectiles like fire balls, the fire balls firing rate is similar to that of a shotgun, with him having to reform the fire ball after each blast.
-He can also take this fire and form it into solid flame objects, size is limites and so is normally able to form mele weapons like swords or spears.
-He can also mentally control any fire within his line of sight unless it's being controlled by someone else.
-Pyrokinesis Weaknesses: Because of his fire based abilities, he's very vulnerable to ice/water based magic, they can dispell the abilities and water can obviously put fire out, if exposed to magically csused freezing temperatures, like ice magic, his fire powers will completely shut down until he warns up. Natural cold temperatures affect him as well, but to a lesser extent, he's still more easily affected by the cold then most, and his powers are basically cut in half if the temperature gets to thirty degrees Fahrenheit.

-Demonic Form: a powerful form he's able to take, it grants a few abilities.
-Super Strength: tear through steel.
-Burning Skin: his skin is constantly covered in a thin layer of fire, it's hot enough to burn flesh.
-Claws and Fangs: he has retractable fangs and claws that can penetrate steel.
-Demon Weaknesses: As a demon he's vulnerable to Christian symbols, holy water burns him and will revert him to his human form, while the precense of symbols like a crucifix, within ten feet, will cut his strength in half, and cause the fire on his skin to go out, and turn off his fire based powers. If he enters a church all his powers will be unavailable.

-Language Absorption: he can instantly learn to understand and speak any language by absorbing it from people, the people have to be within ten feet. He has to focus, and can only learn one language at a time.


•Passive:
-Eternal Life: he'll likely stop aging in his mid twenties or early thirties and live forever if not killed
-Human Form: has access to the super strength of his demon form.


•Weaknesses:
-Holy Water burns his skin.

•Matt owns a very popular and successful pub known as the White Lion, as such money isn't an issue and he's able to rent an apartment.

The Crusades:
-The religious wars known as the Crusades were raging.
-At the center of the ongoing conflict, were the Knights Templar, a Christian military group.
-Rumors said that the Templars secretly worshipped a pagan god.
-This rumor held a grain of truth, for within the order, was a cult that worshipped a demon.
-So as the order fought in the crusades, they also secretly fought amongst themselves, a secret Templar civil war.
-It waged on in secret for years. Then, things changed, the cult started not just worshipping the demon, they were trying to summon it to Earth.
-They succeeded, and the demon was brought to Earth.
-So a group of Templars attacked the cult and the demon, the battle was long and bloody.
-In the end a brave Templar, named Matthias, bansished the demon, sealing it away, using his own blood in the ceremony.
-The demon was gone and the cult apparently destroyed.
-Not long after, the Knights Templar began to be demonized, many accused of worshipping pagain gods and being burned at the stake.
-Eventually, when everything was said and done, Matthias finally managed to retire to a quiet life and start a family, believing that the demon was gone forever.

Modern Day:
- Emanuel Matteo Starbecke is a descendant of Matthias lived a normal life for many years.
-He grew up all over Europe, living in France, German and Russia at various points, went to school, got a girlfriend, named Marie and after high school they got engaged.
-Life seemed good for young Matteo, but such happiness rarely lasts.
-The demon worshipping cult reemerged, reformed by modern worshippers of the demon.
-They kidnapped Matteo, his family and Marie, brought him to the old temple, where the original cult was based.
-Marie and Matteo's family was killed as a living sacrifice, and as the descendant of Matthias, Matteo's blood was used to break the seal that held the demon.
-The demon entered Matteo, tried to take his body as a vessel. So they fought a battle of the mind.
-It was long and difficult, but Matteo won, the demon's mind faded, apparently destroyed.
-Matteo woke up to find himself changed, physically he was a demon, though his soul remained human.
-Horrified, he destroyed the present cult members. Having gone through such horrific things, Matteo felt broken and began wandering.
-Manta Carlos having caught wind of the cult's actions, sent out an investigation.
-Eventually they found Matteo, they informed him of the island, of the school, so with no where else to go he went with them.
-Because of his mental and emotional damage caused by the events, he was placed in the island's mental health facility for six months before being allowed to join the Academy.

-Loves Jazz and is skilled at playing the saxophone
-Has a smoking habit, and a drinking one though it's yet to develop into alcoholism
-Speaks multiple languages, including English, Russian, German, French, Latin and Demonic
-His accent is a mixture of a few different ones, this is because of how much he moved as a child.
