(Tadashi in cat form)

Once again it was time for math class and big surprise- Tadashi was not there. He had been missing more and more classes and even when he was there he almost never did the homework that was assigned the day before. It was actually starting to become a problem. In fact the teacher was fairly sure if things didn't get better, the boy might fail and have to repeat the grade again next year. Tadashi didn't really act like he was stupid or unable to learn the material, he just seemed lazy.

So there Tadashi was, taking a glorious mid-morning nap on the windowsill and trying to take in what little sunlight there was on a very gray morning. His school books were stacked neatly on the floor nearby and his favorite pencil case, the one with pencil doodles all over it, lay on top as if it were a throne. He wasn't really hiding- anyone who passed by in the hallway would be able to see the school books and the white cat with distinct black paws. Not to mention the pencil case with his name on it.

He wasn't worried about being found. Actually he wasn't really worried about anything at the moment. That's partially why he was there in the first place. He gave a big, wide yawn and stretched his legs before getting comfortable again.

Tadashi wasn't paying attention to the approaching footsteps until they stopped right near where he was laying. He opened one sleepy eye to see who it was that was staring at him.

" Roll call!"

Since getting sick several years ago, Lucas' attendance was near perfect save for maybe a few doctor visits. At home, he wasn't the 'smart one' the triplets, that was Colette — bright, but kind of scared the rest of their grade. And Eric was the 'athletic one', he was the strongest when they were babies, and still was today. As for Lucas, well, he was the 'nice one'. He took some of pride in that, it was better than the 'sick one'. So when the teacher called on him to find where their new classmate ran off, he took on the challenge.

Tadashi... the doodle boy, he remembered. If he could smell more than just death, the whole thing would have taken just a few seconds. Luckily, he knew the school like the back of his hand, including some of the best hiding spots. On his walk over to one of them, he came across a white cat, it didn't really match up to the boy sitting a few seats over. As someone who shifted himself, it should have been a no-brainer, but it was only when he saw how the notebooks were scribbled in that he put two and two together. Lucas found him: the doodler.

With Lucas being at least four feet higher than Tadashi, he thought it might make for an awkward situation. He quickly scribbled down something before shifting; still taller than Tomomi... and a dog, but hopefully less intimidating. In his mouth was a sticky note that read: 'get back to class =)'.

Mmm, I really hope that isn't a teacher. I just got comfortable again.

It definitely wasn't a teacher. It was way, way worse. At least that's what the shock that went down his spine told him. Standing right there staring at Tadashi was a dog. Lucas didn't know it but it was probably the worse choice he could have made if he wanted to avoid startling Tadashi. After all he had been a cat for most of his life and instincts run deep.

Tadashi jumped up and arched his back. His hair stood on end as he hissed at Lucas. "Go away, i'm just sleeping here. Go sniff someone's butt or something." He thought to himself.

Then he finally noticed the note in the dog's mouth. It wasn't exactly a calming thing to see, but it did make the dog seem just a little less threatening. If they were bringing a note to him then they weren't there to bite him. Tadashi honestly thought about running but then his books, and more importantly his pencils, would be left behind.

Calm now, don't want to get all worked up and.... Well let's just not get all worked up.

Tadashi forced himself to sit back down and shift back into human form. At the very least the dog might be less likely to attack someone who looked human. As he sat on the windowsill his body stretched and warped until he was just a white haired boy in a white button-down shirt, gray slacks and shoes and light grey gloves. "The teacher sent you to scare me into going to class?" he asked as calmly as he could and swallowing the little bit of lingering fear in his heart.

On second thought, how did the note stay in the dog's mouth all the way from class without getting wet and messed up? And why did this dog seem a little...different to the ones he was used to fleeing from. "Wait, are you a shifter? I don't think i've seen trained dogs around here." He said it without trying to be mean, though he could see how it might be taken that way. "I'm sorry for hissing at you if you are. Just not a fun way to be woken up you know?" He punctuated the apology with a sheepish smile.
