Name: Maori Kuiper-Kanaloa
Age: 20ish.
Birthday: March 13th, 1930
Gender: Female
Species: Unknown / Harmonic Being
Category: Student
Class: College
Grade: 14-15 (2nd or 3rd year college)
College Major: Quite fittingly, Astronomy.
Appearance Description: At present, Maori has long, dark blue-green hair framing her face, seeming to float around her face and up, as if it were weightless. She is almost painfully thin, a by-product of not having much to eat for 80 years, and she is pale as well, her lips almost as pale (though they show a bit more color.) This provides a stark contrast to her piercing dark eyes. Her style has evolved from her younger days, defaulting to a large grey t-shirt and wine-colored tights, and she is usually barefoot. Maori seems to always hover in midair, though never more than 3 feet off the ground.

However, her other form is not so - it sheds all the looks of her physical form and transforms into a faintly-glowing star. It isn't that hot, and isn't physical at all. It is only a ball of faint light, but it is still Maori. It can move by gliding through the air.

Personality Description: Quite the introvert due to having spent 80 years out in space, Maori is still getting used to the idea of a bustling city with loads of people, as well as the techology developed throughout the years. Ever since joining college, though, she has adopted the lifestye of a modern college student: unhealthy sleeping habits and eating habits (though she's trying to eat things at least), and a curious love/hate relationship her newest flame - wi-fi. Usually, you'll find her to be a laid-back girl who seems just a bit more tired than usual. She doesn't complain about much, as she was raised not to, and enjoys music and hanging out with herself, since she hasn't made any real friends yet. She can be a bit cynical when you meet her, but Maori really is nice to the people she knows, and is usually just looking for attention, not to be forgotten again. Though, take her near water and you've got a bounty on your head. During stressing stiuations, she usually has an air of finality to her, or what may seem like resignation - but Maori's just waiting until the right time to do something. After all, it's what got her off Pluto.

Active Abilities:
NOTE: Null and void, when Human Shape Charm is equipped.

Frequency Manipulation
Audio
As a waveform being, Maori is capable of manipulating frequencies (mostly radio frequencies) at will. She can change pitch, project the sound anywhere within a room, and mimic voices on the radio, as well as speak different languages on the radio, provided that the language is currently being broadcast.

Visual

To a much lesser extent than the Audio manipulation, Maori is able to manipulate visual/harmonic frequencies to change her appearance or the appearance of other things, provided, again, that she be close to the source of the waves and that she has enough of her own frequency to do so. Usually she can only manage to manipulate her own waveforms with enough skill, so she uses this mostly for "changing clothes".
Tuning
Because she is a waveform being, not only can she manipulate frequencies, she can also "tune in" to them, much like one would a radio station. It is extremely easy for her, provided she have proximity to the source. When she does this, she can absorb more information much quicker than normal.

Form Change
Maori has 2 forms - a "physical" form and her true form, the star form.
Physical/Human
While Maori is in this form, she can touch objects, talk and interact with things, and do most of the things a normal human can do, with her added powers. She can float in this form (up to 5 ft in the air). Depending on strength of frequencies around her, her form will lose or gain substance.

True/Star
This form can float higher (about 7ft off the ground). She conserves more energy in this form. Uses radio broadcasts to piece together sentences - can be frustrating when the right words aren't on broadcast :( Easier to tune into things in this form. Twice as powerful in this form.

Passive Abilities:
Float
She floats above the ground. This is not something she can control, she just does it, though as aforementioned there are different heights she can reach depending on form.

Crackle
When she is present, a barely audible crackle sound can be heard, as if a static radio were nearby. Does literally nothing usually, but provides a small boost to electric mages and those who use electric magic. Again, it just happens.

Weaknesses:
Signal Addiction
As it is necessary for her form without the Human Shape Charm, Maori needs to stay within range of any frequency - otherwise she will revert to her true form and be unable to communicate, due to saving energy and also the fact that stars can't talk. As a result, the first few years back from space have taught Maori to stay within signal range. She would do well near a cellphone tower, for instance - but not so much in a tall-treed forest or a mountain.

Water Phobia
Though she used to love swimming in water, it is now both a fear and a possible fatality to be near water for extended periods of time. Getting into the water is out of the question, and will provoke a fear reaction. She has never tested if a dip in the water will prove fatal, but she doesn't want to find out, lest she spark and be thrown to Pluto again.

Play it Again, Sam
As a consequence of her being eligible for others to tune into her, if one had the right tools, one could arguably manipulate her frequencies to get her to do what they want. Messing with her frequencies causes her to panic, and also causes nausea. Nevertheless, if she is manipulated via her frequency she has no choice but to obey. This extends from wanting her to "sing" a song again to wanting her to broadcast a message. She has no choice in the matter.

Frequency Manipulation
She can only do this within a room, and she needs to be close to the source of the frequencies in order to manipulate them.

Tuning
Just as she can "tune in" to frequencies, she herself is also one, and so can be "tuned into", making it very easy to tell what she's thinking (if you have some sort of radio device or walkie-talkie set to her frequency.) Only affects her Star form.

Form Change
Physical Form:
Is 50% as strong in her physical form compared to her star form. Objects are sometimes hard to handle due to her having to vibrate her particles to keep herself "physical".

Star Form:
While in this form, Maori has limited physicality - she cannot verbally communicate, nor communicate via body language. In this form, she is weak to dark, wind, electricity, and earth-based attacks, as well as more susceptible to auras. It cannot interact with the world directly as her physical form can, and it is more easily tuned into.

Common Magical Items:
Has a Human Shape Charm for emergencies.

Biography: Born in March of 1930, Maori was initially very interested in astronomy, probably due to her astronomer mother. Most of her childhood was spent helping her mother out with star maps and charts, though at the time she didn't really know what most of it meant. One day, when she was 10, or maybe 11, her father left to fight in the army. She didn't quite understand what was happening, but she could understand that her dad was going to a very dangerous place. This was where her near-obsession with radios began. She would listen every night to make sure her father was alright, tuning it on and off and into different stations, and as tensions rose in that time, she was getting very worried.
Aside from that, nothing more happened for a little while - she found friends, she found a job as a waitress in a tiny little diner, and that was that.
Until one weekend, where she and her friends decided to have a little party on her friend's boat. She would bring the radio and the songs, and her friends would bring the booze. Everything went as planned at first: they had a grand old time dancing and singing, and talking about the future. It didn't last - a few hours into the party, they steered the boat into a cove, to have a party on the sand and maybe a bonfire. The second they hit shore, though, Maori's radio began to spark and shake. Her friends, afraid it would explode, jumped ship (quite literally), landing safely in the cove's sands. Maori, however, wasn't so lucky - she fell into the water with the sparking radio.
Maori should have died.
She did not. Instead, it was almost as it the water had sucked all the air out of her, but the electricity from the radio was keeping her alive and jolting, a livewire in the sea, painfully seizing and feeling like she was being torn apart bit by bit. She was, of course, but no one told her that. By the time she opened her eyes, what felt like an eternity later, she discovered she (or at least part of her) was floating around in what could only be described as psychedelic space. Like she was trapped inside a nebula. Everything stopped that day for her. Time itself did, too.
What had happened, she reasoned, was that she had encountered an anomaly in the electromagnetic field of that cove - something in it's field had reacted with the electricity in the radio, throwing her into... could it be? A wormhole?
That was the only explanation she could think of. As it was, it had shot her all the way out, light-years away, to Pluto.
Which turned out to be surprisingly breathable once you were a star. In the process, Maori had herself become a frequency.
With time, she found her way back to Earth via the radio frequencies sent into space, always one step closer to Earth, learning and wanting to see her parents again. Once on Earth, though, she was in a very different spot than what she knew previously. Instead of Maine, she'd been following the transmissions of... Manta Carlos.
She settled in as a college student, surprised at how young she looked after she figured out how to change back into a "physical" form, and began to put together the pieces: her parents were at least into their 70s now, if not their 90's... or dead. Reeling, she decided to stay on Manta Carlos until she figures out how to approach her mother with the news that she's still alive, and if her mother dies, then Maori is determined to carry on her astronomical legacy.

Resources:
- Knowledge of Astronomy/Star Charts (from experience + astronomer mother)
- Dorm at Starlight Academy (college program)
- Savings from the last few years (arrived at least 3 years ago)
- Tinkering experience (her father + experience)
- tba?
Additional Information: fun water game: take a sip of water every time the word "frequencies" is said, and you will be hydrated for the week ;)
